I'd say the script is pretty decent. Dialogue can be a bit trite, but it mostly works. CGI though. Rough. Every time it showed up it made me groan with how bad it looked. First gladiator had real tigers. In this we get CGI baboon dogs? Like wtf? Was entertained but pretty mid.

Overall I quite enjoyed this movie, but I found Ralph's obsessiveness to be too extreme and consequentially off putting. His compulsive desire to control the kid is outright abusive and the 180 he does at the end is so abrupt that it portrays the extent of his unhealthy infatuation, (and manipulativeness), as an easily corrected misstep. In reality it's the kind of toxic behavior that'd warrant a cessation of their relationship in order for Ralph to work out his issues. I get that it's a kids movie, but the way they present Ralph's behavior imbues the movie with an insidious message that abusive behavior like Ralph's isn't as big of a deal as it really is in an actual relationship. They could've made conflict out of a less intense issue. Unfortunately, the climax, (based around Ralph's obsessiveness), really soured an otherwise impressive movie for me.

Yah know, I have no doubt in my mind that if Rambo didn't exist, neither would the far cry series. The amount of similarities is uncanny. This movie was always catered to the violence loving, shooter gaming crowd. If you don't like seeing rambo meat shred with a massive gun, you ain't ever gonna like the final rambo

I get the appeal, but this film to me seems like sheer fantasy rather than a portrayal of grim reality. The CIA is depicted as an all powerful entity filled to the brim with raw, omnipresent machismo. Everyone is needlessly vague for the sake of appearing ultra mysterious. There's no sense of formality, professionalism or meticulous enforcement. Instead, we have a couple of government renegade spooks who break the law nonchalant with their band of any way, any day special forces operatives. Mexico is illustrated as a cesspool of constant violence and lawlessness, so naturally the renegades have no issue with kidnapping someone from there so they can bring him back to the US to torture him for information at a domestic black site, (cuzz that's what good neighbors do, yah know?) Torture makes people talk, but it rarely provides good Intel as people will just keep making up lies to stop the torture. But in this, it provides spot on details in a matter of minutes that leads to finding the next piece of the drug cartel puzzle. Though the cartel is brutal, our antiheroes are virtually just as bad. Their mob-like methods are supposed to be interpreted as "for the greater good", but everywhere they go they cause death, suffering and all around chaos to get a little bit of cocaine off the streets. Though the stakes are purportedly stopping someone who likes having their crews rig IED's before police raids, the reality is that if that was something that somehow proved beneficial to drug lords, they'd already be doing it all the time and the cops would be trained to deal with it. But nah, our CIA protectors just have to get one guy and the world is saved. There's no moral gray in this, only black and white idealizations of fighting fire with fire. Near the end both antiheroes reveal themselves as being severely anti-social, as in possessing psychopathic tendencies. Their actions are portrayed as barely contained, pragmatic masculinity, but it's really just a bunch of **** who like hurting people under the guise of government business. I found it an interesting watch, but the ambient vibe of fear, pessimism and anarchy coupled by a 'dog eat dog wins the day' narrative just really is downright delusional.

As someone who thoroughly enjoyed the dynamic between Ferral and Walburg in The Other Guys and the first Daddy's Home, I quite enjoyed the first 3/4 of the movie. I laughed a number of times, but I found the over the top, emotional relationship between farrel and his dad rather cringy. Mel Gibson's performance is kinda hot and cold. He essentially plays the role of an emotionally pent up, contempt prone, booze loving pick up artist, with Walburg being his main source of scorn. Mal talks one of the kids into getting a gun to shoot turkeys, but the kid changes his mind, only for his sister to eagerly pursue the activity instead. I actually liked this part, because it embraces the reality that some individuals like hunting whereas others don't. If a kid wants to do it, (and know what's entailed), I don't see an issue with the age. The movie has a lot of slap stick comedy and more over the top CGI moments similar to the last one, (which I loved). The end is what ultimately disappointed me. It got a little nuts, (to me), with the sheer amount of sappy emotional displays, especially among a crowd of people, that just seemed to go on and on. I would've liked to have seen the characters come to terms with one another in a little more realistic, down to earth fashion. Other than that, I actually thought the plot and comedy mixed really well together. It reminded me of a Lampoon's Christmas.

I really enjoyed this movie. I found the kids quite entertaining and the whole movie's quite eerie. With that being said, I do wish there were more/better scare moments. There were plenty of scenes that had my adrenaline spiking though. Each kid has his/her own experience with IT, but the experiences were often comical until the scary ass **** clown showed up. The clown is quite terrifying, but what I found surprisingly awesome was the strangely psychotic, life threatening yet comedic relationship IT has with the kids. He has this dynamic personality that's really interesting. Sure, he's insane and sadistic, but he values his life just like the kids value their's. So it's like a game of cat and mouse between them. Definitely looking forward to chapter 2!

I found the movie to be technically amazing as far as stunts, CGI, costumes and action scenes go. But I didn't find it very entertaining. There's so little backstory given to the main characters and their personalities just didn't really stand out. They simply got ping ponged from one location to the next until all of them eventually died so as not to conflict with the rest of the movies. The dialogue shared between them is mostly related to advancing the plot as opposed to expressing who the characters really are. They seemed like copy and paste cut outs to me. The action scenes in Star Wars movies have always relied on some suspension of disbelief. But the ridiculousness was just too much for me in Rogue One. A droid casually chucking a grenade behind it's back as a gang of storm troopers round the corner. Donnie Yen one shotting a tie fighter out of the sky with a laser crossbow. A group of conveniently placed metal boxes laid out in front of the empire garrison's main door used by the rogue rebels to ambush dozens of hapless, brain dead storm troopers. And of course Donnie Yen walking across a raging battlefield without consequence muttering the same line over and over like a religious fanatic. Apparently the force is no longer needed for fighting people with it. As long as one has faith in the force they can just walk around in god-mode while the force carries out their unstoppable destiny for them. Oh, and of course there's the oft repeated trope of a main character appearing dead, only to then pop up behind the bad guy, just as the bad guy's about to shoot his gun, only to make it seem like the bad guy shot his gun, when it was in fact the good guy who shot the bad guy in the back, which is revealed to the viewer when the bad guy hits the ground dead. *Cue triumphant music* The movie was just dull and comically predictable for me. But I really wasn't that surprised. Rogue One is most likely all the franchise will ever be. A rehash of cliches, references to the original, comedic interludes and CGI simulations of scenes from the originals for nostalgia's sake. With that being said, I thoroughly enjoyed the darth vader scene at the end. That scene was **** amazing.

I certainly had my fair share of issues with the 2nd and 3rd movies, but I still got some solid entertainment value from them. Stranger Tides just wasn't engaging for me. The characters, dialogue and plot all felt pretty flat. The PoC movies have always been over the top, unrealistic entertainment, but this one didn't really pull that off like the others did. I didn't find Jack nearly as amusing either. In fact, I find his character to be increasingly confusing as the series goes on. His purpose isn't so much to just go about his own thing as it is to best assist the plot in whatever bizarre way he can whilst appearing as if he's just doing his own thing. There's no consistency to his motives. It kind of bugs me too the way main characters just carelessly back stab and double cross one another despite helping each other out so many times throughout their journeys. I get that they're pirates and that the pirate image is one of ruthlessness and opportunism, but the main characters never quite seem convincingly ruthless. In fact, they seem to look for any excuse they can get not to be ruthless, whilst making it seem as if it's part of some great, senseless master plan. Yah, just wasn't my cup of tea.

The special effects and stunt work in this movie are great. And the acting, for the most part, is quite good. What fell flat for me was what felt like a lack of substance. We learn a bit about the several men and the plight of the townsfolk is done well. The villain is made out to be quite despicable, which certainly adds some weight to things. But when it comes to the actual shootouts (there's two big ones), it feels like a montage of badass kill maneuvers rather than actual shootouts. What I mean is that for all the style and flare, there is very little of the fighting that actually feels real. Especially the final showdown, there are literally dozens upon dozens upon dozens of guys just randomly popping up around the town sitting atop of their horses just waiting for someone to do a badass take down of them. The initial charge there appears to be maybe a couple dozen of the baddies, but somehow despite blowing up half of them with dynamite and surprising them with a hidden trench filled with armed villagers, they continue to pop up around the town in bunches of 3 just spinning around in circles on their horses getting shot. There's a gatling gun that's used later in the fight by the bad guys even though there killing some of their own men. Why this gun wasn't used to open up the fight, (kind of like bombarding with artillery fire), is beyond me. There's no flanking maneuvers. The bad guys run at the town head on, while the good guys later charge at the gatling gun head on. But I know, I'm just beating on a dead horse. Bottom line is the action is all flare without care. So, I found it somewhat amusing to watch, but I didn't really feel attached to the characters or the townsfolk, who were basically just fodder for the bad guys to kill while the good guys hip fired their 6 shooters like a cliche straigh outta the 60's. (Oh and don't worry. No good guy ever just holsters his pistol. There is always the double spin that somehow makes really loud windmill noises while they're doing it).

Don't get me wrong, I tend to like vulgar, outlandish comedy, but for me this movie was like having a bad acid trip. There's a number of scenes that are outright disturbing. I get that it's all food involved, but when they intentionally present the food as people the **** that goes on is actually quite horrific. It's the kind of movie where a lot of the jokes are the exact same jokes done over and over again. Mainly sexual innuendos and ethnic/sexuality stereotypes. I found it amusing for a bit, but it becomes desensitizing. And the cannibalistic ****... my god. Utterly terrifying is all I have to say about that.

Robert De Niro teaches boys how to become men by giving them lessons on work place apparel (aka always wear a suit), organization (aka desks never look like they're actually being used, but rather preserved for a tour of scholars to marvel at the immaculate symmetry) and by revealing to them that real men carry handkerchiefs so they can offer it to the crying ladies. Asides from that De Niro serves as Anne Hathaway's father, friend, life coach, therapist, zen master and all in all manly man swag master shoulder to lean on. So much so that they spend a night in bed together wearing bath robes while Hathaway cries. I'm not kidding, it actually happens. Also the script writer gets to vicariously vent through Anne Hathaway's character by going on a rant about how men these days all look like children with all the video games, t-shirts and neck beards. Everybody knows real men wear suits, drink vodka martinis and introduces themselves by saying their last names first. Oh, and after cheating on Hathaway her husband wins her back with part of his little speech including this line, "It's a confusing world out there, and who I am got messed up for a minute." Don't yah just hate when in this confusing world you find yourself sleeping with your wife one minute and then with another woman the next? I think we can all relate to that. See, any affair can be smoothed over just by reminding your significant other that the world is confusing. For example, 'I don't know what happened honey! One minute we were making love, the next minute I was f$*#ing your best friend... Please take me back I was confused!'

The movie has good production value and it can be quite entertaining if you know nothing about WW2. It's a ridiculous movie. In the tank battle the Tiger is all alone. Tigers always had infantry support and were accompanied by other tigers. Second, Tiger crews were highly trained and did not simply charge across fields into multiple enemy tanks. The crews took advantage of the Tiger's superior range and tried to position their tanks where they had a tactical advantage, ideally involving partial cover. The final battle is simply ludicrous. SS units were highly trained and always had scouts ahead. They used flanking maneuvers and panzerschrecks to destroy tanks by firing at their weak points. SS troops did not simply charge into tanks getting mowed by machine gun fire. I just couldn't get into it because of how much creative liberty was taken. It's more of a WW2 fantasy film than anything else.

I found it a easy movie to watch, but I felt it could've been better. The voice acting and animation is mostly top notch. Where the movie kinda falters is in the plot. The movie starts off strong with a lot of warm hearted humor and amusing pet antics, but the movie takes a sharp turn once the pets leave their homes. It becomes more of a dark drama as opposed to a children's comedy and naturally the humor starts to wear thin due to the grim nature of the plot. There's still some good pockets of entertainment throughout the movie, but I felt it could've been a lot better if it'd remained more upbeat. (Nobody's made this comparison, but I thought it had a similar premise as Lady and the Tramp 2, except considerably darker).

It's a very absurd movie, but in that respect it's no different than everyone's beloved super hero action porn. Definitely a lot more fleshed out than the first. I was able to get quite attached to the characters and though the story was a bit slow at times the second half really gets going. It has a very mad max feel as if for 12 hours the country falls into an apocalypse. In the end though if you can't role with the silly premise than it won't be enjoyable and there's quite a bit of brutality to it so it's only going to appeal to a niche audience. (The Fight Club kind of audience).

I'm all for some bad ass action, but the corniness of this movie frequently made me cringe. There's parts that make no sense, like a broken gun suddenly working and a 'jump in front of a bullet to save someone' moment WHILE HOLDING A LOADED GUN! The main characters are constantly standing in front of point blank automatic fire that sprays all around them in a perfect silhouette. The whole movie is just really silly with no stakes to it because the main characters are invincible. All they do is spin in circles all the time while firing dual pistols in all directions. It sounds cool, but this movie manages to make it all really lame. All in all I found it pretty boring.
