Assassin's Creed Shadows is a small, yet flawed, step in the right direction for the series. While the story, characters, visuals, music, and main gameplay mechanics shine, the lack of development for the protagonists, the boring side quests, the continued emphasis on combat instead of stealth, and the frustrating action RPG mechanics severely hinder the experience. Unfortunately, it's not the evolution of the series that many fans were hoping for, and it pales in comparison to other games that have handled its formula far better.

Without a doubt the worst in the series. Two good things in this game: shadows and weather. Every single thing else everything was completely un fun, uninteresting-- you can't even travel the open world, you are limited to roads. Not one name is memorable and neither is anybody's performance. I did 100 missions and there are zero i remember fondly. I've never disliked an AC game as much as AC Shadows.

J'attendais énormément Assassin's Creed Shadows, mais au final c'est une immense déception. Certes, le jeu est magnifique visuellement et le Japon féodal est superbement retranscrit, mais cela ne suffit pas à sauver **** parkour est un énorme retour en arrière. Les déplacements manquent de fluidité et de précision, ce qui est difficile à accepter pour une série qui s'est longtemps distinguée par cette mécanique. Explorer le monde devient rapidement moins agréable qu'espéré.L'histoire ne m'a pas convaincu non plus. Les personnages peinent à captiver et le scénario manque d'émotion et de moments marquants. J'ai eu beaucoup de mal à m'investir dans **** final, j'ai l'impression que la licence a perdu ce qui faisait son identité. En dehors de sa réalisation technique, peu d'éléments m'ont donné envie de continuer. Pour moi, c'est un épisode qui va dans la mauvaise direction et qui me fait sérieusement douter de l'avenir de la série si Ubisoft poursuit sur cette voie.

The wait was well worth it for Assassin’s Creed Shadows. The fans have been asking for an AC game set in Japan, and Ubisoft has finally delivered, with a dual-protagonist experience that offers crisp combat mechanics, a bombastic musical score, and a beautiful visual presentation. Assassin’s Creed is so back.

The abundance of customization options, such as guaranteed assassination, is fantastic. Even if it lacks the depth of the classic AC titles, it avoids feeling overly like an RPG.

Shadows, like its predecessors, has now yielded its own memory for me to store in my personal Animus: a reminder that when it comes to this medium, gameplay is king. And in Shadows, playing as Yasuke and Naoe is as powerful as the treacherous Shogun at the heart of this adventure.

Although Shadows gives the Assassin's Creed formula a much-needed update, it continues to falter in some areas. The long cutscenes and dialogues are still present, and you encounter so many enemies that the battles get boring at times. We know that sounds crazy in a game where you play an assassin, but sometimes you just want to achieve your goal instead of killing one guard after another. Those two shortcomings are especially noticeable at the beginning of the game, which is a shame, because it kind of took away our desire to continue playing. Fortunately, we bit through, because the further we progressed, the more Shadows blossomed. There is an enormous amount to experience, and Ubisoft clearly invested where it was needed: in the storyline. It is vastly expanded and rarely bores.

Assassin's Creed Shadows is another strong entry in the AC universe, excelling by building on the series' strengths. Japan is stunning, and both Naoe and Yasuke shine as some of the franchise's best protagonists to date. However, even for seasoned fans, its repetitive and unimaginative mission structure may be tough to overcome.

As always, Ubisoft has crafted a highly detailed and undeniably beautiful world. Roaming the historical Japanese cities and countryside is undoubtedly one of the game's highlights. However, once again, Ubisoft fails to take a single step forward in its action, platforming, and-most crucially- stealth mechanics, making each new iteration of its beloved franchise feel increasingly stale and tiresome.

Le jeu Assassin's Creed Shadows propose enfin un univers très attendu par les fans avec le Japon féodal, sublimé par une direction artistique magnifique et une excellente ambiance. L’exploration est immersive, avec des environnements variés et une atmosphère qui correspond parfaitement à l’univers d’Assassin’s Creed.
Le gameplay offre de bonnes sensations, notamment grâce à l’infiltration plus mise en avant et aux différences entre les deux protagonistes, qui apportent plus de variété dans l’approche des missions.
L’histoire et le lore restent intéressants, même si certains passages manquent parfois de profondeur ou de rythme pour réellement marquer autant que les meilleurs épisodes de la saga.
Yasuké est inutile a l'histoire et aurait pu ne pas être implanté dans le jeu.
Malgré quelques défauts et certaines mécaniques encore perfectibles, Assassin’s Creed Shadows reste un bon épisode, agréable à parcourir et très réussi visuellement.

A game having nothing to do with Assassin's Creed. A beautiful open world that is a pain to explore and isn't as free to roam as the other RPG entries. Terrible story, voice acting and cutscenes (outside of the first hour or so). The gameplay is arguably the best in the series, but it doesn't do enough to warrant the time it will take to make it through the non existent story or side content.
