One of the most atmospheric and immersive first person shooters of recent years becomes even better, by enriching its gameplay, normalizing its performance and enhancing its graphics, with the use of the latest 4A engine features. Its main disadvantage is the discontinuation of price discount for those who already own the original Metro 2033 upon official release.

A valuable remake that makes the original Metro feel complete on PC.

At a moment in the gaming industry where we can't seem to get creative story driven FPS survival games, Metro 2033 Redux gave me a breath of fresh air when I played it last year. Ladies and Gentlemen, I'd like to welcome you to one of the greatest FPS survival game series of the better part of 2010s, the Metro series. Metro 2033, having been inspired from the famous book series of Dmitri Gluhovski, had pressure on its shoulders to carry the impact of the books onto the gaming scene. The original first game came out in 2010, and what a great impact it made. As a person who is scared to death of anything related to horror genre, Metro made me play through the game with excitement and curiosity as to what would happen next. Let's talk about Metro 2033's biggest strengths first. The atmosphere and the storyline is the main focus of these games. And it makes sense in that regard, because the game needs to use them both to give an impactful playthrough to the consumer. Metro 2033 does this perfectly, slowly introducing you to the main character, Artyom, as you start discovering what the Metro is about, and the extent of darkness and horror that lies beyond it. The journey of Artyom is handled pretty well I would say, there are definitely some moments in the game that you will not see coming. I felt nervous as I played through some of the levels, where you truly feel the darkness of the Metro in first person, as you await what will happen next. Metro 2033 is a FPS game in its essence though, meaning we get to use weapons. This game gives you both a stealthy and a straight up open conflict style gameplay. You are welcome to choose whatever one you want, but the action is good. Definitely not excellent, because it definitely feels a bit simple and rusty when you play through the game, and the action patterns do start to repeat themselves deeper into the storyline, but it does the job enough for me. The visuals are amazing for the time this game was released at, as the music compliments the tense playstyle. It gives you the shivers at certain moments. I would say it's almost perfect, with minor improvements that could have been made at certain points. Believe it or not, this is also an RPG game, that gives you different endings with what you end up choosing or doing at certain moments of the game. Now, I personally don't really think this game needed an RPG style gameplay, a fixed storyline would have been good enough anyways. But it's out there for people that prefer this. Final words: Metro 2033 Redux is the first game of the Metro Series, and I believe it's a very solid introduction to the franchise. The atmospheric and immersive playstyle it provides is not found in many other games, to this day. The storyline is very original that keeps you at the edge of your seat. A very solid game that you should try out if you are into story driven FPS horror-action games.

Metro 2033's focus on atmosphere and horror does wonders for the game's longevity. Its post-apocalyptic setting that mostly sees you exploring dark, dingy, and barely lit underground metro tunnels is filled to the brim with fantastically realised locations that are very easy to get lost in. From the minimal HUD, the small light indicating how visible you are, to Artyom's breathing that gets more and more desperate as his filter slowly depletes, the game tries (and succeeds) in completely immersing the player in its world. That is until you hear the often awful accents and voice acting, until you shoot your way through the 15th horde of enemies, or until you realise that not only are most of your companions invincible until their scripted deaths but also that they are also there for a pretty big chunk of the overall experience, destroying the tension in the process. While I would still recommend this experience, I have to say that I wish the game was more confident in its world and tone and allowed Artyom to be stuck alone in the tunnels for far longer than he actually is.

cinematic masterpiece with some of the best atmosphere of all time pls try it out its story is great, you often feel isolated and weak but keep fighting for the hope of saving the metro, at the end of the game there are 2 endings for new people ( i wont spoil the endings but this is what you need to know) the bad ending is the canon one, to get the bad ending you need to have less then 50 moral points to get the good ending you need to have more then 50 moral points, to get moral points you need to do good actions like giving money to beggers and rejecting money from families after saving their sons aswell as not killing surrendering enemies etc, i recomend you look up a walkthrough if you wanna get the good ending cause doing 50 good things in a 10 hour game is preety hard

This is the finest available version of an excellent, atmospheric game. It's still not perfect, but the Redux version irons out a significant number of weaknesses, adding some of Last Light's improved mechanics while also providing a welcome layer of visual polish.

Metro 2033 Redux is remaking done right. This isn’t a cash in in any way shape or form. It’s simply a much better version of the original Metro. It’s a perfect purchase for either newbies who haven’t experienced the first game, or vets who want to experience the game again in a brand new light.

My biggest gaming surprise of the recent years. I didn't expect to like the game at all but I gave it a try since I got it in a bundle with other game I wanted. After following the recommendations I Played on highest difficulty stalker (a bit too hard for me, would rather play lower difficulty but still stalker mode).
Game hooked me in from the first minutes and kept in me suspense for most of it, until maybe like the last 15%/10% where I started to feel bored and by the very end I just wanted to be done with it.
All in all, very immersive game in stalker mode.

I always played Redux version of all 3 games rather than the originals. And I must say I'm suprised that It is rated this high. Well This game is a really immersing game for me even With Its story. Though I must say, even though normally It doesn't have a incredible story what It did for me was new. We always had that apocalypse Idea but definitely not in a World like this and in Metro's. Well for example I didn't like that new idea with a Quiet Place. But Metro series I liked that darkness actually. I think the best game of the series is Metro Exodus. So It goes as Metro 2033, Metro Last Light, and Metro Exodus for me. It is fun to play while you are fully immersed in story as well. Some guys can say gameplay is repetitive but the topic is repetitive, you shoot things over and over again. So unless you have wild expectations I think trying different weapons and focusing on both story and your own survival should keep you engaged if we think that Game is not that long as well so I never got bored. But It was still kinda mid. Look people, go and play Last light and than Metro exodus which is the climax of the story but also of all games, half open world latest one more and new mechanics You'II realize that This first game just gets the job done actually. With the next ones They achieved more success if you ask me.

Honestly, I had high expectations for **Metro 2033** based on all the praise I’d heard, but after playing it, it didn’t feel like a masterpiece at all—in fact, I ended up really disliking it. The gameplay feels stiff and lifeless due to its old-school **** game world itself is impressive and has a lot of potential for storytelling, but the story in this first installment just didn’t capture me. After finishing it, I felt like my time was wasted and I could have spent it doing something else. The concept had a lot of potential, but I didn’t enjoy the narrative or storytelling at all. On top of that, the survival-style gameplay is frustrating and never really gives a satisfying or fun experience.
