GreedFall

The real enjoyment came when mixing up the two elements of conversation and combat. The way that the game allows you to make some really difficult choices in how you go about on the island give a real feeling of importance.

Easily Spiders’ best work and one that is confident in its own material, GreedFall, though flawed, is one more fine addition to the AA sphere and a great example of passion and dedication, succeeding where it matters.

GreedFall certainly left me wanting more; while its story may be a bit shallow in places, it’s still got a lot of depth, a fluid, intuitive combat system and enough morally-grey missions to bring me back to Teer Fradee some time soon. Forget waiting for the next Dragon Age, GreedFall is an impressive debut for what could well become a classic series.

The best thing about GreedFall is that intangible thing called “flow”: it’s easy to get hooked up and just play it, even though the game doesn’t offer nuanced mechanics or meticulously detailed world. [Issue#241, p.52]

Greedfall is the kind of game where you really need to be into the story to be able to look past its faults and still enjoy it. That can be an issue because while the plot is generally well written and does a good job of tying its side stories into the main thread, the overall subject matter is going to be uncomfortable for some. Its design and gameplay elements are competent but nothing amazing, nor does it really do anything that stands it apart from others in its genre. There's also a fair amount of technical issues to deal with throughout. If the story does grab you, however, it's easy to invest quite a bit of time in the game. If nothing else, Greedfall does tackle the kind of story that few games are willing to discuss.

The Spiders studio didn´t take players‘ comments on the previous titles seriously, and they repeat the same mistakes. GreedFall offers an interesting world, full of amazing characters and ideas, but lacks in other aspects. [Issue#298]

Because Greedfall is so cavalier about its colonialist themes, and because it plays it safe by sticking so closely to the template of open-world RPGs, it doesn't really feel revelatory in any way. Instead, it's content to be just another digital playground--just another world filled with magic, riches, secrets, and monsters for players to shoot and loot at will. I did have fun when I got lost in its familiar RPG loop, but its lack of nuance or innovation prevents it from being truly remarkable.

First of the game runs like sh it while looking OK to decent at times. The quest are mostly interesting while leaving you typically with couples of choices of approach and different endings. Its hard to put it into words but some areas feel lifeless despite being very busy. The combat system, leveling system, rpg elements and itemization are all all right and rather simplified. Overall i recommend it for witcher style rpg but barely so.

Oh boy, what a ride... I was going to make a well-crafted review for this is one of the first "big" games that I was going to post here but at the end, I could not even muster the energy to write more than a few lines. This game is slow, its gameplay resembles a demo and its sandbox is a convoluted highway between points with many bushes to make you feel like you are exploring. In reality, you are going from point A to point B, and may God forbid you to find a place that you were not supposed to find beforehand (you know, the whole point of adventure games in a sense). If you ever dare do that, you won't even get a line of the characters nor will be talked about in the future about how you were in this very suspicious place fifteen minutes ago. I won't drag this out any longer, I had to finish the last three to four missions at 2x speed just because I wanted to finish the game. Quality: 0/10 Entertainment:1/10 Women: Questionable. There is really not a single genuinely good thing in this game that does not have a con.
