Valhalla awaits! Color me bonkers, sure the dialogue is scant, Hardy never really breaks out but still can put on a good fight. There a couple of other weakness and yes the hype machine is in full force so there are going to be those that will come away disappointed or does not meet their engrained idea of what a perfect movie should be. This is not a perfect **** is though the perfect Mad Max movie and its everything that I had hoped for. Real action, crazy stunts, a lunatic hellish world, memorable characters, and even more surprising a touching score that accents the action to its dizzying heights but also quite moving in the quiet moments. Yes the movie does belong to **** get used **** belongs with the other greats such as Ripley and Sarah Connors (T2 Sarah). This is action er that offers something different than the what we have been used to, mainly CGI superhero **** I still enjoy those, but there is something deeply primal that is missing from those movies and this movie is the definition of primal action at its best.

Avengers age of Audi. Audi gets more screen time then some of the characters. To me Ultron was just not that great of a villian. Probably the most glaring problem with the movie. Spader's voice is cool, but the baddie doesnt have any good sequences and his army is quiet pathetic. Him singing the whole pinnocio song was probably a disney exec idea and wrote in a memo to Whedon to include that song. This is a movie that tries to have an edge, but its really quiet tame compared to other better Marvel counterparts. Some scenes feel competely out of place. Want to spend 20 minutes on a farm learning about Hawkeye's family? No I didnt think so either. Unless maybe there is Audi dealership around somewhere.

One of the best movies of the decade so far. Rehn director of the pusher trilogy, takes his grittiness and combines it with techno pop flare to create this bloody neon dream scape. Take its cue from another great movie about a man on the edge of the law, Thief, this movie says so much with out saying much. From the perfect beginning sequence to the movie to the great Albert Brooks as the villain, this movie has so many great ideas its amazing. While I will admit it isnt perfect. Im still not a huge Gosling fan and Perlmen's character never really gels right, but this movie is a beast. 9 out of 10

That is right an 8. This movie pure unadulterated pop fantasy. It has some great effects matched with some excellent cinematography. The blu ray looks stellar and this one improves on most of the missteps of the first movie, which I would rate about 4 or a 5. Rosmund Pike is in this and she is pretty good. Worthington is the same and all of the hate of this movie came down because of his wooden performance. But there are too many good things in the movie that allow it to rise above.

In the pantheon of Spider Man movies, this one often looked as being overstuffed and inferior to the previous two. I will actually take this one over any of the new Amazing Spider Mans and even maybe the first Raimi one. Sure there is the whole rebellious Peter Parker that comes off a little forced, or the indestructible Harry Osbourne Jr., who can survive high falls at maximum speeds. He can even take a grenade point blank and come up with only a couple of scars on his face. That aside I liked the team up of Venom and Sandman. The ending is great and even some of the themes of forgiveness are able to hit their mark.

Good ol fashion Nolan. The only films he made that I didnt really care for are Batman Begins and The Dark Knight Rises. This one is not quiet as powerful as Inception was, but it was still a pretty good ride. There are a lot of parallels you could draw from Space Odyssey 2001, but the film has its own signature look and many of the creative decisions feel organic. The good: The dame kill for story is probably the best of the three and feels like a sin city story, even though it goes on a little too long. The color palette and look of the film is pristine. The bad: Dialogue seems hackneyed and cheesy this time around. The voice over is well over used and doesn't have the impact of the original. The Ugly: The Nancy Callahan story at the end is just laughably bad. It s almost seems like self parody at times. MIller and Rodiguez seemed to get lazy including Marv as a hitman in each of the three stories. The movie just loses its punch by the end. There are also a ton of idiotic scenes where characters say things like "Hold still so I can blow your brains out." and then proceed to shoot them in the shoulder. Or a hangman's noose just appears out of nowhere.

Not going to change the world, but good underrated sci fy thriller. I believe it was pretty much trashed by critics when it first came out. It does seem like it is going to be a mediocre aliens rip off. Surprisingly the script is sharp and the characters are well fleshed out before all the mayhem happens. What also helps is Riddick as an interesting choice for a hero. He is a convict whose choices and moral decisions are blurry. He is well played by Deisel and he is able to carry the film and even elevate to something pretty good. The effects are so so but are good enough, i watched a recent hd version and some of it looks good.

USA update of the original. I went in expecting this to be inferior to the well made Swedish version and that was the consensus that I heard about the film. It does do somethings better than the original though, i found this one to be more tense (helped by a good score) in terms of narrative structure even though I knew the outcomes. The small intimate action scenes are also better in this version. The minor issue with this one is that the woman who played the original Lisbeth is so good in that role that it is a difficult act to follow. The actress playing her is fine, but the Swedish one is just more intense and more believable at times (dare I say i found here a little more attractive as this one is extremely thin.)

Best Phase II Marvel movie. Shows what you can do with a Marvel movie, good script and some good ideas. It has the feel of an old school 90s action movie as well a little bit of political thriller thrown on top. The cgi is more disciplined here than in the first one. I liked Robert Redford as the bad dude and he plays it great, like it was his character from the Candidate won a secretary of state position. This is my favorite of the phase II Marvel movies, yes I liked it more than Gaurdians. I believe it is the best Marvel movie since the first Iron Man.

Another rip roaring marvel adventure that's a little bit overrated. For those calling this our generations star wars or spiritual successor to star wars, those people need to visit their local health facilities and have their frontal lobes examined. On the positive side this movie has the usual visual flair **** marvel movie. It also has the same simple mundane plotting coupled with another poorly executed villain. Your enjoyment of this movie will also rest on how funny you find the constant joking that occurs about every 5 minutes. In the theatre that I saw it, I heard the audience chuckle once and I must have chuckled about 3 times quietly to myself. The movie eventually ends with the usual marvel clichés. People are comparing this to the Avengers. I enjoyed the Avengers more and I thought the humor worked much better that movie. The rumor is that guardians will team up with the Avengers for the super movie Avengers 2. I really hope they start bring more than the usual that we have come to expect.

This ranks up there with one of the worst comic book adaptations I have ever seen. Id rather watch some of marvel's early failures like Daredevil and even the fantastic four series than this garbage. Pretty much it all hinges on wether you think it was funny that an Iron Man staple villian is used as a big punchline on punking the audience. This comes in Marvels ineptude of creating good villians, something that I feel most DC movies have a one up on them. I felt like walking out of this one as I waiting for some great scenes with a great actor playing an interesting villian, instead you are treated to is a monty python type comedy sketch that goes on way to long. The rest of the movie didnt really matter to me cause I start to not take any of it seriously.

Great special effects and action, weak plot and the use of an already estabelished villian. Also at about the one hour mark the film slows down to a crawl so it can get everyone together and bicker. As strong as Tom Hildeston is as Loki, i was kind of disappointed to see him as the primary villian for half the movie. There is a huge amount of Avengers villiany through out the comics that could have been tapped into, but Whedon chose to go in the driection of generic space creatures instead. The movie does make good use of humor and its probably the most accessible marvel movie yet.

Surprisingly poor follow up to arguably the best comic book movie ever made. Everyone had high expectations on this one. I ve seen twice, once in theatre, once at home. I still have the same feelings about it. It is a pretentious drag and probably Nolan's worst film. Characters bounce in and out it as the plot tries to be complex but its really quiet simple. What surprised me the most I think was how uninspired many of the action sequences. They are just not that good. The movie also relays on cliche plot devices, like a bomb that takes about a day an half to go off?? Then you have Bane who tries to come off as a eloquent bad a, but he just sounds silly most of the time. He has no poison addiction either which was featured in the comics. He is mostly just a psychotic brute in the comics anyway. They also make up an origin story that I believe was not featured in the comics. As you can tell I couldn't stand this movie, That is enough.

Good solid Film. Consider it an 8.5. It almost reaches the levels of praise that some reviewers are giving. Its a close masterpiece. I felt the climax and ending could have been handled a little differently. It almost happens so fast that you feel like the rug is pulled up from under you, because the film is just starting to hit a terrific pace that I did want to stop. The script is laced with all kinds of good allegories and you could read practically anything into this engaging and sometimes brutal tale. I stared in wonder on just how good the apes looked. It was incredible seeing them. The humans do get the short stick and there is no picture given on the events outside of San Fran. This sequel though has me looking forward to the 3rd film which I thought would never happen. I found first one mildly entertaining, but it is nothing like this one.

My favorite summer movie so far. This film has some excellent moments, feeding off a sci fi hybrid of groudhogs day, saving private ryan, and any recent alien invasion saga. The design is excellent. The mimics look great and are actually quiet frightening when introduced. The repetitive nature of the story works because Liman is able to keep it moving without going over unnecessary parts. The editing works in favor, though I did feel that some of the later reboots were a little vague in detail. Blunt looks awesome carrying that huge sword and killing aliens. Cruise is good enough to play the every man that progresses through the movie to be come a top solider. -A here.

Spoiler Alert at the end. The Monster Movie is still a genre that has yet to be mastered. For me we've seen this before and what I thought was more entertaining sci fi in Pacific Rim. Though that movie was from perfect as well. It seems that directors cannot quiet please everyone on these monster movies or strike a balance with how much a monster should be shown. I like how Pacific Rim came right out the gate and got into the monsters. Then you have Peter Jackson King Kong..which practically ran an hour and half until you saw the Monster. True character development is important but uninteresting character development can a weigh a movie down. I thought this was the case with Godzilla, it seemed that there were much more interesting things going on than what Aaron Taylor was talking about. He seemed like a very straight forward lead, where as Byron Cranston was much more colorful but was killed in the first 1/4 of the movie.

Not as bad as Raimi's spider man 3, but it lacks a certain gravitas maybe?? The script is light and airy, but I felt a lot of lines were kind of cheesy one liners. No doubt Garefield and Stone can act as well as Jamie Foxx. But I hate to beat dead horse but these multiple villian plot lines just dont work for a movie like spider man. I imagine they are just teasing with Rhino and he will be the next one, Why though do we need yet another Harry Osbourne Jr. origin story when it has been featured in the previous installments. A lot of it just felt stale and when the action wasnt booming the movie comes to a screeching halt. There are some creative moments and the action is filmed extremely well though.

It is filmed more as a high octane comedy of hedonistic pleasures and Belfort cult personality that propels everything forward. I thought Jonah Hill was actually funny in this and him Dicaprio have some funny scenes together. A couple funny scenes and few good Scorcese moments isnt really enough to hold an entire 3 hour movie about a self centered stock broker/swindler. It isnt really Dicaprio's fault or any other actors fault, the movie for me just doesnt have that compelling pull. I can only watch someone snort a line, smoke crack, screw a hooker, till he finally realizes its all going to come down (well somewhat). I enjoyed for what it was, the Animal House/Brokerage Firm and the rise and fall of a man who could sell anything and rev up his sales team as well.

Return of the Jackson. Finally Jackson gets it right. His post Lord of the Rings commercial films have been mediocre at best (King Kong, Lovely Bones, Hobbit 1). They seemed like they would have been sure easy slam dunks for him, but the lack of editing in all of them, made them bloated hot messes. I like a few of his pre Lord of the Rings work as well and I knew it was matter of time till he finally directed a good film. The second Hobbit movie gives him more to work with. One you have a great creature creation that Weta can show off, but you also have great action sequences that looked amazing in the high frame rate. The problems of straining my eyes were no longer there and I was able to just absorb everything on the screen. The film still has pacing problems and the characters just aren't as lively or interesting as the LOTR. The biggest problem is the story only really offers dwarves getting in and out of shenanigans and nothing else really propels the story forward until smaug shows up. All that being said its much better than the first and it has me anticipating the final act, which hopefully will shave off another ten minutes from its running time and be ever sharper.

Something tells me that Cormac Mcarthy has some interesting opinions and experiences with women after seeing this film. This is one of the few movies I actually felt bad for the talent involved. The dialogue is just so terrible. Particularly every conversation has some awkward self-conscious feel to it or just some random chit chat about women and how men cant understand them. The only scenes that I felt worked were the opening scene in the bedroom and the conversation the counselor has with the main drug boss near the end. Everything else is this dry philosophical edge. When things finally get going a bunch a stuff happens and its really not as compelling as it set up to be. The cameos are terrible too, they have no meaning what so ever. I knew going in it wasnt a well reviewed movie but, I wanted to see it for myself. I was surprised people talked so much in it, cause in Mcarthy's literature he can say a lot without really saying much. This one had me running for the border...i mean the exit.
