Iron Man 2 sets gold standard for sequels thanks to Robert Downey Jr.'s Stark performance.

A movie franchise can only take us by surprise once, and by that measure, Iron Man 2 is a preordained letdown. But so much of what gave the first film its gas — is still here.

The charismatic chaos **** billionaire: A 5.0-star sequel that proves Tony Stark is best when making trouble.100429 (5.0)I watched this in the theater in 2010. Having loved the first one so much, I doubted if a sequel could ever match up—but it absolutely did. If the first film was about escaping a literal cave, this one opened up a whole new set of "caves" full of complications. It was a rhythmic cycle of problem, solution, problem, solution! The best part is Tony Stark himself; he’s a walking mess of problems, and that’s exactly what makes him so lovable. A definitive 5.0 for a sequel that kept the engine running at full speed.

Only a shadow -- if an agreeable and harmless one -- of its predecessor film.

Isn't as much fun as its predecessor, but by the time the smoke clears, it'll do.

"Everything is achievable through technology," a character says more than once in Iron Man 2. Not so.

As sequels go, this one is acceptable, nothing more, nothing less.

Well, that didn't take long. Everything fun and terrific about "Iron Man," a mere two years ago, has vanished with its sequel. In its place, Iron Man 2 has substituted noise, confusion, multiple villains, irrelevant stunts and misguided story lines.

Iron Man 2. Consequences of revealing the identity. Also good and cool is the new Iron Man. The appearance of new faces only improved the cinema. Robert Downey Jr. The sequel looks even better than the first movie.

Iron Man 2 is more enjoyable than it is good. It's fun to watch, but it's a downgrade from its predecessor. Tony is the same person he was before, but they showed his egotistic side more, which I liked. In the first movie I liked Rhodes more, he feels like a different character. That may be because of the recast, but I think it's mainly because the writer is also different. I liked the antagonist to some extent, but the idea isn't original and he is not menacing. I liked that we got to know more about the SHIELD and Stark Industries' past. The dialogues were a lot less funny. I liked the technical aspects a lot less. There was less practicality and CGI was overused. The cinematography had nothing special to offer. The casting is still great, while the acting performances are good. Iron Man 2 is not as good as the first, but I enjoyed it a lot, because of its likeable characters.

Not nearly as airtight as the first film. The sequence of events doesn't feel as neatly put together. I'm not big on the acting of the antagonists, though the protagonists do fine. I wasn't really blown away by any particular moment, though there was some good stuff in there. I wasn't really into the action by the end, either. It felt like they nerfed it because they felt they needed to end it a specific way. Overall, it's not bad, there are enough different parts throughout the 2-hour runtime to keep it entertaining, but it's definitely closer to a typical superhero flick than its predecessor.

People forget so easily this was the 3rd movie in the new (at the time) MCU. It wasn’t that great…and ppl forget it so easily. I say this as a MCU fan and RDJ fan. Before this they released The Incredible Hulk which was worse. After this Thor and Cap.A FA both which are average. Then came Avengers = Good 8/10.
