Mirage is the worst AC game but this is not great. The camera is the worst I have ever seen in a action game. I understand why Ubisoft not going great now they need to make games that are fun. But this is not that game. They could made it great but they used thing from Mirage that made that game bad. Why not listen to the feedback from that game? If you not listen to what the customers want you will disappear from market.

To be honest the game is boring and average. Story is below expected. I m giving 6 out of 10 only for recreating shrines and temples as they used to. Bad ac game and unenjoyable at all

While the story is quite mediocre for the most part the game makes up for it by showcasing stunning graphics and great combat/stealth. Though I’m still not fond of the RPG looting system.

Ubisoft never fails to disappoint. The map is AWFUL. You can't see anything but trees and bushes in your face for half of the game. Trying to get around is a nightmare. Near where you start and in general they put higher level areas where you are just starting. If you try to open the million stupid fast travel points you will be dead one hit in the higher areas. I bought this cheap. I hated Valhalla so much that I wasn't going to buy anymore of these. I swear only when they are on ps plus from now on.

This game is good and rich in detail, but it's very boring simply because it's an RPG. The only reason I didn't like it is the RPG mechanics. The combat became terrible. Either you set it to easy, which makes it too easy, or you set it to hard, where the RPG elements become overwhelming. I also didn't like the level system. For me, that's the game's biggest problem.
I'd give it a 5/10. If it had been more like Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, with Black Flag's combat system, it would have been amazing.

Assassin's Creed Shadows is a significant step forward compared to previous entries in the series, especially Valhalla. The world feels much more alive, NPC AI is more responsive, the graphics are impressive, the new stealth mechanics add depth to gameplay, and the revamped melee combat with its new animations feels satisfying.Unfortunately, despite Ubisoft's decades of experience developing the Assassin's Creed franchise, many of the same bugs that have plagued previous games are still present. I encountered menu freezes, map glitches, and other technical issues that shouldn't exist in a modern AAA release. It's disappointing because underneath these problems is a genuinely enjoyable game with great potential. If Ubisoft fixes these technical issues, Assassin's Creed Shadows could easily become one of the strongest entries in the series.

It's unfortunate that Ubisoft still don't understand how to make fun open worlds. It's a game that gives the impression that the developers were targeted on increasing playtime as many of the choices made here are just needless bloat rather than fun. The map is a huge let down as usual. Between the countless map markers there's just nothing to do here. It only exists to make you travel from one space to another which can take a while if you're yet to unlock a travel point near to your destination. The world looks pretty but that's about it - even going off the beaten path is met with either slopes too steep to traverse or vegetation so dense you can't see where you're going and keep getting stuck. There's no wildlife you can hunt, no resource nodes to farm, no random secrets or puzzles to discover. You may find the odd chest but these are few and far between and also your scouts can locate them when you unlock that ability. So what other purpose does this world have if not to provide bloat and a metric that Ubisoft can use to brag about their map size and average time to complete but that doesn't make it fun. The combat is fun however. Naoe is your typical stealth character with a grappling hook for more traversal options and Yasuke is the brute that wades in loudly and destroys everyone. The only problem is that many of the viewpoints are only accessible to Naoe or things like scrolls in temples that are on roofs that only she can get to so for the most part I play as her as switching back and forth can get tedious after a while. The story bored me very quickly. "Why use 5 words when 1000 can do" is their motto here and it really drags on with cutscene and cutscene. You can skip them at least but it's not exactly gripping enough to warrant me spending that much time watching them. Like being stuck in a cinema watching a very mediocre film - you'd walk out and find something fun to do. I'd advise staying away from the franchise - they'll never learn how to make fun open worlds of activities for players sadly. The potential is there, they just don't use it.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows is, for me, one of the strongest entries Ubisoft has delivered in years. After around 130 hours of playtime, I can say that this episode finally gives the series the setting many fans had been waiting for: feudal Japan. More importantly, it does not simply use Japan as a visual backdrop. It builds a dense, atmospheric, and often breathtaking open world that feels respectful, immersive, and full of **** first major strength of Shadows is its world. Japan is absolutely stunning here, not only because of its landscapes, temples, castles, villages, forests, and fields, but because of the way everything is tied together by atmosphere. Dynamic weather and seasonal changes add a lot to the immersion. Rain, snow, wind, night, sunlight, and changing vegetation constantly reshape the mood of the world. Exploration feels far more pleasant than in many previous entries because the game gives a stronger sense of place and **** dual protagonist system is another major success. Naoe and Yasuke are not just two skins for the same gameplay loop; they offer two genuinely different approaches. Naoe brings back the fantasy of being an Assassin: stealth, parkour, infiltration, silent kills, tools, shadows, and verticality. Yasuke, on the other hand, is slower, heavier, and more direct. His combat-focused style gives the game a different rhythm, turning some encounters into brutal samurai showdowns. Together, they refresh the formula without betraying **** investigation system also works well. Instead of simply following icons without thinking, the game often asks you to gather information, identify targets, follow clues, and understand where to go. The scout and ally systems are smart additions, making exploration and objective tracking feel more organic. This does not completely remove the Ubisoft structure, but it makes it feel more engaging and less automatic.Combat and stealth are both enjoyable, even if they do not always reach the same level of quality. Naoe’s stealth is clearly the highlight. Moving through castles, hiding in shadows, using tools, eliminating guards, and planning an infiltration route can be extremely satisfying. Yasuke’s combat is powerful and entertaining, especially when the game lets him fully embrace his role as a samurai. The gameplay is intuitive, effective, and more punchy than before, even if it still carries some familiar limitations from the **** game is also very generous. There is a lot to do, and for players who enjoy open worlds, exploration, upgrades, side content, and long-term progression, Shadows offers a very solid amount of content. My 130 hours never felt wasted, because the world kept pulling me back. Even when the structure became familiar, the setting, atmosphere, and pleasure of playing Naoe or Yasuke kept the experience enjoyable. However, Assassin’s Creed Shadows is not perfect. The main story can feel a little flat at times, even if it contains some genuinely epic moments. The formula also remains repetitive in places: finding targets, clearing locations, collecting resources, upgrading gear, and repeating similar activities across the map. I personally enjoyed the loop, but the series still struggles to escape some of its old **** AI has improved, but it still creates strange moments. Guards can react well in certain situations, but in others they behave awkwardly or lose track of the player too easily. There are also some finishing problems in animations, transitions, enemy behaviors, and mission structures. Boss fights are another weak point: while some encounters are enjoyable, not enough of them feel truly memorable. Some choices linked to the broader Assassin’s Creed lore may also disappoint long-time fans. Personally, I think the game works best when it focuses on Japan, Naoe, Yasuke, and the local conflict. When it connects too directly to the larger franchise mythology, the result can feel less convincing.Even with these flaws, Assassin’s Creed Shadows remains an excellent game. Its world is one of Ubisoft’s most beautiful and immersive creations, its two protagonists offer real gameplay variety, and its return to a stronger stealth identity through Naoe is a major success. It is not a perfect reinvention of the franchise, but it is a powerful, generous, and highly enjoyable episode that reminded me why I love Assassin’s Creed when the formula works.

Without a doubt the worst in the series. Two good things in this game: shadows and weather. Every single thing else everything was completely un fun, uninteresting-- you can't even travel the open world, you are limited to roads. Not one name is memorable and neither is anybody's performance. I did 100 missions and there are zero i remember fondly. I've never disliked an AC game as much as AC Shadows.

Naoe beaucoup trop fragile.

Fantastic game. The setup and gameplay is the best. Love that you have missions and you have to loot.

I have very mixed feelings with AC Shadows. On one hand, it has a realistic and beautiful world open world with a nice setting. There is a lot of attention to detail in the historical setting as well. And it has a great performance mode, where you can play at 60fps and the game flows very smoothly. On the other hand, the core of the game is so fundamentally flawed that it feels like a chore. Like homework. The core problem is how the story and progress are designed. The game fragments the story in little pieces to pretend to be non-linear, but it remains linear: missions still work in a way that you need to do A and B to then be able to do C. So, the story fragmentation completely sacrifices the quality of the writing but without returning anything truly positive. And the worst: the game sets level requirements to do some of those missions. Feels completely arbitrary and forces you to interrupt your progress to do some more chores to level up. So, in the end, the game is still brutally linear. Also, in-game decisions have zero consequences most of the time - you'll find yourself with the illusion of a choice only to find out that the game decides for you regardless. And there are SO MANY missions that feel irrelevant that, once in a while, you'll play one that actually matters for the story but there's no way to know beforehand so you'll be watching a meaningful cutscene without the slightest buildup or interest. Two more negative aspects are that the open world is pretty but it is quite painful to navigate, and that most missions require you to go from point A to point B. Because they want to pretend it's not as simple as that, now they do not put a marker on the map anymore. They simply point at a specific area and you need to find the spot yourself. This is okay if discovery is the core of the game and is designed to be fun... But, here, it just feels like an additional chore to do on top of your main chore. One more thing worth commenting is how dull the inventory system is. You'll find hundreds of chests in the game, but their content is mostly useless - best case scenario is you find a piece of equipment so you can replace your underleveled gear. Provided you can use it straight away... Since you can't use equipment of a level greater than your character's. In summary... Terrible story and writing. Bad gameplay loop, flooded with fetch quests. In a beautiful world - I'll give you that. Feels like the game is designed by graduates in Neuroeconomics and Behavioral Psychology, rather than by artists and game developers who love videogames. The game doesn't know how to be fun - it only knows how to keep you busy.

I think this game is very underrated. The world is beautiful and the gameplay is perfect! The story is the only problem of this game. To much side quests and boring. The characters are build beautifully though. But the cutscene's aren't special. The mouth is just going up and down, no special animations. But I don't think that's a real big threat. But, i'll recomend this game!

Cons: still lots of side quests, items with different levels to grind

A game having nothing to do with Assassin's Creed. A beautiful open world that is a pain to explore and isn't as free to roam as the other RPG entries. Terrible story, voice acting and cutscenes (outside of the first hour or so). The gameplay is arguably the best in the series, but it doesn't do enough to warrant the time it will take to make it through the non existent story or side content.

Extremely disappointing especially considering that the Japan setting has been long awaited. I don’t really have a problem with the characters as I’m sure a lot of people have discussed one of the main characters being black. I don’t have a problem with this. I’m pretty sure it is historically accurate but even if it wasn’t, it’s not like all these games have been accurate in its setting. And in the games defense, if you dislike it cuz it’s “woke” then I can’t take you seriously. Judge based off the story, don’t play count the minority. I’m sick of it. Other than that, the story is somewhat cool but I can’t help but dislike the game because it doesn’t fully pull me in. I also think the camera work is a disaster and climbing can be rough. This also has similar issues to the other RPGs and Mirage. And if you’ve seen my ratings you would probably be able to guess that this I’m not a fan at all. The story is also just wonky in general and the ending is horrible. The writing is even bad for Ubisoft’s standards Overall, this is better than the disasters that are odyssey and Valhalla but it’s still bad especially for a setting like this.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows is a game I enjoyed, but I still have mixed feelings about it. Visually, the game looks very good, with strong art direction and detailed environments. On PS5 Pro, I did notice some FPS drops when using PSSR, which can slightly affect the overall smoothness. The gameplay is solid, with good mechanics overall. The idea of switching between characters is interesting, but it also takes away a bit of what made older Assassin’s Creed games special. In previous entries, there was more of a sense of planning and finding the best way to approach a situation. Here, some encounters feel easier to handle with a more direct approach. The game can also feel repetitive over time. Near the end, I was more focused on finishing the main story, and I mostly did side quests when they matched my **** seasonal system is a great idea, but some parts of it can be frustrating. Having to eliminate a target only at night during a specific season can feel restrictive, especially considering how long a season lasts.A positive note for the DLC. It follows the same formula, so it can feel a bit repetitive, but it adds more content and provides a satisfying conclusion to the story.

Assassins creed Shadow is the perfect example when woke ideology clashes with a country that love their culture and history to the point that they will fight back. Assassins creed has always been a skilful balance of history mixed with their own story and the history side was thoughtfully studied but for some time the work has been diluted and than bang… Assassins creed shadows, it brought back the duel protagonist feature of Assassin’s creed syndicate and added seperate roles which was bold and it fell flat. The reason one buys an Assassins creed game is simple, they wish to play as a bad ass stealth killing machine that strikes fear into the heart of anyone close, a protagonist that can strike from anywhere and disappear back into the shadows, they got rid of this by introducing archetypes, so you can play as a lumbering all out assault style samurai or a stealthy ninja that sticks to the shadows. This was already dumb but wouldn’t have been bad if you could pick and stick for the game but instead they made it switch back and forward. The game felt half cooked and the protagonists felt uninteresting and forced with cliches, Yasuke felt forced as a character as they were trying to find a black character to fit with the current narrative at the time, he wasn’t some legendary Samurai and in fact never got that title at all, this is something they would have known if they didn’t just do a quick google search and call it a day. He was seen as interesting by Nobunaga and considered a member of the warrior class and was given a sword, stipend and so on but he was never actually given the title of “Samurai” officially, mix this with the fact he lost the interest of the emperor fast and was only in recorded history from 1591-1592 so he lasted a year. What the west don’t realise is his story was the fact he was given the benefits of a samurai but that doesn’t make one a samurai there had to be a ceremony to gain the offical title to which he was never recorded as having, therefore to the west he was a samurai but officially he never was. After a year he left after his master Nobunaaga died, Yasukes whole moment in history could be labeled as right place right time.Away from historical inaccuracy to which I could continue since I’ve studied feudal Japan a lot since I love it, the game play wasn’t bad but didn’t feel like Assassins creed at all and instead felt like a different IPI have no issues with a black main character and encourage it but only in the right times and places, don’t make a story out **** that was only around for one year because it seems like you’re grasping at straws.I was really disappointed as when I heard this was going to take place in Japan I was extremely excited because of all the cool story lines and ninjas and all that, oh well. For the future Ubisoft, don’t move away from what makes Assassins creed what it is and leave the duel protagonists behind, you can keep the play as a man or woman but once picked leave it like that, no more switching during gameplay. For those looking for a cool feudal Japan style game the “Ghost of” series is remarkable, for those looking for good Assassins creed games skip this one.

It’s perfect to wait for Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resync. I prefer the old AC games, but this one is good. Japan is the best place for an AC game.

Visuals are nice, but nobody talks about the gameplay and tech details like camera or fighting. Camera perspective is a disaster when fighting, not following anything, just showing unnecessary or empty areas if getting close somewhere or by no means; Naoe/Yasuke keeps getting stuck at nothing, like a stone, a step, or a fence, just rolling on the same spot without moving while being hit by enemies. Switching weapons takes forever. Climbing cliffs or rocks is randomly working or not; that was so much better in former parts of AC. This one is just frustrating so many times, at least in the hardest mode, and often ridiculous because of stupid details breaking most of what should be fun parts.

The open world is one of the most beautiful and immersive ever created in a video game. The stealth and parkour mechanics are top-tier and unfortunately, that’s about it. The story is weak, the game quickly becomes extremely repetitive, and there’s not much incentive to explore the vast map once the main quest is **** I had to rate it objectively, I’d give it a 6, maybe a 7, because the game does have undeniable strengths. However, Ubisoft’s heavy-handed woke shift and their push to replace a traditionally Japanese samurai character with Sasuke is just an insult and has led the studio to its demise.

One year later and even better than at the time of its initial release, Assassin's Creed Shadows turned out to be nothing less than fan service at absolute peak performance. From a story & narrative perspective and especially gameplaywise considering the on point dynamic between the two playable main protagonists Shadows stands out as the best entry we had since the early days with the franchise. Post update support on the developers side is much appreciated as always when it comes to Ubisoft. One of the best & most meaningful videogame experiences of the entire generation.

8.8 - Shadows brings the series to feudal Japan with a visually stunning world and a dual-protagonist system that blends stealth and combat playstyles. The contrast between precise shinobi tactics and powerful samurai combat keeps gameplay dynamic and engaging. Seasonal changes and world detail enhance immersion, though occasional repetition and familiar mechanics persist. Overall, it’s a refined and exciting evolution of the modern Assassin’s Creed formula.
