Captain Marvel6
Mar 8, 2019
I went into this movie reading as few reviews for it as possible. I found the story to be good, but confusing. I understood the main plot twist, but some the actions prior to the "switch" made no sense considering the actual truth. The supporting cast REALLY carry this movie. I think Bri Larson was good, in specific scenes, but overall, not great collectively in this film. She felt "medicated", if you will, by showing no emotion through some of the climax of the movie. It is strange saying this, given that she has won an Academy Award for leading actress, but she forgot how to act in this film. The end picks up and leads right into End Game, so Marvel fans MUST see this movie. My true review is a 6.5/10.

How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World10
Feb 28, 2019
This is one of the rare occurrences where a trilogy is wrapped absolutely beautifully. The movie provided a great ending to this wonderful coming of age story. The villain probably didn't need to be in the movie, but the feels the movie brought out were real. Great movie. I would give this a 9.5, but I will round up.

Avengers: Infinity War9
May 31, 2018
I want to start by saying I am a huge Marvel fan that has seen all of the 10 years of films leading up to this. I came into this movie expecting a lot and it delivered. The acting/cast came together to give great chemistry. This is a short review because I could go on for hours typing why I loved the movie. Due to confusion towards the end, I will give it a solid 9. This is a movie all Marvel fans should see in theatres and is child-friendly. I feel like the perfect viewing experience and understanding for this film requires two watchings.

Deadpool 29
May 31, 2018
I'll be the first to admit that I was not expecting much when entering the theatre for this movie. As we all know, sequels can and usually are ****. This movie surprised me with its current jokes and vibrant cast. I don't want to say/talk about any of those jokes for spoiler reasons. The part in which I did not like was the mid-credit scene. Something happens in it which kind of makes the entire movie pointless. It confused me and left me wishing that it never happened. The cast/acting was great and the jokes were on point so I'll give this movie an 8.5. Since I had a great overall movie experience when seeing this, I've decided to round up to a 9. Marvel fans who liked the first one should see it, but do not bring your kids. The jokes are as raunchy as they come. That's not a fault... that is just Deadpool.

Solo: A Star Wars Story7
May 31, 2018
This movie felt like multiple montages put together to appease the fans in showing multiple moments in a young Han's life. Although I believe the acting/casting was well done, the story drags due to there really being no antagonist. Before a specific scene at the end of the film, I would have given this movie a much lower rating. This scene rejuvenated my attention and made the ending fly by. It not only sets up for a second Han movie, but also ties in the Clone Wars series/movie...finally. When Disney came out and said they were canon, it seemed like they were hesitant on touching anything to do with the prequels... until now. I think that if you are a Star Wars fanatic, like myself, you should definitely go see this movie in theatres. My true rating for this movie is a 6.5/10, but since I have to round, I'll round up.

Captain America: The First Avenger9
Feb 15, 2018
This movie probably strikes a better cord with me because of my love for war movies. Going into the movie, I was skeptical because I did not know a lot about the origin of Captain America. I was wonderfully surprised with this new-concept that was used for a backstory. Peggy Carter was perfectly cast and viewers could sense great romantic tension on screen. This movie is tied with Iron Man I for the best movie(s) in Phase One of the MCU. My true score of this movie is 9. I would highly recommend to anyone interested in Marvel, or even just war movies in general!

Thor7
Feb 14, 2018
The beginning of this movie felt like it was moving at a snails pace. Once we started learning about the Norse Mythology and how it was going to play into the universe, I was hooked. Great acting by Hemsworth and Portman really helped this movie grow. My true rating is 6.5, but I'll round up. Obviously, if you are a Marvel fan... must watch.

Iron Man 27
Feb 13, 2018
Due to Infinity War coming out in four months, I've decided to rewatch the MCU universe in order. Here is my review: I watched this movie directly after Iron Man 1. I think that could have hinged the rating. Although I believe this movie is good, I was looking for more character building. Since the first one was action packed, I wanted to learn more about Tony Stark or even Potts. This movie had great acting, but could not live up to the first one due to a story that had multiple climaxes with unappealing solutions. Even though that seems harsh, I truly did love the movie. That is why I am rating this sequel a perfect 7. Other words... It was perfectly above average. Everyone should see if they are a Marvel fan. - JH

Iron Man9
Feb 12, 2018
Since Infinity War is coming out in five months, I have decided to watch all of the MCU in order and review them accordingly. Iron Man being the starter of this MCU had a big responsibility that one can not/ should not overlook. Although this movie has very little character building (unlike almost any first movie in a franchise... ever), the action and story drive this movie to be an instant success. RDJ finds his grove in this role and makes it his own. Gweneth Paltrow is the perfect support. My score is 9/10// Everyone should watch.

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle4
Dec 27, 2017
Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle was a movie that I had no desire to see right away when it first hit theatres. I am a fan of the 1998 Jumanji original movie, so going with the family over holiday seemed like a good idea... eh. Let's start with the dialog/ script. It is extremely juvenile. There are multiple awkward sequences and jokes that miss the mark. The teens in this movie were not great, possibly because of the "corny", predictable script they were given. The jokes were aimed at an older audience, stereotyping "millennials". It rouse did not work, even though it was carried on through the entire movie. The only saving grace in this movie were Kevin Hart, Dwayne Johnson, and Karen Gillan. Their ad-lib moments and their chemistry is the only thing that made this mess watchable. If I had to give my true rating of this movie, I would give it a 3.5. This movie missed the mark with me and fell below my already low-set expectations. With the nature of the attempted humor, I think the targeted audience is 37-55.

Spider-Man: Homecoming10
Jul 14, 2017
To start this review off, I originally had no expectations for this movie. Although I am a big Marvel fan, Spider-man has always lacked excitement from me. The backstory, like Batman, has been overdone poorly multiple times. Spider-Man: Homecoming blew my mind by the quality of the movie. Since it assumes that the viewers know Peter Parker's backstory, it is able to jump right into the story line after Civil War. This movie has a great 1980's high school/ love story feel that everyone loves. The actors themselves were cast perfectly. Tom Holland, Zendaya and Laura Harrier were great in their roles and had great chemistry on screen. Jacob Batalon was the perfect person to play Peter Parker's best friend. You can sense the off-screen friendship throughout the entire movie. Michael Keaton was, of course, great as well. Coming into this movie, I was afraid he was going to steal the show from all of the young actors. Although Keaton's performance was fantastic, Holland held his own. This movie had very little flaws, in my opinion. It never felt like the movie dragged. The movie made me excited to see what they will do next with Holland and Zendaya. With her as MJ, events will start to spark in the next installment. I would give this movie a solid 9.75, which is the highest rating I have given. I think it is the best Marvel Superheros movie that has been put out so far. ...oh and Robert Downey Jr. was great reprising his Iron Man role. Set the next Avengers movie up nicely. Now... go see it!!! - JH

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 27
May 13, 2017
This was a funny movie that lacked intriguing plot. The comedic scenes throughout this movie made it enjoyable to all ages. I am surprised and disappointed that Marvel did not incorporate the Infinity Stone into the plot (to set up the Guardians' role in Infinity Wars. Introducing the new villain in the credits felt out-of-place to me. I would rate this movie a 7.4. I could not round it up to an 8 due to the boring plot sequences. I also felt like they did not enhance Chris Pratt's character AT ALL. I feel like Zoe Saldana and Dave Bautista (surprising as it is) carried the movie. I would recommend this movie to everyone, including non-Marvel fans. I do not feel like you had to have seen the first GOTG to understand this one. I think the movie was good, but not as good as the first GOTG.

This review is from a movie viewer who has not seen the last X-Men Movie: I was surprised how much I loved this movie. It had action, emotion and a great plot. There were barely any references to the previous movies, so I had no obstacles with my viewing experience. The warning is that there is blood... a lot of blood. If you can get past the gruesome death scenes, you will absolutely love this meaning. My true rating of this film is a 8.75, so I rounded up and gave it a nine. This isn't a movie to take the kids, but the adults will absolutely love it. This movie makes me want to rewatch all of the Wolverine/ X-Men movies. Go see it and enjoy!

Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates6
Mar 13, 2017
I will admit that I only watched this movie for my love of Anna Kendrick. However, the movie as a whole was better than I was anticipating. The plot did not seem to lag, like other comedies of this nature tend to do. I do not know if this is due to four strong actors playing the bulk of the material, but I liked it. Things I didn't like was the sudden switch in moods. I will not spoil, but I thought there was a sudden attitude switch that didn't transition as well as it could have. Overall, I would recommend this movie to people who like the inappropriate comedies. I enjoyed it.
