Decent platformer but can be very frustrating, especially those bridge levels. Don't know what it is but the ledge detection & hit boxes just seem off

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart10
Oct 4, 2021
Hands down best graphics I've ever seen. Thought it would be a kids game but it's still phenomenal as an adult (for reference I played on the difficulty 1 up from normal). & once you get the skates it just feels good cruising around everywhere. Just a real chill game that I wanted to keep playing. So enjoyable I actually went for the platinum which I wouldn't normally do. I don't get into the fanboy stuff but this & Returnal have almost been worth the price of ps5 alone.

Returnal10
Oct 4, 2021
This game is a masterpiece, & the best game currently on ps5. The first truly next-gen feeling game. The graphics are decent without being mind blowing, but gameplay/gunplay are top notch, & the bosses are phenomenal. It is hard but there is progression, so each run isn't necessarily a waste if you die, but the consequences are still major, so keeps you on your toes. Must play game imo.

Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales8
Oct 4, 2021
Spiderman on ps4 was one of my fave games of all time, and while this one is not less good, it doesn't add a whole lot imo, & very short. They've clearly used Miles & friends to shoehorn in some minorities but it's pretty seemless, so props to them for keeping both sides happy & not ruining the franchise at the same time.

I'm a **** for soulsborne games so was always going to love this one. If you've played dark souls you pretty much know what you're getting here. Looks pretty good on ps5

In fairness I only played this 5 years after release. Was expecting a game just for kids but turned out to be decent. Decent graphics & the guns are all fun to play around with.

Ghost of Tsushima10
Oct 4, 2021
Epic game. Combat & story are good, & the graphics are the best I've seen on PS4. I still probably prefer the combat & bosses on Sekiro but that is one of my faves of all time. Spewing I didn't know the director's cut was coming out before playing it, because I'm not going back now.

Surprisingly awesome puzzle game, and not easy. Some levels seem impossible & then when you nail it it's really satisfying. Totally different but reminds me of the Swapper in terms of being a series of brain benders. Highly recommend

Final Fantasy VII Remake10
Oct 4, 2021
Had my reservations with this as I'm an OG FFVII player who wanted the turn based combat to remain, but pleasantly surprised I enjoyed the new style. Story was good & more detailed than the original. The only downside is the combat got a bit repetitive at times, especially going through that underground tunnel. Highly recommend though to anyone sitting on the fence.

Resident Evil 7: biohazard10
Oct 4, 2021
Playing this in VR is without a doubt the scariest experience I've ever had in gaming or movies. Absolute game changer. Some of the horror scenes are impeccable, & almost trick your brain into thinking it's real. & then other times there's just a general smell of fear in the air. Justifies the VR purchase with this game alone.

Death Stranding7
Mar 22, 2020
Hard to rate as I went through periods of hating it & others where I enjoyed it. The start gave me chronic fatigue. Was literally crashing for an hour or so of sleep each hour I played, but then the game opens up & I was playing for whole days at a time, addicted. But then it gets repetitive and the story drones on, especially the very end. Controls are hit & miss as well, I mean the mechanics when on foot are great & unique, but then the vehicles... dear god they are clunky af. I'll give it a 7 overall but wouldn't go out of my way to recommend it

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild10
Oct 21, 2019
While not a perfect game, the open world created here is a thing of beauty and the game makes you want to explore so much of it. It's so easy to get immersed in it all. 50 hours just went like that. I thought I'd hate moving away from the more linear structure of other zelda games but it's done really well here. I also like the fact that landmarks aren't on the map already, you need to mark it yourself. There's a couple of things that are annoying, like the rain & thunder, the cooking (which additionally makes bosses easy as) and the fact your weapons break so quickly, making you just avoid enemies, but overall you can't rate this game lower than an 8 given the sheer enormity of it without any filler (besides maybe some fetch quests which aren't necessary). A 10 for mine

Golf Story9
Oct 21, 2019
Simple in looks but actually a brilliant, fun game. Half rpg story and half golf game whereby the golf side of things is rock solid. The story's fine as well, and minigames are good. Didn't want to put it down.

I know it's meant to be a light-hearted, silly game and you might get a token chuckle once or twice, but really it's not that great. Way overhyped. One of those game you play with the mrs & have a laugh with her but deep down you just want the game to end

Oct 21, 2019
I still don't know how I feel about this game. I smashed through it without feeling like it was a chore, so I must've I liked it. I think the environment just felt a bit generic or something, can't put my finger on it. The story is obviously sci-fi and complicated but gives you just enough to kind've know what's going on. The gunplay was excellent. Really satisfying each time a bullet hits. & combined with the other abilities, the combat as a whole is really good. A solid 8 overall for mine

A Plague Tale: Innocence9
Oct 21, 2019
Where did this game come from? It wasn't hyped that much but turned out to be unreal. The first 10 minutes made me think it was going to be **** for some reason but it quickly turns that around. The story is one of the best I've ever seen in a game. Reminds me of the earlier seasons of Game of Thrones. The atmosphere is so good The gameplay is unorthodox but good as well. Solid 9.5/10

Undertale7
Oct 21, 2019
Very overhyped game. Don't get me wrong, it's ok, but the walls of 10/10 reviews surprise me. I did like the fighting system though with the minigames, and some of the dialogue's pretty funny, it's just a bit meh overall.

An ok side scroller/metroivania. Most of the game exploration-wise is just decent but the boss fights were the real highlight here and helped make it a solid 7 for mine.

Resident Evil 28
Oct 21, 2019
I did love the original back in the day, and I know this remake was restrained a bit by having to stick to certain gameplay elements, but it just felt too clunky in this day and age. Noticed it the most in boss fights the most. Like the original tho, the game gets under your skin in a real foreboding way, so points for that. Graphics are good as well and it's kind of cool seeing the original game with a movable camera.

Days Gone10
Oct 21, 2019
I saw it got reviewed badly on release & had it wiped off my backlog at one point, but glad I came back to it because I ended up loving this game after a bit of a slow build. I'd say it's a bit of a hybrid of The Last of Us & The Witcher 3. Lots of content as well, took ages to finish. Quality game

What Remains of Edith Finch4
Oct 21, 2019
I played this with my wife and I guess pretended to enjoy it for her sake but really, found it boring and just wanted it to end. In saying that, the story is nice (in a tragic kind of way) but the gameplay, while creative & unorthodox, just had me playing through it for the sake of it, without finding it fun. Can see arty types & casuals loving it tho, just not for me.

Thought this was going to be a run of the mill metroidvania type game but turned out to be really unique with head scratching puzzles. Loved it. You'll sit there for a good period just racking your brains on how to solve it, before eventually getting it. Really satisfying when you do. Really good atmosphere in this game as well

Decent enough game but well overrated. I kept waiting for the moment it suddenly becomes this game that everyone's hyping up, but sadly it just remained run of the mill. Every one I know who's played it says the same thing. Prefer the original trilogy.

Destiny 2: Forsaken10
Oct 12, 2019
Technically I'm covering year 1 & 2 here but this game is so good I had to go cold turkey on it after 12 months as it was literally taking over my life. Possibly in my top 5 games of all time considering the addictiveness. The gunplay is done so well and the allure of better/unique weapons makes the grind feel worth it, especially for raids, where this game took it to a new level for me. Gives the game so much longevity. Honestly I think the people who rubbish this game just haven't gotten to the point where they're ready to raid and/or don't have mates that play it. But each to their own

This has got to be one of the most weirdly underrated games of all time. Unless you're a pleb with no internet or an xbox fanboy, then you're gonna have a good time, especially with a wheel. Not to mention there's a heap of 'offline' stuff anyway. In my top 20 games of all time & still putting out free monthly DLC 2 years on. Bravo

NieR: Automata9
Oct 12, 2019
Admittedly only did the one play through but it was pretty decent, especially the boss fights and stuff where you're constantly switching between different genres (top down shooter, side scrolling, 3rd person, etc). Open world felt maybe a bit boring though. Would give an 8 but since apparently it gets better after the first play through, I'll give it a 9

Absolutely nails the two main categories for me: gameplay and graphics. I wouldn't say I'm a hardcore sim racer but the handling feels amazing. You really notice the tyre performance change depending on wear/rain. Speaking of rain, the dynamic weather adds to the already top notch graphics. After rain you'll notice the sun shine through onto the track & grandstands just a little bit more each lap. Plenty of game modes as well so replayability is high. I'm yet to play online so can't comment on that. Keen for it though. The only flaws I see are in the inconsequential stuff in career mode, like in the interviews you don't even have time to read the responses let alone choose one. & the animations are all the same before each session. A must buy if you have a wheel and don't already have F1 2017

I've had a good think about this and I think this may be my favourite game of all time, on any system. I mean, I've had it over 2 years now and I'm still addicted to it, as are my mates who I play it with. Everyone's seen it by now so no point breaking down the score.

Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice8
Jan 20, 2018
The game has a great atmosphere/story and the combat is excellent, however the puzzles just get a bit tedious and boring. Another slight downside is the camera position during fights. Not so bad early on, but later in the game when you're constantly getting surrounded, you don't know what the enemies behind you are doing & often take a hit that you would've otherwise dodged. Still, a quality game & I'd highly recommend it.
PlayStation 4
Jan 20, 2018
The Evil Within 28
Jan 20, 2018
A decent survival horror game. Bit of a mix of Resident Evil, Silent Hill & The Last of Us but not quite as good as any of them. Considering the first game was so bad I gave up after 2 levels, this is a big improvement. The graphics are excellent & atmosphere is dark and foreboding, I just feel they could've done more with the story. Still, some really good, tripped out moments. Definitely worth playing
PlayStation 4

Uncharted: The Lost Legacy8
Jan 20, 2018
Started off really liking this game, especially on the pro with my new 4k TV, the graphics are unbelievable. Gameplay is fun and the story was good as well, however, the longer you play, the more obvious it becomes they've just gotten the Uncharted formula and shoe-horned all this man-hating, feminist SJW rubbish into it. It's just cringe worthy. I'm all for female lead roles & most others are as well, I mean look at Tomb Raider, Hellblade, Gravity Rush, Bayonetta, etc. Who cares what gender you use. Just do it from the start of an IP, don't just blatantly insert into existing franchises to satisfy your agenda. It's pathetic. Absolutely worth playing though.

Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus7
Dec 27, 2017
I realise there's a lot of love for this game but personally I found it frustrating. I don't know what it is but the gunplay just doesn't sit well with me. I can hold my own in Destiny/COD/Battlefield but here I struggle a bit. Couple that with the unnecessarily hard difficulty (hardly any health, getting flanked out of no where) and it just makes me angry. Also the story has so much potential but they just do nothing special with it.
