This is one of the most immersing game experiences I've ever had. I actually felt as if I had become Joel, trekking through this deadly, near hopeless world, struggling to survive for just one more day. On occasion, this level of immersion is broken, but for the most part, I truly felt like I had stepped into the shoes of the protagonist. His emotions became mine- the frustration, the elation, the horror, the desperation... and the slow, creeping pall of hopelessness in this dark, damaged earth. If you are prone to night terrors or depression, do NOT play this game, because it will alternately terrify you and make you despair for the plight of this lost world. However, if you can handle the mature subjects of the tale, you are in for a real treat, and perhaps the greatest game to ever be produced in the genre of survival horror. Yes, this game is scary, to a level I haven’t felt since the original Silent Hill on PS1. I generally felt powerless in this world and some of the enemies (primarily Clickers and Runners) make my stomach tighten with dread. If you're super hardcore, and you want a REALLY scary experience, I recommend you play on Hard difficulty for your first play-through, because the number of supplies (ammo, med kits, shivs, bombs, etc.) that are available on the Normal difficulty level are far too abundant for players who want a supreme challenge. On the subject of crafting, this is a component of the game that is easy to learn, and fun to engage in. It further puts you into the mindset of Joel, a man desperate for survival, who has learned to salvage at all available opportunities. Slowly tuning up my weapons was also a lot of fun, though Joel is but a pale imitator compared to his rival protagonists (Nathan Drake, Marcus Fenix, etc.) in other games (but this is a good thing, for it feels realistic, and fits with the tone of the piece). Joel's wobbly aim, perpetual shortage of ammo, and rather sluggish speed make him feel like a real, middle-aged guy who has learned to survive in a dangerous world, not some superhuman who handles everything with grace. The stealth aspect is also handled brilliantly, and engaging in it is extremely satisfying. This stealth system is a perfect evolution of that which was established in the Metal Gear Solid series (particularly #2), utilizing a great visual cone and audio circumference for your enemies, which must be studied for vulnerabilities and exploited at every possible opportunity. Determining how to approach each new challenge (lots of trial and error will be involved), and how to successfully clear an area of enemies (generally without being detected, as ammo and health are so limited) is really fun. These challenges become "3D puzzles" in a way, as you must use your noggin to break down enemy patterns and AI reactions, with the added tension of knowing that it only takes one slip-up to result in failure - and these enemies really do make you feel the fear. Visually speaking, this game is remarkable, even by next gen standards. The improved graphics of the Remastered edition are immediately apparent to those who of us who played The Last of Us on PS3. Resolutions are incredibly detailed, but even more effective is the silky smooth frame rate. The attention to detail is simply staggering, and it all comes together to further enhance the emotional impact of this unforgettable experience. Gameplay is always more important than graphics in my book, but it certainly helps convey the emotions of the characters when everything looks this darned good. The Last of Us is like nothing else. It is, quite frankly, an exhausting experience, one that left my mind reeling with the consequences of my fascinating journey, and the unbreakable bonds I had formed with Ellie and Joel - two fictitious characters who seem unshakably real. I just can’t forget about them, and I can’t forget about what we’ve been through together. It’s not just their story, it’s OUR story. We are family, struggling to survive in a dangerous world. We are the last of us.

inFamous: Second Son

I really don't understand the rave reviews this game has gotten. Is it merely for being a launch title? Having the inFamous label? Its graphics? The previous inFamous games were superb and I think there was a good reason inFamouns is in tiny letters and Second Son overtakes the label. As though they felt bad even calling it inFamous. I think this was supposed to appeal to dudebros who just bought a PS4 and only play "certain types" of games. For the well rounded gamer, this is poison. I went in with high hopes and was constantly insulted... as a person. I don't like to be around characters like Delsin in real life, why would I want to play one in a game? If you couldn't guess, my main complaint about this game would be the characters. They aren't likable at all, none of them. Your main character Delsin is kind of an angry arrogant teenager in a 25 year old's body who thinks he's Banksy and tries his hardest to be cool but he's just a ****. He's whiny, sad, lonely, abrasive, self absorbed, and incredibly sexist. The writing of his script shows they not only don't care about this character but whoever wrote him must think this giant sack of dung is the coolest person in the world. He forces his brother to constantly go against his own principles and do wrong by questioning his manliness and his devotion to family. The female protagonist is super cliche and basically her only focus is blaming her drug problems on pushers and killing them off. She's petty, small minded, easy, and I guess embodies a drug addict but still not a character I want in this game. I kept playing, even with how much I hated all the characters. The worst part is everyone is calling you on your phone all the time to complain at you and you just get whiny at them and the ringtone is just horribly annoying. The city design is terrible. Everything looks the same, there's no compass direction on the map indicator, the layout making getting around over complicated, the "fast travel" stations only work when you go to one so they're halfway useless, and the change of day doesn't change the city. I kept playing even though the game was clunky. The city was just a low point and it made me miss the amazing open world designs in pretty much every other game like this. There are still bugs after patching. Some of the missions don't trigger so you have to restart them several times. Sometimes double the enemies spawn. Randomly guys will be much more active about shooting you so sometimes it's super easy and other times you get shot to death in a couple seconds. There is a glitch where spray painting makes people stop shooting you as well. So when did I stop playing? How about the tedious and terribly designed boss battles and fighting system. How about the niche overuse of new PS4 control methods? That's what usually hurts a game. When you just can't enjoy playing it after you remove everything else. The melee is basic and the most powerful but it's so badly done. Shooting powers give almost no damage and headshots take ridiculous accuracy, which your character doesn't have. You can take 20 shots and easily miss a guy you have your reticle right on. Your character goes down fast so you have to hit, shoot, hide, wait, hit, hide, shoot, hide, and repeat that for the entire game. You don't ever feel powerful. Worst of all your super ability takes about 15 seconds to watch and isn't skipable. It keeps me from even wanting to use it. There's also the quirky things they tried to do but just became obnoxious. The touchpad is used for several things and it just seems stupid like Sony demanded they use it. The spray painting is just pathetic and the mechanics for that are clunky as well. The sound coming out of the controller becomes annoying. The phone ringing, absorbing things, just any loud high pitched annoying sound they could throw through that thing at way too high of a volume, they did. So why would you like or play this game? I don't know, maybe you're capable of overlooking all of the terrible qualities on your wasted money. The story is not even redeemable, it's a rip-off of X-Men. If you look at the competent well done reviews by the more reputable people around gaming, you find mixed or negative feelings toward this game. It's just bad and I only enjoyed the first 20 minutes, until you start getting powers and become a needy child wanting more and more. Because all you care about is more powers so you can be cool and tough. Bad story, gameplay, mechanics, design, and characters make it one of the all time worst games I've played. I just hope they remaster the first two inFamous games for PS4 so I

Sadly, I knew from the opening sequence that this game wasn't going to be very good. I had high expectations that were not only not met but actually dashed to bits. In a nutshell, this game stinks. First is the environment. Forget the lush visuals of the trailers and promos. at least 80% of the game will be spent in dark rooms, hallways, corridors, outer space, spacecraft, vent shafts and other drab environments. Second, the navigation stinks. The navigation and objective markers are very confusing at times. And that's only when the directional objective marker actually feels like appearing (there were several times I tried to invoke it, only to get a text display of my objective and nothing more). It can be more confusing than helpful at times, especially when it rotates 360 degrees, like when you're in outer space, zero gravity or on a multi-level structure. And some of the mission objectives are just downright confusing. You'll get a vague hint like "assist so and so" but it doesn't tell you that this assistance involves several steps that aren't very intuitive. The weapons for the most part are decent but there are major shortcomings. For instance, the game loves to put you in rooms full of ammunition and weapons like you're in a candy store but you can only carry a ridiculously small supply. You get one primary weapon, one secondary and a max capacity refill of reach. There are two types of grenades but you can only carry one type at a time. When you're looking at a weapon on the ground, you can see the specs for it but the lame comparison leaves a lot to be desired. Instead of orange and green bars to indicate more or less power, just do a side by side. The worst glitch with the weapons is that some of them will simply refuse stop working and refuse to fire. There is no explanation, no little text message to say "too close to target" an indication that the weapon is empty or anything. Nope, you just sit there pressing R2 like a maniac while getting riddled by the enemy. As if ridiculous cheapness were';t enough, the AI enemies even do little victory dances over your body and take cell phone pics of their kill. So after the game fails on you, it celebrates its failure in tacky fashion. There are adrenaline packs that you can use during battle. They will restore your health and also give you a temporary slowed down Matrix style "bullet time" boost. It's helpful when facing a few enemies but pretty much useless when needed most, against scores of enemies as you'll encounter in the latter stages of the game. Like the weapons, they also seem to disappear without warning when you need them most. I'll start a new section with a full supply of adrenaline packs but somehow go down and see the message "no adrenaline packs available". The tactical echo and O.W.L. were the only two things that really stood out about the game and even they had their faults. They are usually excellent tools in your arsenal, especially for helping deal with the darker environments. The tactical echo acts almost like a heat sensor, displaying enemy silhouettes through walls, doors or floors. The O.W.L. is your personal drone that is capable of providing a shield, attacking enemies, disabling enemy shields and hacking computer systems which accomplishes numerous objectives like disabling alarms, opening doors, navigating ships, disabling security systems, etc. Unfortunately, when you use the most useful features like shield and pulse, it quickly drains the O.W.L. and it will end up off in a corner recharging when you really need it. Also, as far as engagement, although it occasionally kills enemies, (more in the beginning than latter stages), by the last few chapters of the game, it amounts to little more than a distraction and hacking device. 99% of the enemies will need to be dispatched by you. All in all, I played the game only because I paid for it. I can wholeheartedly say if this were offered free as a PS-Plus game of the month or some other deal, I likely would have deleted it by now. I would not buy the game again if given the chance all over again, but everyone has different tastes. My advice is to watch a couple play through videos online just to get a grasp of the environment you'll actually be playing in versus the much prettier environments shown in the ads. Might not hurt to rent it first as well, if you're able to do so. Otherwise, grab it in a bargain bin as cheap as possible or wait to see if Sony offers it as a free PS plus game (highly likely in the near future) if you simply must have it. However, if frequently getting lost in dark environments with malfunctioning weapons and vague directives while having enemies twerk over your body and take cell phone pics after a ridiculously cheap kill seems like fun, then dive on in. This is the game for you!

When the game launched I would have given it a higher rating. Years later I have replayed through it on a new Gamertag and I still really enjoy it. It is a refreshing twist and reminded me of Bully. Not exactly and open world adventure game but an Open Hogwarts Adventure game. Lot of collectibles and side quests with some that are fun and other that are annoying. Sill a very fun game with a lot of unique game mechanics. My favorite Harry Potter Game that does not have Lego in the Title.

This was a very refreshing change for the Franchise and was amazing on the previous Generation of Console. But this game looks amazing on current Generation of Consoles. Controls are just as crisp gameplay and story are excellent. This would have sold more if they had lowered the price a tad or done a discount to those who already owned the 360 version. The only complaint with the game on the One is all the glitches that cause issues with achievements. These were not present in the 360 version and months later still have not been fixed. Requiring you to replay the game or delete your save and start all over again to get the achievements.

Initially I was not going to buy this game. The game looked cool in all the press released info but it just seemed like Jet Grind radio mixed with Crackdown. Not as if that is a bad thing but just did not excite me to want to purchase the game. They even had a Free play the game week-end in which you could get achievements and I still did not play it. Fast Forward to my sons birthday and for some strange reason that was the game he wanted. So I bought it for him and I ended up playing it more than he does. The game is just like a blend of Jet Grind Radio and Crackdown which like I said previously is not a bad thing. I still have some issues with not loving the game just liking it. As per usual the Season Pass has let me down and was not worth the price with what you get. I would not have paid retail but for $29.99 for the Day One Edition on Sale was a good Deal.

Amazing Launch Title that is an absolute Visual Orgasm for any Console. The story is amazing and the controls are spot on. The only problem is how repetitive the combat can get but that is par for the game type and should not be a knock on the game itself because it pulls combat off flawlessly. If there were possibly be more animations and finishing moves it might make it slightly better but still a solid launch title. The Season Pass was well worth it playing online was a nice pace of change and helped me get better at playing the game and the timing nuances to get Perfect Combos. I wish the Campaign had been Co-Op and more Animations and Executions would have given this game a more balanced feel. The saddest thing was the fact that even with the games shortcomings I loved it and was waiting for the sequel that now unfortunately will never happen due to Crytek and all the companies inner turmoils.

This game one one on my radar from the first screenshots over a year ago.Developed from the same team who developed Dead Island. This game feels very much like an expanded version of the same. Even with all Dead Islands flaws I still loved it. The same goes for this game. I really liked the pace of the game but after awhile once you have upgraded your skills you become a tank and the game feels like your have the Cheats turned on. After beating the game it unlocks a New Game + which even with your Tank Character is not impossible but more of a challenge. There are 52 Side Missions some are Awesome some are not Noteworthy at all. While some are needed to continue the story most are not, and some lead to cooler stuff, weapons, or items. Again the Season Pass so far as of 2-27-2015 is a bust and the first DLC release was just 2 Quarantine Zones which took about 8 minutes each to complete. The game has some issues when playing with others. A lot of the bugs come from the fact it registers you as doing said mission if you join a friends game and he completes it with you. But from an achievement stand point does not give you credit. This requires you to remember which mission restart either a new game or New Game + to redo those missions to get credit. All Side Missions and All Collectibles seem to be buggy in general. As stated above you must replay to get credit for side missions you may have done in Co-Op. Collectibles can more easily be fixed by just starting a new game and collecting already collected items to get % increase toward achievement. I had 67/67 collectibles and only 88% toward achievement. After I beat game started New Game at Last Checkpoint and just grabbed items next to Quartermaster at Tower to increase % toward achievement. Just rinsed and repeated. If you also have to much in Private Stash and on Personal Backpack it might delete your inventory either completely or just certain items. So on those missions your items are taken from you do not restore your items. go back into Private Stash and select each Item you want to get back to avoid this issue.

This game is an absolute joy to play with friends who are both hardcore and casual gamers. It blends great gameplay with balanced levels and characters. It makes players play as a team and rewards those teams that are diverse in character selection. The only knock on this game was the Micro Transactions which are not needed since you earn Coins by just playing. They have many Community events and gifts if requirements are met as a Community. There are plenty of Game Modes and they are constantly adding more Game Types and Maps along with Characters and New Packs of Cards to purchase. One Year after release of the game the Developers are still very active with promoting the game.

I really love this game. I have played it for well over 200+ Hours into the game. In many reviews I have heard complaints the world is too big, I think it could have been even bigger. The frame rate sometimes slows down especially at the later parts of the game when there are more zombies shambling around but that is minor and few and far between. I loved playing this game Co-Op and I think that is where the game shines. It is an absolute joy playing this with friends. Even my son enjoyed playing with me online. I only have a few complaints. I bought the Season Pass from the start and even though the DLC was enjoyable and lent to further explaining the events it was not Co-Op and it was very glitchy with regards to achievements. There was also another DLC that added a really fun 4 player Co-Op Competition which I enjoyed but alas was way too short and not enough missions to play. The integration of the IR sensor , the Kinect, and Smart Glass was flawless on this game and a glimpse as to what can really be done. Smartglass missions while sometimes reminded me of Animal Crossing side missions lent some depth to the story if you followed them unto the end. Sadly no other games have really followed suite and with the sale of Kinect-less consoles I fear this integration that was so revolutionary will be lost.

I own all the Skylanders Games and I also own every Skylander. So needless to say I love this game. It is a game that harkens back to old school gaming. When me and my friends would sit around and play Nintendo for hours just having Fun. This game is not for everyone I will add because even though you can play and have fun with just the starter pack. This game was made to require more than just the starter pack to do everything or go everywhere in the game both Figure wise and Trap Wise. That being said if you Owned a Trap Master of Each Element and a Trap of Each Element , and the 2 Adventure packs then you could get everything out of the game. The best in the series though by far.

I was very excited for this game to come out. I have been waiting a very long time for someone to make a Survival Horror game that could recapture that feeling I had playing Resident Evil so many years ago. This game met all my expectations in that department at least. The game look amazing and I love the puzzle aspect and stealth aspect. This is not a Run & Gun game. Nor is it a Stealth game you could just Run & Gun your way through. My Only real complaint with this game was the length of the Story and the Season Pass. $29.99 for the season pass which only gives you challenge levels with not much in the way of story content. To top that off no more Achievements were attached to even warrant a purchase. I bought the Season Pass as Part of The Ultimate Game Sale for $12.99 and still feel cheated for having done so. This is a game Worth Playing by anyone who loves Video Games in general.

I really like this game. The controls are absolutely spot on and the game play is fast paced and balanced. There is alot of negative knocks on this game but the only thing that brought it down for me was lack of maps and a single player campaign. I love Respawn and Call of Duty 4 was my favorite Shooter both online and Campaign. So I had high hopes when they left and start Respawn. This would be a 10 if it had more maps and a single player story mode.
