Homefront is certainly one of the most unique shooters I’ve ever played and one of my favorites. Driven by an ingenious and surprisingly compelling plot and a dark and dreary, realistic setting Homefront uses a very mature tone to deliver a memorable story. But given its fundamentally flawed gameplay structure and short length, it's no wonder why many gamers dismissed it as a generic shooter. The game controls & feels like a typical shooter and looks like a game that’s several years old, and most importantly, features a very brief campaign that quickly turns into standard shooting galleries.
Fallen Order is one of the very best games of 2019, beaten only by Control for GOTY in my personal score. With a compelling story suited for both fans & newcomers, Respawn managed to capture the magic of growing as a Jedi, overcoming impossible odds, and the power of hope in the midst of despair. Mixing several successful gameplay and level design elements, they crafted an excellent formula that could propel the franchise into the stratosphere, this could be a whole new line of games, with Fallen Order being just the first entry into this reboot series.
Single player only: Halo Infinite is the best game from 343 Industries, a good return to form, and my favorite Halo Campaign: another epic journey with a new strong focus on emotional drama between the gigantic characters. A marvelous soundtrack connects us with our beloved Master Chief and this new world. And combat is the best this series has ever had. After 6 long years filled with many setbacks and worries, 343 Industries finally delivered my favorite Halo campaign. One that will resonate with veteran Halo fans and will inspire a new generation of players to explore this beautiful universe.
MW II features state of the art gunplay, realistic combat and lighting-fast FPS mechanics with unprecedented graphics, sound design, and a killer soundtrack. The focus on strong character development and the ingame dialogs are the highlights of this package, but a fundamentally flawed plot, with plenty of dumb stuff, prevented the Story from reaching new heights. After completing the campaign I feel positive about this new installment and can't wait to see where they take this reboot story next. I'm also left with dislike about some mission design choices, Infinity Ward's attempt to keep things fresh created the worst two COD missions I have ever experienced. "Violence and Timing" and "Alone".
House of Ashes proves that the Dark Pictures Anthology is on solid footing after a flawed second entry. By focusing on a USMC & CIA joint task force deployed in Iraq, we get a refreshing cast of characters, and thanks to its controlled rhythm, its claustrophobic atmosphere, and its improved plot, it far surpasses its predecessors despite its many flaws and shortcomings. Loved the underground Sumerian temple setting!! It’s so wildly different in tone and theme that it feels complete apart from all supermassive games. These changes, and the developer’s maturation in storytelling, makes House of Ashes the series’ strongest entry.
Despite its shortcomings, Man of Medan is still a fun experience. As a show of the potential for the Dark Pictures Anthology, the game is largely a success, but as a first episode, it leaves much to be desired. It’s a flawed but promising start for what’s to come. Supermassive Games has fulfilled its mission of perfecting the formula of heavily constrained gameplay and very low interaction with the world, by placing the focus on the impact of making dialog choices, and how you react to quick time events (QTE). This takes away interactivity but provides unprecedented agency. is a true evolution of the interactive movie genre, and horror fans owe it to themselves to climb aboard. It’s a proper debut to the anthology series. It has the spooks, fun cast, and unforgiving consequences like we experienced in Until Dawn.
Masterpiece. Ragnarok rocked 2022 and raised the bar for the gaming industry once again with another fantastic story, more gigantic characters, and exceptional writing. Sony Santa Monica proves they still got it! with excellent execution of complex gameplay mechanics, addictive combat and rewarding exploration, stunning visual art, and incredibly strong, impactful character drama... I could go all day. By all accounts, Ragnarok excels upon its predecessor in every way with an experience that repeatedly toys with expectations and leaves a long, lasting impression on the player.
Crysis 3 brought a phenomenal closure to the Crytek Trilogy in 2013, blending the New York City streets from its predecessor with the Original Crysis deep jungle in the NY Dome, in an effort to address fans and mainstream critics who branded Crysis 2 as the black sheep. While I personally loved everything about the game, others were turned off by its New York backdrop setting, or the lower scope level design with more linear environments. Crysis 3 lives up to the series legacy, with unprecedented graphics and visual art, combined with a compelling and more personal story that answers all lingering questions, the game feels like Christmas all over again for fans of sci-fi action-oriented adrenaline rush experiences. Many fans and critics found the game to be extremely easy and short. I agree both recruit and soldier are way too easy, but completing the game on the hardest difficulty takes mastering of the nanosuit and combat encounters. I'm pretty sure those who found the AI too dumb and the game too easy did not experience the hardest difficulty. As for the length, I think it's perfect, when the combat loop starts becoming repetitive, the game ends as the combat reaches its climax before you can start feeling the experience drags on. And after a hard-fought battle, you get a satisfying conclusion of the trilogy.
A Plague Tale: Requiem is everything that one could want from a sequel to the 2019 Innocence masterpiece. It's more ambitious, action-packed, and surprisingly more emotional and meaningful. The story remains as engaging as ever, with a heavy commitment to his cast of compelling characters. The overall presentation is stellar as before, but the graphics are on a whole new level of stunning quality, along with the visual art. feels like a spread of the wings, to forge an unmistakable identity. But despite the technical and creative achievements, Asobo only got one Award and few nominations. I'm sure that given time, they will get more recognition. I consider Requiem to be the 2022 Game Of the Year.
Despite its flaws, COD Ghosts delivers exactly what fans of the franchise have grown to expect. A short Single-player Campaign, filled with frantic gunplay, absolutely stunning moments, pure perfection in the shooting mechanics, and overall high-quality fun. The emotional storyline and new characters failed to impress the public, but still got praised by a small minority of gamers like me who actually loved the game. Call of Duty: Ghosts' story centers around two Jarhead brothers, Logan and Hesh, who are facing a fictional superpower called The South American Federation. After the energy-producing deserts were wiped out by the wars, the US economy started to crumble. In that wake, the Federation united all of south America under one banner and started their build-up of military and economic power. The game starts when Federation special forces take control of a secret Orbital Kinetic weapon called Odin and use it against the US, destroying most of the country and population. This setting is refreshing, considering the overexploited Russian and middle eastern terrorists as the bad guys. But for people like me who live in Argentina, this setting is too sci-fi, It would be more believable if the aliens were coming to invade us, rather than the corrupt and decrepit Latino states could build up military and economic might. After 10 years of fighting and being on the defensive, Logan and Hesh are recruited into the Ghosts, an elite squad of soldiers who may be the USA's best weapon against the Federation. Infinity Ward failed to deliver the emotional storyline and compelling new characters they set out to create, as was shown in the trailers and when they talked about the game, they clearly were after doing something meaningful. Many critics said Ghosts is more of the same and that the story is dull and boring. Despite that, I love the Story and the characters. It's dumb, might be cheesy, yes. But I've come to love this campaign even more that the MW trilogy. And let's face it, every COD campaign is about as fun as they are dumb. ENHANCED COD Call of Duty has always relied on its super epic set-piece moments to create a memorable, action-packed experience. The frequency of these intense scenes has been upped a notch in Ghosts. It's those moments of pure spectacle, which Infinity Ward does so well, that sell the campaign and see the player right through the endless shooting. There's a certain sense of familiarity to it all, with new features every now and then to keep it fresh. The weapons feel amazing, the vibration implementation is great, and the shooting feels tight. At the end of the day, Activision is always trying to give players what they want, even knowing that is an uneven constantly changing landscape. I think it all boils down to keeping the same formula, doing small changes and twists, but keeping it COD. Endure the critics for the lack of innovation, but get those sales by giving people what they want. That said, the campaign does have its strong moments. As always, COD keeps the gunplay fresh mixing the encounters with the occasional combat hardware. In ghosts, you get to pilot a chopper and even commandeer a tank. There is a lot of variety in the level design. You'll shoot your way through new and interesting environments. From an orbiting space station in zero gravity, defending the beaches of California, a Night **** infiltration during new years eve, and even swimming with the sharks in the ocean. It makes for a visually intriguing contrast to the been-there-done-that feeling of rolling down choppers and shooting middle eastern terrorists carrying AKs. Infinity Ward dropped the pre-mission briefing videos/load screens from previous games and replaced them with stylish cutscenes that further serve this new plot and character focus. But since many gamers experienced them to be less than memorable, it ended up being a shame, those military situational awareness videos built tension and got gamers invested in the mission.
It has been 7 years since the Order 1886 was released on the eve of the PS4 Launch. It wasted and unique opportunity as the new generation of games was yet to arrive at the new platform, everyone who got a PS4 was eager to try every PlayStation-exclusive AAA game they could get their hands on. That was a once-in-a-lifetime window that ready at dawn could not capitalize. At that time, we were used to PS4 games running at 30FPS, but we were OK to consider it next gen as long as it was in 1080p. But since the devs could not get the game to run stable at 1080/30FPS they had to come up with this crazy [original] idea about those black bars giving the game that "cinematic feel". Those black bars were a red flag for me. I was interested in the game concept, but when negative reviews started to arrive, I realized that the black bars were not the only red flag, the shooting and controls were clunky and bad for the majority of gamers, and the combination of up-close camera with black bars made for some difficult to manage 3rd person encounters in which the only thing you see is your characters back. In the following 7 years, I've grown fond of PS exclusives and started to give some forgotten games a shot. Been waiting for a next-gen patch for the order 1886 for 2 years now, and it has become evident that Sony has long buried this mistake and wants nothing to do with it. So, I've tried to install a nonofficial patch from illusion that removes the black bars but lowers resolution to 720p (figured that's a nice tradeoff for me) but only works with a 3rd party app that is not supported on PS5. Finally, there was no way to play the game but its original state :/ While playing The order 1886 I was really surprised with the overall graphics quality, and the storytelling mechanics implemented are awesome! You can tell they took a page from naughty dog in the way they transitioned the lore from cinematic into gameplay and combat dialogue for a remarkable experience. I remember feeling "this game is NOT for everyone" while watching the long cinematics and taking the guided tour through the gothic city corridors. I really enjoyed the way the game takes its time to build the world around you, the characters, and their own arcs, it's all top-tier work. But many gamers might find that approach boring. After completing the game, I gave it a 2nd run and felt positive about the experience. That's why I'm giving it an 8. Despite its shortcomings and mistakes, The order 1886 was a great experience and fun game to play.
Unique game and combat loop experience!! Sifu is so addictive, I spent tons of hours learning the gameplay mechanics, very simple yet quite difficult to master, at least in medium difficulty. Everything is so minimalistic, the creative design, the music, the controls, the combos, it's all so simple and perfect. I can just relax at the hideout, listening to the soundtrack and moving the camera around. I'm still amazed that I've spent so many hours playing a five-level game, replaying them over and over again. My 1st hours with the game were very frustrating, the enemies were so tough. But as soon as you begin to master the timing of the combat loop, you start becoming so badass. I love how powerful you feel when you kick ass :)
Modern Warfare II is a great sequel to the MW 2019 reboot masterpiece. It has that good COD campaign feel to it, the gameplay mechanics and graphics along with the creative design and strong character development are the highlights of this package. The gunfights and combat dialog are top-notch. After completing the campaign I feel positive about this new installment and can't wait where they take this reboot story next. I'm also left with dislike about some mission design choices that, given a lot of consideration I decided they were not that big of a deal to lower the score. I'm always up for the ride when it comes to a new COD campaign. They are short, action-packed experiences that I can always come back to enjoy. This experience was different. I have mixed feelings about this game. The game crashed several times during (10+) my both playthroughs on regular and veteran, returning to the Xbox home. Some animations get broken, like when an enemy soldier is supposed to transition from walking to running. They would freeze in position and slide their way around. Your teammates' weapons might disappear from their hands from time to time, looking really weird like they are fighting with imaginary weapons. The checkpoint system is unforgiving, but depends on the missions. They are stretched too few, forcing you into some boring repetition of the same gunfights over and over on higher difficulties. The game might create a checkpoint right next to a fully armored badass enemy carrying a semi-auto auto shotgun that would destroy you right after you respawn. There are many bugs that like I've never seen on a COD campaign, probably because I'm playing on launch date. I love the new focus on strong characters!!! They started that in MW 2019, but now every character has deep layers into them and a strong focus on their personalities. I love that they added simple dialog interactions with your teammates. That is built on top of the classic COD chit-chat that I so love. It is one of the most immersive features. The new missions are a blast! But I found some problems with some: KILL OR CAPTURE: The mission design structure is brilliant in general, I loved it, BUT holding heavily armored attacks from an enemy battalion with a squad size INSIDE the downed chopper strength is plain crazy. There is no way trained soldiers would choose to "make a stand" there. AQ forces are equipped with modern gear and mechanized transports. The characters made comments about how Hassan turned AQ into an army. But this modern army charged head-on WW1 style into professional shooters that gun them down... 3 times!!!. I know COD campaigns are crazy, but that was too dumb to feel even real. Did they give them night vision and forgot to equip them with brains? BORDERLINE is amazing, feels like a throwback to BF hardline. Other missions like CARTEL PROTECTION + CLOSE AIR + HARDPOINT + SIN NOMBRE + DARK WATERS feel like classic MW. They are a total blast to play. GHOST TEAM and COUNTDOWN are great too. VIOLENCE AND TIMING is crazy and bizarre, the whole thing feels like a cheap knockoff of the uncharted 4 car chase. But the gameplay mechanics do not suit this type of mission design, leading to some awkward controls and tons of missed jumps that lead to boring repetitions on veteran. Even if you get it right and jump from car to car like a frog, the whole situation is more action comedy than the serious story that intends to tell. But it's not the worst mission of the package. ALONE is the worst mission of the game and the worst mission of the entire COD franchise. I love that they want to make changes to the formula, so it looks like it's evolving, but there are so many directions they could have taken that I curse the day they chose this one. I could write 10 pages about the things I find wrong here. But just one would do. Ghosts starts giving Soap basic survival tips over the radio like the guy is FNG, but they already stated they go way back, this is not some new guy it's a Tier one operator that needs to go to the stealth refresher course. To make tools to Open doors. It's the most boring, repetitive, and dumb mission ever.
Part1 is a great way to re experience one of my favorite games. Feels like a missed opportunity. Hard to give the remake an 8 when I gave the 2013 classic a solid 10 masterpiece, given that this version is way superior to the original, that's for sure. I guess the problem is the 70USD price and the "remake" product tag. If inserting the ps4 disc of the remastered version they would have given you like a 10USD option to upgrade into Ps5 digital version, I would have given the game a solid 10. It's too expensive for a graphic and creative upgrade that is comparable to fan made MODs and has nothing to do with a "remake". The game structure is intact, for those who completed the game several times, we can tell everything is exactly the same. I was waiting for a new DLC story based like left behind, the story about Marlene crossing the US after getting shot, her journey to St Marys hospital, or maybe a history about Joel & Tommy surviving during the 20-year period after that night at the game's intro. But no, nothing. Not a single thing is changed. That's why this game sparked the discussion about what is a remake and what is a remaster. I'm thinking about bluepoint games and demon souls, they kept the original essence while creating a whole new game, a complete overhaul of the game structure, that's the remake for me. I'm still giving it an 8 because I really enjoyed how the Ps5 underlines the tech to boost the storytelling and gameplay experience. There are slight changes, the way Joel expresses his pain in his facial features is amazing and is something new. The haptic feedback & the triggers were nice additions too for "feeling" the world and objects you interact with. It's hard to come to terms with the 70 USD package. I feel they took advantage of my love of this game and really profited from that. I bought the original, and then the remastered, and now a 70USD remake with no upgrade path for previous owners and no additional content. Likewise, I know nobody forced me into buying those games, I guess when you love something you are hooked on it. I love Naughty Dog.
Great way to re-experience the MWII 2009 classic. Impressive graphics and creative design greatly improves the gameplay and inmersion. This is a cult classic that I can come back over and over again, and this remastered version is the ultimate way to experience it. The mision design structure is unique and surpass the 2007 MW prequel.
This remake is a total masterpiece. Played on consoles back in 2019 and now that I upgraded my rig with a 3080ti I was ready to replay re2 at native 4k with ray tracing all ULTRA at 60FPS, what a blast. The graphics and the creative design are the main features here. Inventory management is a mini-game inside the game that kept me compulsively optimizing the space and making decisions about which ITEMS to keep or store. There is a ton of incentives to keep playing the game. After completing the 1st and 2nd run with both characters, I got a cheap DLC to activate all unlocks. I was done with the game by that time, but I kept coming back. Playing as Claire with the military custom, made the whole experience more real for me, as a Female Civilian blasting her way when on places where many trained security forces died was a hard sell for starters. But that military custom with the STARS patch on it made sense for me, and the infinite ammo MP5 and Handgun helped me to replay the game several times without grinding for bullets and ITEMS. I have like 120+ playtime hours on STEAM on this game, given it's a linear single-player story, that is a LOT! And that's indicative of the replay value CAPCOM throw at this package.
What a masterpiece! 20001 return to castle Wolfenstein is one of my favorite shooter classics. The new order reboot of the saga was an explosive and fun new experience, but it lacked that mystical old castle filled with ****, zombies and dark magic secrets that the 2001 classic had. The old blood takes you back to that classic setting while maintaining the new gameplay mechanics and graphics. Some stealth parts are too unforgiving on the hardest difficulties, and the checkpoint system makes for some repetitive shooting galleries as after some heavy encounters with tough enemies, the last standing **** would kill you, so you have to re-run the whole level. There is no waypoint, that's actually cool, but sometimes you get stuck not knowing what to do. Despite those details, Wolfenstein Old Blood is a masterpiece. The story and villains are memorable, and BJ blazkowitz never losses his charm or his passion for killing ****.
Black Flag is the Best AC game ever! The way naval battles and sea exploration is integrated into the regular gameplay mechanics with seamless transitions is the best feature is this package. The golden age of piracy is an interesting period of time to visit and interact with the likes of famous characters of the time like Ben Hornigold, Woods Rogers, Charles Vane, Black beard, and all the historical figures. If we are to rate the AC games based on the historic period, black flag is the least interesting of them all, the 3rd crusade and the American Revolutionary War are way richer and more exciting to explore. What makes AC4 the best AC game is fun, is the most fun game in the franchise ever. You get to do tons of stuff in this open world and there is polish and details everywhere. Some reviews stated that they didn't like the main missions or the main story but for me, it was exciting: Dropping in the middle of the Templar plot and sabotaging their plans, and finding out about the assassins and the secrets that the Caribbean islands hold was a nice trip. I always recommend playing older AC games on PC as the console counterparts are way inferior in graphics and performance. This was solved since Valhalla, and I'm pretty sure future AC games like mirage will solid perform on consoles, but older AC games have a brutal difference between PC and consoles.
2022 review of the 2008 AC. We review old games based on the standards set in the gaming industry by the time that game was released. By that account, Assasins Creed is a masterpiece. This is also my favorite AC game. As a video game, it is the worst and most basic of the series. Every game released later into the franchise would improve upon the fundamentals established in this 1st entry. With that said, the 2008 AC is the most basic and boring of them all. But this game is also the best for me and that has to do with the historic period in which is set, the 3rd crusade is amazing to explore. Richard the Lionheart, Saladin, the Assassins order. Al-tair is a fictional character set in an accurate reconstruction of a historic period. The tense conversations between Al-Tair and his master Al-mualim are the highlights of the story. In fact, we are used to characters that poorly react to strong NPCs. In AC the main character does not speak much, but his lines cut deep into those who interact with him, delivering one of the most interesting characters in a video game. AC is the most basic and boring of the series, but also a masterpiece in storytelling, dialogue, and it's set in one of the most important time periods of human history. Replaying it on PC in 2022 was really fun. Given today's standards, the game is repetitive and dull but has some tense story moments that really make the whole thing worth it :)
I love ACIII. As a junior historian, the AC games were always something more powerful for me than for the average gamer. A chance to dive into a fictional story set in a fixed history period. I loved every AC title. Played the original ACIII on PC back in the day and really enjoyed the end of the trilogy, the Desmond story coming to an end, and the new gameplay features introduced were a blast. This review is based on a recent replay of the remastered version on PC (tried the remastered on Series X but is way too inferior to the PC remastered, recon modern titles like AC Valhalla have great performance on consoles but these older AC entries really shine on PC) The colonial American setting was brilliant. The game starts in 1754 during the French Indian War that led to the 7 years' war. But the majority of the game events take place during the revolutionary war, starting in 1775. You get to see the main character connor / Ratonnagethon take part and even influence the most historic events of that time, he gets blamed for the Boston Massacre in 1770 and takes place in the Tea Party 1773 when the king's tea gets tossed into the sea by angry citizens. I really enjoyed comparing the game events and battles to the actual historical records and seeing how they implemented fiction upon a solid historic framework. After completing the game, I compared my notes taken during gameplay with events during the John Adams miniseries and the movies The crossing and The patriot, both released in the year 2000. There is still a problem with some new gameplay mechanics, The headquarters/homestead evolution system is nice compared with previous entries but still feels incomplete. I can't tell how some of these mechanics were improved upon in the remastered. The convoy trading system is something I ignored completely in the original, and with the remastered, I wanted to give it a try, but it is just dumb and serves no purpose. The main problem is the progression, I guess. I had redeemed some weapons packs from Ubisoft club, but the game would not let me use them "you need to complete sequence 6" but after doing that you are almost in the final part of the game. Weapons are way too expensive you need to complete the game 1st and then do some forts and side activities to get the money to buy good swords, but then as the game is over there is not much to do with the items. The same with the naval missions. Tried to take them head-on at the start and quickly realized that I needed to upgrade the ship 1st to withstand those battles, but that requires a LOT of money. After I completed the game, took on some side activities to gather money and resources and finally upgraded the ship and then only then able to complete the SHIP missions, but they all take place during 1773 as they are prequels to the events of the main story... There is something wrong here. But I was happy that my expensive officer sword would at least be used in the DLC that I intended to engage in after completing all the main game activities, so I was equipped with good tools for the job. The Washington Tyranny DLC was a blast, love the take on an alternate reality where Washington got corrupted by the apple. The new gameplay features were amazing, but here is the shock: you can't carry those special abilities back into the main game. And you can't carry progression from the main game into the DLC, I know there is an alternate universe and all. But still, there is a clear progression design that was not solved during the remastered process. So everything I did during the main game as far as progression, the fancy sword, the upgraded expensive ship... oh my :/ If you enjoyed ACIII, the remastered version is the best way to re-experience one of the best AC of all time. There are clear design flaws in the progression system, but it's only natural since these are the 1st entries of this franchise and many of these flaws were corrected and improved in new releases.
What a Journey! Plague tale was a total surprise for me. The trailers do not represent the actual experience of playing the game. The last of us was the 1st game that made me feel that the characters were not bots with scripted dialog but actual people that react to events in a way so real that was never seen before, and the way the characters evolve their arcs and the way the relationships builds was mind-blowing. Then 2018 God of War blew me away with the relationship between Kratos and Atreos. Seen the recent trailers on the Plague Tale sequel, and the hype or excitement everyone felt about the game, I figured why not, and then the game blew me away. It's a perfectly crafted masterpiece, the weapons you get are meant for you to feel fragile, and it works great, the enemy soldiers are imposing figures that can take you out without mercy if you are discovered. The implementation of stealth is masterful, some encounters are the tensest situations I felt in my gaming life. The graphics are supreme, I was under the impression they were using Unreal Engine 4 to power this game because in some forums many replied that, but doing some research I confirmed Asobo used their "in-house engine" meaning the engine, which I found strange. Many youtubers are talking about AA games made with a low budget and the baseline for that is using 3rd party engines like unreal, but these guys came out of nowhere and created a killer engine with a low budget and executed a masterfully crafted story with stunning attention to detail. Kudos to Asobo they really achieved something. And long live linear grounded single-player experiences :)
Great sequel to the 2013 masterpiece reboot! Everything is improved upon the basics established in Lara's adventure in Yamatai. Now we see tons of action and exploring mixed with an emotional story about an evolving character. I guess the graphics are the star of the show here, the gameplay and combat mechanics were improved too, and stealth gameplay is rewarding, you need to gather some dumb coins, so you can trade them for the pistol silencer at some point in the first part of the game, I don't like that system but the entire game is so great that I don't mind those things. To get the best weapons and equipment you need to search the entire place for those Byzantine coins, luckily all I need is the pistol silencer, otherwise that system would have lowered the game score for me. Also saved by the 20-year anniversary version comes with great automatic pistols from the start, like the moon shadow or something like that, otherwise starting with that old rusty revolver and searching all over for the automatic pistol parts is a mechanic that would have killed the game for me. In the end, they made some design mistakes but were somehow solved or got even with some other proper design mechanics that counter those flaws. Loved the antagonists of both 2013 and 2016 TR games, father Mathias and Constantine are complex and deep psychopaths that provide interesting scenarios for Lara to overcome. As I stated in the 2013 TR review, this is the best Lara ever, loved they dropped the sexualized version of the female character and went all in with this grounded approach that made this Lara my favorite Female action character.
Masterpiece. Back in the day, the Tomb Raider games did not catch my attention. I was playing other video games as a kid, but I always knew about this saga. When the Tomb Raider Reboot came out in 2013, I was stunned. Loved this new realistic Lara, the fact that they drop the dumb dual welding pistols, and she now grabbed the gun like a pro, was it for me. Her body and clothing are more believable now for a female adventurer, I never really get mixing sex and video games, but that formula clearly worked for quite some time. This new Lara is fantastic, you get attached to her walking her journey. This 1st entry is all about "a survivor is born" so is a painful journey filled with hardships and difficult emotional moments. But in the end, we see the Tomb Raider emerge from that. The original PC version released in 2013 is way better that the console definitive edition they released years later. Since the game was released, I completed it several times, and it's always been an exciting adventure to get into Lara's shoes. Love the stealth gameplay, the enemy pre-combat dialogs, the enemy AI is great, and the weapons! Total masterpiece and a great franchise reboot.
When GRFS was released on consoles, I decided to wait for the PC version because of the 30FPS 720p low res low performance that consoles could pull on this game. And then the PC version came, and it was awesome! Got that 1080p 60 FPS with advanced graphic settings, no sweat! I was already set on using this review to recommend everyone to stay away from console versions of the GR future soldier. Before writing the review I checked that many reviews from 2012 hate the PC version stating that it "is a bad console port" I mean I don't know if ts a port or not, the thing is that if you see the game running simultaneously on a PC and a console, you have to be crazy to state that console version is superior... but everyone seems to think that the console version is way superior, I don't understand how... The 1st entries of the Ghost Recon series were hard for me to play because I was a KID and these games had complex gameplay mechanics. Nevertheless, I grew up playing the Ghost Recon saga. Future soldier was a big thing for me about 10 years from now when it was released, I was hooked from the trailers and even though I liked and enjoyed playing Wildlands and Breakpoint, Future Soldier is still my favorite game of the series. After completing Wildlands and Breakpoint I went back to Future Soldier to experience that campaign and realized that I enjoy the scripted driven linear missions. The new entries gave us the freedom to approach and complete missions the way we want to, with tons of weapons and character customizations, they make Ghost Recon Bigger and better, that's for sure. But the open world and open mission engagement is a tradeoff: freedom for immersion. In Future Soldier, your AI teammates are always commenting on everything that's happening around you, mission status, chit-chat about the situation, and always radio chatter with op comms to relay intel and mission progression, makes me feel like I'm part of a badass special forces squad. That's something that was lost on the next GR games, with freedom comes less scripted AI who tends to always repeat the same lines "we have bad guys around" "opening fire" and some more that cycle between encounters. In future soldiers the combat dialog is always based on that given situation, I understand that most people feel comfortable with that freedom immersion tradeoff, they probably feel new entries are more immersive because of this freedom and world customization, but not me. Really enjoyed the raven strike DLC gave more of what I loved, scripted missions with heavy radio chatter about situational awareness that equals full immersion for me. After completing Breakpoint I paid for the season pass, so I could play the Episodes 2 & 3 of the main story, those are built differently from the rest of breakpoint as there is constant radio chatter about situational awareness and objectives changes due to mission status, I was hooked It was a nice throwback to future soldier missions. Some modern youtube videos about GRFS talk about the game graphics as dated, but I don't feel that way, the game looks awesome! You can tell it was not released in 2022, but the game manages to use smoke and volumetric lightning getting a similar result to HBAO+, the textures might be the weakest graphic feature, but it still makes a compelling visual result.
Great Remake! Re3 was one of my favorites back in the day, and this is an extraordinary way to re-experience the classic. Re2 remake was great too, but Mr X suffocated the experience for me, making for some repetitive and frustrating encounters. The way they reduced these encounters with nemesis on Re3 is fantastic, even thou most of them are scripted, everyone one of them is memorable and well-executed. Mr X was more dynamic in theory, but in the practice sometimes can break the gameplay experience and become boring. I think the graphics are great, could not use the latest update to enable Ray Tracing, even in 1080p the game has frequent frame rate drops with my Asus ROG RTX 2060 & Intel I9. Seems like you need more power to run the game at a stable 60 FPS with RT at 1080p. Without RT the game runs really smooth with everything maxed. Loved the way Carlos and Jill character arcs are mixed together. The cat and mouse dynamic with Nemesis are great, as encounters are not that frequent, and the game keeps you guessing when he is going to get the drop on you again. Railgun Jill was so badass, I think she is my favorite female character. I was going to give the game a 9 because Jill is like a terminator, she takes so much damage during the game, and she keeps going, but when nemesis showers Jill with missiles, and she gets up that was kinda too much. But it works for me, It's silly, but she seems so badass that I don't mind.
Masterpiece. Hell's Highway improves upon Brothers in Arms Road To Hill 30 that changed the Military shooter forever. It was no longer about point and shoot, endless shooting galleries, or gunning down hordes of brain-dead enemies that rush to their deaths. Gearbox introduced concepts like fixing & flanking the enemy. We were used to looking at the map to check the current objective, and we started using the map to check possible flanking maneuvers. It was totally refreshing. Hell's Highway is an impressive, highly emotional war story based on Operation Market. A Risky Allied effort to push into the Rhine and end the war sooner. It's an emotional story, with the squad leader and main protagonist Matt Baker suffering from PTSD while trying to come to terms with the loss of fellow soldiers during Operation Overlord. This last entry in the brothers in arms series is a total masterpiece, the gameplay mechanics, enemy IA, everything is improved upon the previous games. But is not perfect, your IA teammates do as you intend most of the time, but often place themselves in the line of fire, so you have to take the broken IA into account when carefully giving orders you can't just send them to that position you have to watch over them in case they get killed for getting in the line of fire. Battles become really hard, next to impossible, when you lose entire squads. The same goes for the Enemy IA, was really improved upon the last games, sometimes they would react to your flanking maneuvers like real intelligent combatants. But sometimes, especially indoors, they will stand still waiting for you to drop them. So the IA looks advanced and fitting, but sometimes broken. That's why I'm sticking with a 9 instead of 10 :)
Masterpiece. Sniper Elite III or "Africa" was the 1st experience of this franchise for me as previous games were boring and repetitive, they did not fit my play style. Both games focused on over-explored WW2 combat scenarios. This is a replay-based review after completing SE4 & SE5. SE3 Introduces new stuff like stealth / adapt & overcome gameplay mechanics, improved AI, and the exciting North African theatre of World War II that is not often explored in games. The cinematics and simple storyline do the job, getting you focused on your targets and build's tension as most missions take place during well-known battles, like the Siege of Tobruk and the Halfaya Pass. I would have preferred a protagonist with a deep character arc or more immersive lore, but I guess Rebellion uses the setting to give us an excuse to Snipe some **** Officers, and that's ok with me. The game has major technical problems, the improved AI works but is still broken and some points, the pacing drops, and the game becomes repetitive, and the graphics look good but dated somehow. Despite these problems, it is a game that I can replay over and over.
Single player only review. Great way to close the modern warfare trilogy and say goodbye to our heroes cap. price and soap. This 3rd entry was criticized upon release date for not innovating and giving us more of the same, and that's true but MW3 is an immensely satisfying shooter with epic firefights that feels like an adrenaline rush every time you go through the campaign. There are some dramatic moments that lost their bite or effect on us given the recycling of resources and scenes. Every bombastic piece that is new, is yet somehow familiar as they all feel the same as previous MW entries. Despite this recycling, the campaign is still a blast to play and the gameplay experience is still satisfying.
Awsome campaign! I'm not into online gaming, so I only buy these games for the single-player experience. Loved it! But there are a LOT of problems with the package: * The game is not available on Steam, and that is the only platform I use for PC gaming. * On the Xbox Store, you can buy the game, but they force Warzone on the install (140GB) * You buy COD MW, but the installed game icon says COD WARZONE * The installation is broken as many already know, when the install is complete the game has everything it needs for you to launch WARZONE but if you just want to play the game you bought, the COD MW single-player campaign, some data packages are missing that you need to manually download and install separately before you can launch the campaign. All of this from watching YouTube videos, as the game never tells you what is going on. * The game performs well on Xbox series X with some occasional stutter. Despite all of these problems that are more product or commercial distribution-related, the game is a blast. Loved the single-player experience, the gameplay mechanics, graphics, etc. This Modern Warfare Reboot gave me tons of fun and immersive modern military shooter experiences.
Rebellion expanded upon everything that made Sniper Elite Africa good. In this amazing Sandbox, you get to make your own experience. You can make it about sniping **** and enjoying the slow-motion carnage, and skip the cutscenes and secondary objectives. You can also ghost the German Army, accomplish every objective, and never be detected, killing only the minimum enemies to avoid detection. And you can go gun's blazing and create chaos. It is very similar to the Hitman trilogy Sandbox, and yet very different too. Some aspects could be improved, the graphics are good but in some parts, I can't tell if it's draw distance or lacks landscape details, but something looks plain and dated here, some textures like the **** uniforms and trucks look amazing but some world textures look plain and unpolished. The weapon variety and customization are welcome, but also fails to deliver, as many rifles feel and shoot the same. Despite its shortcomings, Sniper Elite Italy is an amazing experience for me. I would like a plot with more complex, deep characters and some storytelling elements. I guess the plot is an excuse to blow the brains of several **** officers and sabotage their evil plans once again, and that works for me too as the gameplay, ghost mechanics and sniping are awesome fun! There is a unique feel when you leave the area of operations after completing every objective without being noticed, you feel powerful as you ghost the German war machine over and over.
This is a replay-based review. Quantum Break blew my mind when it was released. Loved the storytelling mechanics, the way the science is explained, time travel, it's a mind-blowing sci-fi shooter but heavily grounded on a solid universe. The unique blend of TV show episodes and real-life actors gives you a different perspective of characters and events, as they convey emotions in a way that a cinematic CGI video could never do. They used advanced MOCAP techniques that show detailed expressions of characters as they talk or react to the world around them. There are a lot of games that do the same, but MOCAP here feels unique somehow. I understand why everybody complains about its length. But I feel it's soothing for Quantum Break, making the game longer would impact the player's experience, as the gameplay already becomes repetitive at the end. Even so, I completed it several times to experience the different scenarios that are created as you make choices with Paul that affect the world. I think the whole concept is amazing, Quantum Break is an exciting time travel experience with impressive graphics, fun gameplay mechanics, and it has a world that I find myself coming back to experience now and then. I'm a Max Payne & Alan Wake fan, so this game was a proper successor for Remedy. Many said that The amount of reading and listening can be overwhelming, but that's the beauty of it, you can go through the game and complete it without reading an email. But for gamers like me, they left a TON of breadcrumbs for me to follow and lots of pieces for the puzzle were scattered around the game. I loved putting everything together and understanding more and more about Monarch, the characters, time travel, etc.
What a selfish act to give this masterpiece a bad score just because PlayStation is not working in Kazakhstan. I'm from Argentina, and the PSN service is garbage, I paid 10USD for the Frozen Wilds expansion and could not play it because of some error. Then I realized the Disc version was in a different region than the DLC version, and when I requested a refund, PSN said that since I downloaded the content already, there was no way they could refund the 10USD. What I never considered is to criticize Guerrilla Games or the Horizon product for a Sony PlayStation problem. What you are doing is so selfish, giving a game you haven't played yet a score of 1 just because PSN does not work in your country is a complete disregard for the creator's work!!! You are not even bothering PlayStation with this, only the people who worked to create the game and us who enjoy it. Man, I just can't believe how selfish people are!!! Horizon II is everything I expected and more. Everything is improved upon. What a masterpiece. I just need the new game plus option, so I can experience the story again without the heavy grind for equipment & skills. Took me more than 80+ hours to complete the story with all side quests. Keep in mind that sometimes I would spend a lot of time just taking in the beautiful world and amazing graphics. Even with the cliffhanger of a new threat at the end, I don't think we are going to see the 3rd entry in this IP. When Zero Dawn was revealed, I thought the whole concept **** shooting down dinosaur robots with bow and arrow to be such a dumb concept, I still think that now. But despite that, both Horizon I & II have become one of my favorite games of all time :)
This remake is a masterpiece! Man, I was a teen when I played half-life, It was a new, life-changing experience! Been trying to come back to it a couple of times, but it's impossible for me. Not only for the graphics, but I'm also used to modern standards -even thou revolutionary for 1998- half-life is an unpolished, plane, dated, and boring shooter with almost no gameplay narrative to connect the masterpiece plot. I needed Black Mesa to satisfy this nostalgia. The 1st time I tried the MOD was in 2013 I believe, it was a blast! I remember writing an email to the guys at crowbar collective to thank them for the hard work, I really appreciated their effort. Then I bought the game when it was released on the Steam platform as a stand-alone game around 2017. Man, that was an awesome experience! What a great way to relieve the story that started my deep connection and passion for the games and their lore. But after completing the Lambda Core chapter, when I jumped into the portal instead of taking me into the alien world, I was told that the game was not completed yet. I would have to wait for the final chapter to be released! They did not have the XEN chapters ready yet. OMG, I didn't like that at all, I was frustrated, felt history repeating itself, felt the same way I felt when it was becoming evident that Episode III was never going to be released. A few years went by, and then I saw the Black Mesa definitive edition including the XEN chapters, it was beautiful. You could see the passion, the love, and the hard work these guys put their back into it. I felt the lure, calling me back to complete the story, become the freeman once again and kick the nihilant ass. It was beautiful, I enjoyed it. Man what a Masterpiece. Wish we could see Half-life III someday.
What a masterpiece. I considered myself as a casual gamer until half life one, I was a teen in 1998. That was the 1st time I took interest in a video game story, searched the internet for answers about XEN, black mesa, Gordon freeman and if valve was planning to continue this exciting venture. When Half life 2 was released in 2004, the engine, gameplay mechanics & storytelling was WAY ahead of its time, I must have completed the campaign several times by then. The whole thing was mind-blowing. Then, I became a passionate gamer. If we rate games in the context of when they were released, then we can all agree Half Life 2 is the best game ever. But, if we compare a game released in 2004 with games released almost 20 years later, there is no way to say it is the best game ever. Many modern games took the valve guidelines and created games that surpass HL2 in every way. We all valve lovers must admit to that. I've been a Valve fan since 1998. But there is something that I will never accept from them: their communication style. After the cliffhanger at the end of EPISODE II they got us all hooked asking for more, and they promised more. I understand from what was disclosed that they tried a couple of projects and nothing worked, so they abandoned it. But instead of telling us the truth, they kept us wishing for something that they knew they were not going to release. They even got mad at the gaming press, or they got awkward when asked about EPISODE III. This was like seeing my role model do something ethically wrong. I will never accept the way they chose to manage the situation by simply acting like nothing happened. We are making tons of money with steam, so don't bother us with half life questions.
The Frozen Wilds DLC is great! The expansion introduces something I felt Zero Dawn lacked: some characters will accompany you during specific Quests. Which is totally new since you get used to going on Quests by yourself and only see other characters before or after completing them. In Frozen wilds you get some sort of coop play with other characters & they chat with you over things going on like gameplay narrative-driven games do, like TLOU, Uncharted, etc. I love it! On the downside, we all expected the lore to be expanded in this DLC, but we had to settle with Sylens and his past / motivations. It is not like the Frozen Wilds storyline does not add anything to the main story, It's nice to know more about the Banuk and Sylens, but I guess I was hoping for more. I really liked the snowy setting! sometimes, I will just pan the camera and appreciate the amount of details and love they put into this expansion. The new enemy types add some challenge to the game, they are really tough to take down.
I had such a blast completing Aloy Journey in Horizon! I'm so glad I dismissed the game back in the day even thou critics loved it, the whole concept of a futuristic set with a girl fighting robots with a bow felt so dumb to me. Just watching those trailers made me laugh at the concept. And now with all the hype into the forbidden west launch, I figured I could give it a shot.... and it was an awesome adventure! 60FPS is a MUST for me, I can't play at 30FPS since all my life played computer games, 60FPS feels natural for me, so every time I play a console game at 30FPS feels dated and awkward. So, glad I played the game now that has a 60FPS patch for PS5. Looks so fluid. Conclusion: Amazing characters & the game lore is fascinating! Gameplay is fun, but again I can't get pass at a girl shooting arrows at giant robots... but I guess someday I will come to terms with that part. Why can't she dig a futuristic version of a Stinger or Javelin and take those robots down with proper technology like she uses the focus? Maybe an assault rifle to take down the cultist? Nah, everything has to be done with a Bow, technology can be used in the game, just not for gameplay.
Beyond is an emotional journey. I remember playing the game on PS3 almost 10 years ago, was really young could not connect to the game concepts, I even remember using Aiden to mess around with people, got them real scared just for the fun of it. Since I recently experienced Detroit become human on PS5, felt like replaying another quantic dream classic, so I got the PS4 version of Beyond. Not a remastered version, but it has son graphics upgrades that help avoid make the game feel too old. Too bad they could not get it to run at 1080p 60FPS on PS4. The experience was great! A solid 10 for me. There are a few things that felt off: in Detroit every combat interaction prompt that you don't get right will lead the scene into a different direction, but in Beyond it's just for the fun of pressing buttons while you watch the cutscenes. There are no consequences for not getting it right, the scene will flow in the same direction regardless of what you do. Also, the game makes you feel as if every choice you make has an impact, showing you a chart with the decisions you made. But It's for nothing, the story is linear and there is no way for you to change the course of events, so it's all show for nothing. The only thing you can do is choose between life or death at the end. Regardless, the experience was unique for me, so it's still a solid 10. Quantic dream raised the bar capturing emotions with Mocap and making you feel the characters emotions. Ellen Page and Willem Dafoe have raised the bar regarding what an actor can do to perform the characters in a way that feel human and authentic in a video game.
Insomniac done it again! Miles is such a great kid, always positive and committed to helping others. He is a lot like peter in that way. But they created an authentic character with his own thing. I really liked that he started as "spider-kid" seen by the people as a knockoff or a junior Spider-Man, sometimes they doubt him, but he really doesn't care about that, he just wants to help people. The story was amazing, kinda short but action-packed and with quality side quests. Everything's improved upon the 1st entry. Graphics, effects, the sound, gameplay mechanics are quite complex now, etc. But given its short 15-hour campaign, it's a LOT shorter than the original. For me that was a good thing, I recently finished the spider-man remastered with all DLC and that was a LOT of gaming hours. If Miles Morales was as long as the original, the experience would feel dragged out for me.
Days Gone is amazing! 1st play through on ps4 was ok back in the day, I mean it was a great experience, the gameplay mechanics & the story were great for me. But the game struggled to keep 30fps! It was not a smooth experience, loading times were so long and frequent, and there were A LOT of bugs and game stopping errors. I just had a 2nd play through on PS5 at 60FPS upscaled 4k looks & feels amazing now! Loading times were drastically reduced, there are still some bugs in the last version but its ok they removed the big ones. Even thou on PS5 the game is technically improved, there are still problems with the game itself. The pacing becomes an issue, enemy AI would behave erratically, and the overall game structure has some problems too. I really enjoyed the experience, put in tons of hours in both PS4 & PS5 walkthroughs. I could give the game a 10 because of how much I enjoyed it. But given the problems it has, I have to go with a solid 8
This is a campaign review for CrossfireX. I'm a Remedy fan! I love everything they create. So Im conflicted about being hard on them, I guess thats why I went in with a rating of 6 instead of 1. This is the first time they let me down. The dual campaigns & the story had potential, they are just too poorly executed, everything else feels dated and generic. Here are some things I did like> *Killer remedy Lore! There are bits and pieces scattered across the generic shooting that tease you that a Remedy mind-blowing story is there... too bad it never arrives *Weapons feel generic, but some like CAR4 look & feel ok I guess *Fully customizable controls, which is rare in console gaming. *Select to show objetive, just like modern warfare. *The graphics feel outdated, but sometimes they nail the ambience right with volumetric smoke & lights, shadows, they got you to feel some places. Again some, most feel like generic. *In game radio chatter & character narration is the best feature of this game, kept me engaged in what was going on. In fact, without the in game dialogue & radio chatter, I don't think I could have completed the game with the generic shooting galleries it presents. Things that killed the game> *Footsteps! when you walk slow you hear your footsteps as you were running, this stuff makes the game feel like it's releasing like 20 years ago. *No melee animation? Killing enemies with your knife feels so awkward, it's like playing the 1st version of counter strike, that was a throwback... in a bad way. *Hit confirmation markers! How can you not give me an option to disable that? Hit confirmations kill the immersion and the shooting atmosphere, it is like they want me to feel it's a shooting gallery. *cannot disable HUD elements! There are some like the ability to slow down time that are in the middle of the screen and ruins the experience. *A LOT of texture popping! Even enemies at a distance, you ADS with optics and enemies pop up when there were no one, textures pop up all the time too :/ *Brain dead Enemy Ai. During my play of crossfire X I had to go into and play FEAR (2005) to make sure It wasn't nostalgia, and It wasn't. The Enemy AI in FEAR makes the enemies in crossfire feel like dumb bots with basic instructions. I can't believe a 2022 game has this brain-dead AI, It totally kills the experience. You have to play the game in veteran to get a real challenge but nothing changes really, it's not like they start flaking you or coordinating an attack. They just march into their deaths, but they are more dangerous now, 2 shoots can kill you, thats it. *Shooting feels plane, Must be that playing the latest COD installments I got used to such a fine shooting experience that crossfire X shooting feels plane and boring. And finally... I was so hyped with the reveal trailer, the story, the lore, the shooting, It all looked so damn good. After Quantum Break & Control, I was ready for another Remedy masterpiece. After completing the game and left with disappointment, went back to see both reveal & launch trailer and noticed they SCRAPPED a lot of content from the game to get it ready in time for release date. There is a shooting in a collapsing building that never happens in the game.... I don't know ... This is a mess, how can remedy got involved with this?
BEST COD CAMPAIGN EVER! I'm not into online gaming, what I enjoy is a good explosive story like this one. Experienced it on XBX at 4k 60FPS RT is a total blast. What an amazing way to connect with the characters, as you play as each member of the team, you get why they are so unique and what drives them. The gameplay mechanics from MW & CW are implemented here as well, and they are flawless. The only thing that caught my eye is that sometimes the enemy combatant's AI behaves erratically, like they just run into the line of fire like dumb bots, it's not frequent, but it happens. The rest is a masterpiece all the way.
If you don't have a high-end PC, this Remastered Trilogy is going to be a blast for you. But if you already experienced these games on a high-end PC back in the day, this is a downgrade for sure. Since I wanted to replay this trilogy, I saw a lot of comparison videos on YouTube, and since they all highlight the new, more modern graphics features, I figured maybe will give it a shot on my ps5. Some textures were upgraded, new reflections, screen space shadows, there are a few upgrades, but the overall result is negative, this is like a downgrade of the original PC game. Crysis 2 has a brutal difference between the original & remasteded, being the original so much superior. After buying this remastered trilogy for Ps5, I went back to STEAM and downloaded the 2011 PC version of crysis 2 & 3 and had a total blast replaying those on my PC. the immersion and overall "feel" of the game is so superior on the original versions. So my conclusion is that this Remastered Trilogy is good only for newcomers and console only players. If you have a high-end PC, you definitely want to stick to the original versions of these games.
This package is a blast! When I got my Ps5, the 1st step was to replay the Ps4 classics. Since all of them were getting free next gen upgrades that unlock 60fps and use the awesome new controller features. When I got to Uncharted 4 & Lost Legacy, quickly realized that they were not enhanced at all, spent all 2021 searching for news about why Naughty Dog was not releasing the patch like all the other Ps4 Classics. But they were not talking about that. Then, when I saw the Legacy of thieves trailer, I understood what was going on. Sony gave us tons of free upgrades, but this one they were not set on giving it up for free. And that's ok with me, waited until the January 28 release date, inserted my Ps4 disc and paid the $10 Usd upgrade fee. I totally get why everyone is so mad at this. Thing is, Uncharted 4 is one of my favorite gaming experiences of all time, and $10 usd is not that big of a deal for me. I had tons of fun replaying this package, the implementation of the haptic feedback & adaptive triggers is beautiful, allowed me to experience this blast in a more immersive way since this new features let you "feel" the game somehow. I don't think it's unfair for Sony to ask for $10 upgrade, since they gave us a lot of these upgrades for free. But again, I get why some are mad at sony for this.
I'm not a Spider-man Fan! Enjoyed the movies but never played one of the games, that's why I got a lot of PS4 AAA exclusives and missed this game. Now with a Ps5 got the Miles Morales ultimate edition with the console, and that game is bundled with a digital free Spider-Man remastered. What a Masterpiece! Had such a blast playing this game, I'm glad I didn't play the original in 2018, this is the way to go with 4k 60FPS & RT the game looks and plays amazing! After completing the story, had such a good time playing the DLC content included in the remastered package, this game is just an absolute blast to play! Now that I'm done with the game and all the extra content, I'm starting to become a Spider-man fan too:)
The original was a masterpiece! A proper blend of my favorite Stephen kings horror story atmosphere & the amazing remedy gameplay & storytelling craft. What a blast I had playing Alan Wake on PC. I think this classic deserved a proper remake! but this remaster is good enough for me. I'm from Argentina, I could have bought the game on steam or xbox series store for a really cheap price on holidays sale in pesos. But I paid 10 times the price to get the PS4 disc version, so I could get the PS5 digital version upgrade for free (buying it from the PS store is too expensive in Argentina). Thing is, for me, it's worth paying the difference. 4k 60FPS looks & plays astounding, could not detect frame drops on the PS5, and the adaptive triggers and the haptic feedback are the game changers for me. Firing that revolver feel more powerful than ever on the PS5 joystick, I remember one of the manuscript pages says something about wake's arm feeling the intense discharge of the revolver and I felt that too. Also, you can feel the dark presence coming by the way the joystick vibrates, It's something you just can't put into words but feels amazing. Having ALL platforms, the PS5 is the best one ever for this remastered experience. Too bad the problem with the cutscenes, it's not that they are 30FPS (sometimes they feel like 10FPS) but sometimes the voices would not play, and I would have to restart the console to get it working again, there are problems all right, but none of them took me away from enjoying it. Alan Wake was a masterpiece, and this remasters help me enjoy this classic in a more modern way. PS: Read a lot of USER REVIEWS on this, seems like the only ones who can enjoy this game are the ones who already like the original, for newcomers the gameplay is dull, the updated graphics do not look so good, and the dialogue (the best part for me) is boring for some. I think that not everyone can appreciate a 2010 masterpiece in 2021.
AWESOME CAMPAIGN! this is the way we are meant to play HALO! the game structure & gameplay mechanics are at a whole new level. Loved every step of the way! runs amazing at 60fps on performance mode checkerboarded to 4k looks and plays like a charm on xbox series S. It is true that some exteriors like variety, and performance could be optimized better for launch date but with the trailers I was really worried about how this game was going to come out and finally.... 343 nailed it! It feels more powerful than ever playing as the master chief one last time :) PD: Im seeing a LOT of negative reviews of people that clearly did not play the game and hate halo/microsoft/xbox so much that you can tell they want the game to perform bad on critics / reception. Why?
Yeah I really considered it a LOT before giving Guardians a solid 10, because it has a lot of flaws, like the master chief - locke fist fight... Thing is I loved the direction 343 took with Halo 4, after the trilogy ended I never imagined myself to be so invested in HALO LORE once again, and after completing Guardians I feel I want MORE! the game graphics are awesome and gameplay is the best the series has given me, with proper ADS, sprint, and modern mechanics I was able to enjoy the experience to the max. As I said before the game is not perfect, the story takes some turns that I do not like but I had such a blast playing the campaign over and over, it got me watching youtube videos about the game LORE for months. And now that Infinite is out, I gave Guardians one more run and had a total blast! thats why its a solid 10 for me :)
343 achieved a masterpiece! after the trilogy closed the human covenant wars chapter, exploring halo lore into forerunner universe was amazing! I agree with those who claim that prometheans are not as fun as the covenant to fight, they are right! some parts of the execution could have been done better! but the experience is amazing! loved the story! got sad as cortana got worse. Amazing new mechanics as being able to sprint and ADS, finally! Played the game on xbox 360 back in the day, and replay now on xbox series at 4k as part of the masterchief collection. Man what a masterpiece!
COMPLETE OVERHAUL OVER THE 2002 MASTERPIECE! yes the city is empty. Yes it has some bugs, there is no side missions or extra content but thats what I love about this remake, you see we have tons of open world games with lots to do and explore. I wanted the nostalgia trip, when this game came out I was a teen, games did not look very real back then, but mafia was different, made you feel something new, I remember asking my dad about the mob and the violence that was perpetrated in those times, I was shocked, really hook up me. This remake allows you te experience a unique story with TONS of improvements!! Hangar 13 really delivered a bluepoint class of remake. Seen a lot of negative reviews about the bugs and the empty world. I dont get it they want a cult classic to be reborn into another open world game formula.
ABSOLUTE MASTERPIECE!! I was a teen when the God of war trilogy launch on playstation and I loved every minute that spent playing those games back in the day. But now I feel my preferences for games evolved and those type of hack and slash games are no more fun for me anymore. I was not sure about this new god of war, when I tried to play it on ps4 an error would not let me play. Now that I got a PS5 and heard about the upgrade that allows you to play at 4k 60FPS went back, gave it a try and had the most amazing gaming experience ever. Joel & Ellie gained a placed at my heart that I assumed no other game could replace, but atreos & kratos grow so deep into me that its hard for me to tell anymore. One thing is for sure, this is the most amazing game ever!!!
