There is a game breaking bug on PS4, and other platforms, where the last mission will not trigger assignment. You can Google it, many people have experienced it. I did. So the 22 hours I spent on the game, including the 6 or so hours I spent trying to get the last mission to trigger were for nothing. It is now 3 years after launch. It's safe to say it's not getting fixed. It ruined the whole game for me. It's not bad if you ignore the completely broken main quest. Otherwise the game lacked any kind of pacing or cinematic quality. Gameplay fundamentals were good but main weapons and abilities were locked behind vaults spread out over the entire massive map. So by the time you get everything you want, it's about time for the game to be over. Which is another way to say you spend most of the game without the coolest stuff. A next gen patch and a bug overhaul would go a long way for this game.

As someone who has finished all the borderlands games with almost all the available characters, I can say that this is just another Borderlands game. That's not a bad thing. It has some improvements in many areas, but fundamentally it's the same borderlands. Feels the exact same. People have panned the story and humor of this game a lot but **** series has always had second rate story and humor. It's still fun though. The humor has always been dumb on purpose, the jokes often didn't land, it's always been silly and endearing at best except for a few good lines. The story has always been wacky and ridiculous with a vague drive to find vaults except for a few solid moments. I'll update this later but the first few hours feel the exact same. Just a fun silly stupid shooting gallery. Easy $20 buy.

Real quick, if you're expecting a smooth frame rate or a game that runs nicely, stay away. I bought this game on sale for like 3$ or so. It's mildly amusing but it really seems like wasted potential. Seems like an optimization issue. Seems like the code and the engine needed more time. People probably worked hard on these assets and the game in general but it's like the engine is barely holding things together. Oddly enough if you walk instead of run the frame rate is obnoxiously low. I think running causes some kind of down-rez to make loading the assets easier. You can actually stay in "run mode" the entire time, which feels weird but at least the frame rate is a little better that way, albeit still poor. Gameplay could definitely be better. with magic as the central focus you could definitely do more enemy manipulation. For example imagine the force powers from Star Wars. If your game is just magic I want to be able to pick enemies up and throw them a little. Little enemies could go flying while medium enemies might just get tossed a little. Maybe giant enemies could at least be tripped by this so you could get some critical hits. I'm talking about what COULD be because there's not really much else to say about this game. It's a solid 6/10. That's a "D", barely passing, and not passing at all in some circles. I don't regret my $3 purchase but anyone who bought this for $20 or more likely felt robbed. If your frame rate is trash, delay your game until it's not trash. Maybe have frame rate in mind from the very start of the project so you don't have to worry about fixing a dumpster fire later?

6 is giving it the benefit of the doubt. Easily the most boring opening hour and a half of any game I've played. Combat feels clunky. Seems auto-mode focused. Seems a little too easy. Maybe this game would be good for very young people like around 10-13. Voice acting is decent. Script is generally poor although conceptually decent. I tried so hard to play this game for more than an hour and a half but I literally could not. Might be good as a first video game for a young person.

Very solid for many hours. Free to Play. Does not force you to spend money. The game has come a long way. Sure if you play the game for 100+ hours you will run out of things to do, but that describes almost every game. There is always new stuff to unlock every month. Changing weapons makes the gameplay so different that it's like it becomes a different game. I put a lot of time into the sword at first, but when i switched to repeaters it was a completely different experience. I could almost hold down the shoot button and focus solely on movement, power ups, and strategy. The game has a lot to offer and doesn't even ask for your money to play the base game. That is more than fair. After maybe 20 hours I felt like the game deserved some money so I started buying the optional battle-passes and things like that. I never felt ripped off. Even the battle pass is only like $10.

Some of the devs obviously worked hard on this game and I appreciate the work they did. I just didn't enjoy this game. It's hard to explain why. There were maybe 3 super crazy Michael Bay/COD moments that were over the top and novel enough to be truly enjoyable. They were the highlights of the game. I don't really know why I felt it was bland, I just did. I would've liked a more thoughtful and fleshed out story. I would've liked a better enemy concept. I would've liked more immersive camera work like in Farcry. The sound, controls, voice acting, shooting mechanics, mech dynamics were all fine and polished. It took me a long time to bring myself to finish it. I just couldn't get into it. idk.

A serious warning here to gamers in 2018. This game is virtually unplayable because of how bad the screen tearing is. By far the worst screen tearing of any game on the ps4 period. I have no idea how this wasn't patched. Did they run out of money? It means a lot for me to say this because I bought it at an extremely steep discount since it's older, which means I would normally be extremely forgiving. Seriously though, avoid this game like the plague on PS4.

If you love multiplayer, this review is not for you. I play these games for the single player campaign. This one was short and divided into several small stories. The stories are told very well and the game also feels very good to play, minus the stiff running which feels like sliding. However, there wasn't enough time to get invested in any character too much or really feel like it was you in the thick of it at all. Also the time to die under fire can sometimes be a little short, requiring you to only play the game a certain way instead of fighting however you want. This is more realistic but less enjoyable for me personally. I enjoyed the cutscenes more than the shooting sometimes, and for a fps game, that's not ideal. I would give it a 6 but some of the stories are epic and memorable, even if I didn't feel connected to the characters as I was playing them. If you're like me and mostly play these for single player, you might want to get this game at a hefty discount.

Ps4 pro patch makes it look good. Some parts are hard but not too hard. Pro tip: hit up the gun dispensor often to force the game to save. You lose less progress when you die that way. The user score as of writing this is 7.7 so this review is really not needed. I just want to do it. I like this game a lot. I would recommend it if you can get it for $15-$20 dollars and if it looks good when you watch gameplay. I like it a lot, not because it's highly polished, because it isn't, not because the combat is phenomenal, because it isn't, not because the story is riveting, because it isn't, but really because it's just a simple game with a lot of charm and some really good voice acting. The gameplay is good, it's not amazing, but it's good, which is why i recommend buying it for $15-20. Not ALL the voice acting is good, some is kinda spotty, but the ones that matter are excellent. I'm 26 and into metal and I legit teared up from some of this anime voice acting. Explain that one away lol. I give this game a sonic the hedgehog out of bananas.

Solid 8. I loved it. I read the harsh criticism of playstation lifestyle and it really burned my biscuits because this game is $15. You simply cannot compare a $15 game to a $60 game like no mans sky or anything else. That is apples to oranges They do not exist in the same universe when you consider the cost to make a game, the resources required, the financial outlook **** selling for a mere $15. They would have to sell 4x the amount of a AAA game to make the same amount of money. So its a totally different business plan, a totally different adventure. A $15 game should be 'good' for about 5-7 hours. I know that is completely subjective but when you look at the best games and how they sell and for how much and the content/price ratio, that is the ballpark you come up with. You can't expect the 3DS to do 4k and you can't expect a $15 dollar game to perform AAA. All that aside, this game is like No Mans Sky but without the hype and bs. Imagine NMS is AAA and then imagine that this game is the small studio Indie version. If that sounds amazing then it will be. It was for me. You simply cannot sepperate game expectations from game cost. I mean you can but enjoy being unhappy.

Also I really like the awesome looking graphics as opposed to the modern cartoony or cell shaded approach. $30. This is what online PvP only games should cost.

I quit playing because i was bored out of my mind, i wasn't enjoying it, and it didn't look good. You fly around on these sky rails with a hook gimmick, which is cool for two seconds, before it gets repetitive and boring. Neat is how i would describe the combat. Humor is funny but poorly fleshed out. Characters do not remotely resemble the game cover or art. I would've loved it if they looked ANYTHING like the cover art, which is amazing. Later on i played Dishonored for pc with an xbox controller, and for me it looks like Dishonored greatly accomplished the mood, art style, charisma, and mistique that Bioshock infinite fell short on.

Man...I don't even know how to begin. I love the Warriors series. I've played maybe over 1000 hours in them. Including DW2, DW3, DW4, DW5, SW, SW2, SW4, SW4-2, SW4E, SWC3 and a few "Empires" and "Extreme Legends" mixed in there somewhere. Unfortunately this game is just not as good as the recent SW4 trinity, all of which are incredible and easily the standouts of the Warriors history, harkening back to the quality of the early games like DW3 and DW4. ---I feel like Spirit of Sanada took some big risks in presentation and maybe even game engine, which pay off in the long run with other games, but which leave this game looking like almost a science experiment or a lab rat. The Presentation is bad. I think on PC it must be good because I've seen good images from this game. I'm playing it on PS4 Pro on a 4k tv and it looks bad. So much pixel popping. Almost a frame rate jutter, or perhaps a locked frame rate that's too low. The exact opposite of smooth anything, especially between battles. Many fundamental assets like grass and structures are simply bad looking from a mix of asset resolution, lack of post processing maybe, and abundant aliasing problems. This looks like it would run fine on the Nintendo Switch, but the PS4 is worlds above that kind of thing. The other problem I had was the flow/fun factor. It's like they said "lets use only our existing assets and concepts and formats, and insert into that something to simulate another type of game, but without actually adding any of the gaming elements that those other games require." Another way to say that is there are simply roadblocks in your way from enjoying the fun gaming experience they created long ago and have endlessly refined. They convolute it with these "other game simulations" that don't actually innovate or change the actual game material. Imagine playing God of War but only with Crash Bandicoot and only with his move set. It's would be goofy and stupid. They would have to rework everything and give crash an all new move set, new animations, maybe new engine, maybe new...everything. Well this game is a lot like that only less goofy. I'm sure the story is actually pretty good but I couldn't keep playing long enough to enjoy it. Please avoid this game. Any of the Samurai Warriors 4 games are WAY better and FAR more deserving of your time and money.

Real quick i just wanna throw my two cents in, even on sale for $7 this game ****, psn isn't even letting me rate it, never seen that before. The bikes you unlock are no better than the ones you start with. For instance, i just unlocked a bike with max acceleration, cool right? Well guess what, its way slower than the bike you already own, so...? I bought this on sale for I think $7 and even I feel like I got ripped off. "oh a racing game on ps4 for $7, well thats GOTTA be worth it right?" No, no it is not. I'm gonna have to suffer through another hour of this game so I can get my money's worth, I don't like throwing $7 in the garbage but that's what this game is. The 3 bike switch mechanic is goofy, who the hell ever wanted that in any racing game? The whole idea of racing games in general is that you work with what you got, you overcome obstacles, upgrade your ride, and get better, so alternate terrain should necessitate a player adaptation, like going around, avoiding, boosting, whatever, it should not necessitate you magically changing which bike you're driving. That is honestly stupid and goofy. Also the inability to upgrade/customize your bike is ridiculous. 4/10 well below average but playable for a few hours. Chances are you WILL be upset or disappointed with the game at that point. Game developers learn from this game's meta score.

So I just finished the game and now I'm going back and revising the quick review I had previously made. After 4 hours I thought this game was a gem, a pearl, a treasure. This game is $20 and if you preordered, technically $7 since you got this and the other game for $14. So all criticisms of the games production and scope will be viewed through that lens. So down the gambit: Visuals are good. Voice acting is good but you do have to read some since this is a $20 indie title (not a drawback for me.) Gameplay is really good, simple, and different from what many are accustomed to. Controls are good except it takes a minute to get used to the real time "turn" system which is not actually a turn system. It's hard to explain. Eventually you figure it out and thus adequately blocking becomes possible (not for some reviewers, geesh, crapping on this whole game because they can't block.) The lore is actually REALLY good. You have to think about it. You have to read about it in the menu, which for some reason was enjoyable. My FAVORITE part is the writing. It is highly intelligent and actually had me googling words I've heard maybe once or never in my life. It also had me pondering philosophical concepts in order to properly interpret the foundations of this game's universe, which I love. There is almost a rhythm to the battle system for which "cooldown" to hit and when. The different combatants have different lengths of cooldowns and thus it's a management meta game of how to string together the longest combo to keep your enemy at bay and avoid too much damage. Enjoyment is further added to this when the "turn slots" of this non-turn-system have certain designations where whoever you chose to attack in that slot gets a powered up attack, so you get another level of strategy in this non-RTS-RTS (dont hate lol) and even that is customizable. So that was mostly my thoughts after 4 hours, and after approximately 15 I can't say much has changed. The only complaint I have is that it gets a little repetitive toward the middle, but honestly what game doesn't? Almost every AAA game I've played in the last 5 years has been getting you to repeat the same tasks over and over in different locations and with different context. This game is great, kinda has an arcade feel to it. The story is actually really good. It does what a story should do, and the ending you see coming is not actually the ending you get, which is nice. EXTREMELY solid game.

This is one of those games that I can BARELY recommend but I also have to warn that you WILL experience frustration with the game at some point, possibly a lot. (I actually had to go back and edit this review after playing the game longer and drop the score.) Several annoying issues. By far the biggest problem is the level design, LOTS of going back and forth (like old pc games from when level size was limited), and while the art style is cool, locations within one map often look indistinguishable from others. I would say this game is worth $15 in 2017 and not a penny more, because the enjoyment you get out of the small amount of humor, the slightly interesting story, the fun chaotic gameplay, is unabashedly mixed with **** level design, repetition upon repetition upon repetition, and periodic visual problems like frame rate jutter, or the mountain textures on one of the last levels, like ohhhh myyyy they forgot to put them in lol. You know, the saddest part about this game, other than the huge potential completely wasted, is that I couldn't even finish it, it was already dragging, and after 12 hours (since I like to find the hidden secrets) I could not bring myself to finish the last couple missions even though I knew there would be a cool boss fight. Not worth it. At that point the game had become pure grinding, a chore, a session of doing the same few things over and over and over to unlock doors so you can unlock doors so you can unlock doors so you can kill demons so you can unlock doors so you JUMP OFF A FREAKIN BRIDGE LOL 5/10

What IS there is only okay, there's practically nothing there, a non-game, and there's an ABSOLUTE MAXIMUM of 2 hours play time if you get all the endings, which you have to do by looking it up online, you would never ever guess white ending.----------------------------------------------------------------- More importantly, people compare video games to movies and other mediums, and cost ratios, and say a 2 hour game is okay for $15 or $10 or $7 dollars, because of how other mediums cost, but let me tell you, If you or I went to go see a movie, paid full price, and this game was the movie, there would be a public outcry of people wanting their money back, all review outlets would be 0/10, and people would be issuing public service announcements warning you against this scam of a movie. That is to say there is simply no content here, you have to absolutely **** the content off the floor by zooming in and reading every little memo you see laying around, and i would rate the memo reading portion of this game about 6/10 if you're someone who really enjoys reading memos in video games. *crickets* If I'm going to pay even a movie ticket price to clunk around in a game for merely 2 hours, that better be the most riveting, beautiful, immersive, mind-bending, paradigm ****, butt-smacking 2 hours of my life, or at least that month, because the medium of film is inherently more entertaining than a walking simulator, as it evokes about ten million different techniques to engage the viewer, as opposed to walking around in first person view, listening to a voice over, reading memos, and occasionally having some visual distortion like a fax machine is having a stroke. Also, the story is not explained at all, it's ambiguous, finish your crappy story. I enjoyed one single moment of this game, and that was when you go to turn off the A.I. and it's self preservation kicks in and tries to tell you not to, and that lasted about 4 seconds.

Word of advice, don't give up on this game, it's worth it, do the stupid crypt quest, get past king Meos, and get into the open green area, that is when I truly started enjoying the game, and I almost quit entirely before I got there. I freaking LOVE this game, and there are a ton of reasons why. The combat is awesome if you can get the hang of it, which is more like a jackie chan movie type movement as opposed to like a Dynasty Warriors style where you just swing away and enemies fall. Countering an enemy's attack is made easy by an indicator by their heads showing when you can counter. Visuals are awesome. Think Battleborn or Gigantic but more cartoony. The humor is goof ball, stupid humor, but it's funny and appreciated. There is a kill cam like in Syrim, Fallout 3, and Fallout 4, which is awesome. Your character is a jester and while most of his combat is normal, he does have one part of his combo sometimes where he jumps into the air and slams the enemy in the face with his butt. You add to this a slow motion kill cam and the edge of a cliff, and the result is hilarious satisfying game play. Enemy minions often spawn from outhouses and literally come out of the hole where the poop goes, ya know, like, porta potties from 100 years ago? lol Which is goofy, but then when you repeatedly see the same minions taking a crap into one of those outhouses, into the same hole that you see them pop out of, that was pretty freakin entertaining when I realized that. The game is cheap and amazing. I love it.
