If you are not a fan of the show than it is pointless to see the movie. I was totally in love with the show, as is my wife, one of the things we had in common when we first met. I am also a big fan of the Four Horsemen, those loveable Canucks.

"I got a bad feeling about this," is what I should have said during the opening of this film. As a Trekkie, I do know that this movie **** compared to the rest of the Star Wars Universe. Was it necessary to have Ashoka as a character? Lazy animation, crappy dialogue, it all just invited myself to commit Harakiri with a children's toy light saber.

Who are you going to call? F&@# the rest of them, I'm only calling Bill Murray. His deadpan humour makes this film. Now, don't get me wrong, Ackyrod and Ramis are great, as well. However, Murray is like a god. Another highlight of the movie is Rick Moranis. Originally, John Candy was to play the role as a conservative business type. I think that would have bombed. Moranis's version of Tully was perfect. A low point in the movie was Sigourney Weaver. She is much better at fighting aliens. This movie definately brings me back to my childhood. I never could figure out the Slimer charactor. When I see him I say, "Hey, Look it's a ghost." No, I'm more likely to say, "Hey, Look it's the kind of S#%t I have up my nose." Bring on the third installment!

There are two things I have learned from this movie. The first being that there is such a thing as a horny Chilean. The second being, apparently, that I may be a Walter Mitty type. Oxford defines Walter Mitty as "Used to refer to a person who fantasizes about a life much more exciting and glamorous than their own life". I guess you could say that we are all Walter Mitty types. Who doesn't sit around and wonder how exciting it would be to do something other than sitting around. I spent the first part of this movie fantasizing. I was bored and imagined some place that would hold much more interest. That boredom did dissipate by the time we caught up with Sean O'Connell, played by Sean Penn. His talk about savoring a moment resonated with myself. The idea that you should enjoy the moment and breath it in. There is so many things in this world that we should be experiencing. Lately, I feel like I should be breathing in every single moment. Whether it be studying the colour of a beer or hearing you son speak of his new found interest in politics, every moment should be cherished.

In the film, Antron McCray states that the truth will come out. It did come out. In the meantime these boys suffered injustice. These boys suffered an injustice that could easily be experienced in 2015. In the news we hear of places like Ferguson and present day New York. We hear of police overstepping their bounds when it comes to interrogating. We hear of police brutality. There are those who say when you raise these issues you are speaking against the very same people who are there to protect you. That is far from the truth. Anybody who speaks out against these abuses are merely against those who are overstepping their authority. The vast majority of police are heroes. The vast majority of police are people we should be looking up to.

This movie completes me. I was actually surprised my kids sat through this with me. Usually, they resent the idea of me pulling a old movie out of my ass and forcing them to watch it. Sitting through a lot of the quotable moments reminds me this is a quotable movie. "You Complete Me." "Show me the money!" "You had me at hello." "Luke, I am your father" Many moments to remember. The Lipinski kid was a cute little bugger as well. Thanks to him I know a human head weighs 8 pounds. I would have thought it was no more than 6 pounds. This movie also shows us what Renee Zellweger looked like before she was abducted by aliens and replaced with a not so exact copy.
