Sicario works on every level. It’s also fairly prescient, coming at a time when America rages on about the ethics of border control and the mounting war on drugs.

The violence of the inter-American drug trade has served as the backdrop for any number of films for more than three decades, but few have been as powerful and superbly made as Sicario.

Sicario là phim hành động – tâm lý về cuộc chiến ma túy đầy căng thẳng, nơi luật pháp và đạo đức bị thử thách.

One of the best if not the best hidden ops action moves! Brilliant cast selection.

Those who go to a Villeneuve production, Sicario included, must be prepared for intense suspense, moral ambiguity, and an ending that doesn't conform to Hollywood norms.

We Got This Covered
The acting, craft, and tone of Sicario are so precise that the absurdity of this cartel yarn is both its greatest weakness, and maybe its entire point.

Each set piece is orchestrated with aplomb - a raid on a tunnel under the border being a particular stand out - but Sicario is kept grounded in reality. Villeneuve keeps his focus tight on his small group of characters and though the plot is complex, it fits the Byzantine intricacies of the problem and the obscure motivations of the operators.

Denis Villeneuve's film views life in the age of the modern-day drug war as an ever-crescendoing existential nightmare.

There’s not much fault to find with Sicario on the level of craft or performances, just its rather sputtering momentum, and the lack of a higher purpose.

A masterclass in building tension, Sicario is the sort of film that Hitchcock would be proud of.

In these main character's lines of work, anticipation is always felt when moving closer to the capturing of their targets. The film does a thorough job of creating that kind of tension. Character's expressions and reactions are focused on in close up shots when they are thinking about their next mission, and considering the twisted outcomes of stopping such horrendous people. However, I believe this film is more about the dramatic feelings of the characters rather than a realistic perspective of what DEA agents fighting crime is really like. The opening shot should have been a focus on the mission ahead of these agents and the anticipation of where their headspace is at. It should have focused on the environment they were in like shots of them driving through a barren desert without much infrastructure, industrial development or communities around. We should have been seeing these agents prepare for that raid like how they handle their guns or focused in thought of praying that they make it home after this. Instead what we get is a close up shot of the anxiety of Kate's (Emily Blunt) face and Reggie's (Daniel Kaluuya) empathetic anxious reaction towards her. That is good in getting into the headspace of these characters to understand that it is a tense moment, but we don't see the tension of the situation because most of that is saved for the shock value of the action scenes. The actions scenes happen quickly without much ambience or atmosphere. These scenes are somewhat boring to watch because they don't create a real tone. There is action happening on screen but the camera doesn't follow it enough. So much time is spent on what the characters are feeling and the expressions on their face, but not enough time is spent on what the agents are doing. More tracking shots would have been helpful to see what these characters are feeling in the moment of their raids. The film isn't so much about the jobs they do, it is about the emotional weight of how these characters feel about what they do.Unfortunately we never get in the headspace of these agents to understand how they get through these horrific experiences. When this could have offered a realistic depiction of the mental anguish and coping these people go through, instead we're seeing a melodramatic show of these specific character's reactions to scenes of pure shock value. This is a much less valuable view of the subject matter made by people who probably know nothing of the real life experience DEA agents actually go through. That makes this film feel like less of a film of the everyday experiences of DEA agents, and more of a film to show off scenes of wild things happening. I believe what the film cares more about is the shock value of being law enforcement against dangerous cartel murderers and killers. The film doesn't show the everyday lives of these people or the conscious moments of their missions. It focuses on showing them going through the motions of their feelings, which is only interesting if you're invested in the characters. This film isn't about what it's like to be a DEA agent, it's just about characters reacting to crazy things happening.

Sicario" (2025) is a film that impresses with its strong visual presentation, particularly its cinematography, but ultimately falls short of delivering a truly compelling narrative. While the film creates a tense and atmospheric experience, its story struggles to fully engage the **** film's strongest asset is its cinematography. The visuals are striking and impactful, effectively capturing the gritty realism and tension of the film's subject matter. The use of lighting, camera angles, and composition contributes significantly to the film's overall mood and atmosphere. However, the film's narrative struggles to maintain a strong grip on the audience. The plot feels somewhat thin and lacks the depth and complexity needed to fully invest viewers in the characters and their motivations. The pacing can be uneven, with moments of intense action interspersed with slower, less engaging **** performances are adequate, but the characters are often underdeveloped, making it difficult to form a strong emotional connection with them. The dialogue, while functional, lacks the sharp wit and memorable lines that could elevate the film's impact. While "Sicario" (2025) offers a visually impressive cinematic experience, its narrative shortcomings prevent it from being a truly satisfying film. Its strong cinematography and atmospheric visuals are commendable, but the lack of a compelling story and engaging characters ultimately leaves the viewer wanting more.

Overrated movie. Decent acting from everybody but Emily Blunt spends most of the movie smoking cigarettes while looking confused and worried at the same time. Her character would never have been chosen for the mission if anybody had checked her psych profile. Why her buddy tags along doesn't make sense. This is not a movie about drug trafficking. Its a government sanctioned revenge story which flippantly looks through the window at a major problem but uses it only as a backdrop for Blunts dilemma.

The major problem with Sicario, aside from the boardroom bureaucrat banter, is that the main character is completely ineffective from every angle. She doesn't cooperate and falls into easy trap after easy trap for being such a best-of-the-best outsider. The second problem that drags this one down to the ground is the dialogue. Conversations are mere snippets of sentences trying to relay the point that the operation is a secret...along with everything else. The speaking parts just aren't very unique. It's kinda like something a video game developer would whip up to get to the heart of a bloody video game about, oh, lets say Mexican drug cartels. By the time it reaches action, it hardly feels justified. It barely touches the variety and vision of Traffic for being so often compared to it.
