Watchmen

A terrific comic-book movie, the most completely satisfying and unsettling one I've ever seen.

Watchmen has moments of greatness. It proves again that the action movie is where the best young Hollywood brains have gone to bring flesh to their fantasies.

Watchmen is a spectacularly violent movie.

The most pleasant surprise in the movie adaptation of "Watchmen" is the pop-art fusion set off by placing superheroes in a "real" world. The film's biggest challenge – and accomplishment – was making that plausible.

In the canon of comic-book movies, it's not as campy bad as the "Batman" starring George Clooney, but nowhere near the caliber of the Spider-Man movies or "The Dark Knight." It may have more style, but it's only a jot more entertaining than "Catwoman."

Speaking as an admirer, but not an apostle, of the graphic novel, I thought the Watchmen movie was confusing, maddeningly inconsistent and fighting a long, losing battle to establish an identity of its own.

Snyder and writers David Hayter and Alex Tse never find a reason for those unfamiliar with the graphic novel to care about any of this nonsense. And it is nonsense.

Он сочетает в себе два, казалось бы, несочетаемых элемента: фантастический мир, в который легко поверить, и пугающую реалистичность. Всё это дополняется прекрасно подобранным звуковым сопровождением и композициями, в которых нужно искать иронию. Например, можно вспомнить «Полёт валькирии» во Вьетнаме. Звук: Каждый кадр и каждый звук, выбранные Снайдером, прекрасно дополняют статичные изображения, созданные А. Муром. Это свидетельствует о том, что Зак не мог позволить себе испортить дело всей своей жизни. Он настолько предан этой картине, что это невозможно не заметить. Драматургия, работа оператора, звуковое сопровождение и общий антураж — всё это было сделано под чутким руководством. Персонажи: В комиксе «Хранители» главные герои — обычные люди, которые надевают супергеройские костюмы. Среди них есть Доктор Манхэттен — единственный персонаж, обладающий сверхспособностями. Однако, несмотря на свою силу, он не является определяющим сюжет героем и даже если бы его не было в истории, это не изменило бы сюжет радикально. Есть ещё один персонаж, выделяющийся своей бескомпромиссностью. Его действия кажутся глупыми, но я понимаю героя. Он идет на смерть с чистой совестью, потому что жил без компромиссов и был готов умереть за свои идеалы. Сюжет: Спустя восемь лет после запрета супергероев, кто-то начал их убивать. Можно подумать, что это детективная история, и отчасти это так. Однако в произведении есть и фантастические элементы (альтернативная история), а также деконструкция образа супергероя (задолго до появления «The Boys»). Особенно мне понравилась концовка — злодей оказался не таким однозначным, как казалось на первый взгляд, а на другой стороне был герой, который был его полной противоположностью. Фантастический детектив, затрагивающий важные и взрослые вопросы. В нём сталкиваются чувство справедливости и правильность принятого решения. Стоит ли пожертвовать тысячами, чтобы спасти миллионы? На этот вечный вопрос отвечает автор Алан Мур, и с ним сложно не согласиться. Больше всего мне понравились персонажи и неожиданные сюжетные повороты. Итог: Я считаю, что этот фильм – самое близкое к первоисточнику произведение. До выхода этого фильма это был факт. Хотя, конечно, есть некоторые расхождения, например, в концовке и возраста некоторых героев. Я бы предпочёл увидеть ту концовку, но и эта концовка не хуже. Увлекательный сюжет с неожиданным финалом. Когда я смотрел давно этот фильм, он мне был непонятен. В комиксе всё было ясно и понятно объяснено. Возможно, я смотрел театральную версию, потому что вставок с «Tales of the Black Freighter» я точно не видел. Когда я ознакомился с комиксом и сразу пересмотрел фильм, я помнил только начало и концовку, но теперь я прочувствовал и другие моменты. Я посмотрел Ultimate Cut — это самая полная версия фильма. Это практически покадровая экранизация. Хотя Снайдер хотел растянуть фильм на 6 часов, как по мне, он и так отлично справился. На мой взгляд, у него и так получилось великолепно, и лучшей экранизации быть не могло, ведь режиссёр сам является фанатом комикса. Смотрел в озвучке: Пифагор

J’aime pas (trop) les films de supers héros : c’est toujours lobotomisé du ciboulot, rien que du divertissement à la macgerbale calibré pour la masse du troupeau bêlant… mais rien de tel ici grâce à un scénario remarquablement intelligent qui évite les clichés. Les tarés en collants et en plastique sont creusés un minimum (c’est-à-dire qu’ils ressemblent à un peu plus que des coquilles vides) tout comme les dialogues moins idiots que d’habitude… Pas de stars -c’est pas plus mal- car tout est passé dans les effets spéciaux (superbes) et le filmage est à la hauteur, ce qu’il faut de tape-à-l’oeil mais toujours maîtrisé. Je ne suis pas fan pour autant de ces supers héros là : l’ersatz de batmou et sa boîte de ravioli, Miss latex (sans commentaire), le monsieur et sa tronche de serpillère, le Musclor transparent qui pérore la bite à l’air… mais tout est présenté de telle façon qu’on ne fait plus attention à leur look de clowns. Plus de deux plombes et demi et on ne voit pas le temps passer en tout cas. Dommage, ces musiques, je veux dire, ces chansons de merde ici et là (Simon et Garfunkel au secouuuurs putaaaainnn… sans compter ce foutu braillard à l’intro et sa guitare de crevard !) Y avait plus de pognon pour terminer la musique ou quoi ? et placer aussi un extrait du Requiem de Mozart m’a choqué… un peu de modestie, Môssieur Snyder, ce n’est pas de l’art que vous faites, c’est un honnête divertissement et… c’est déjà pas mal… mais sans plus !

Except for the ending it is one of the most fateful graphic novels adaptations in movies. Sadly the ending angered many fans and it would be a masterpiece without it. To be fair you can argue that the ending does the same as the source but in a different way. I will give a summary with a spoiler warning at the end of the review. Lets start at the Beginning: Watchman is a graphic novel by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons. It has fan and critical acclaim and is a frequent contender for best comics of all time rarely if ever missing the top 5. It is set in an alternative world in 1985 that resembles our own but also is quite different. Nixon is still President in 1985, the Vietnam war was won thanks to Dr. Manhattan but the Cold War is still there maybe even more serious. Masked Superheroes existed but except Dr. Manhattan they have no superpowers. Those were outlawed a few years before the events of the movie by a nation wide police strike. Story: After a set up that shows a bit of the history of this world a man named Edward Blake died under strange circumstances. The vigilante hero Rorschach discovers that there was more behind Blake and this leads to even more questions. Meanwhile the tensions between thee USA and Russia reach new heights and it seems a war that can end humanity is on the horizon. I stop here to avoid spoilers and have already been a bit vague. The story is excellent and entertains form start to nearly finish. The ending is the elephant in the room. While being not a mayor change in what is happening the how is ruining the movie for many. While I have not read the novel before the movie I see why. See below if you like but beware of spoilers. The visuals, effects and dedication to the source are amazing. Like I said you hardly find a better adaptation. The actors do an amazing job. I praise the whole cast and there are a lot of great moments. In this regard it is an amazing adaptation too. I think I said all necessary things I can without spoilers. Overall this is a great movie / adaptation with an ending that angered many fans. Because of this it is hated. I give a 6/10 because of the ending (Otherwise a 10/10). Spoiler warning: In the graphic novel Ozymandias let scientist design / fabricate an alien that appears in New York and kills millions with a psychic wave before it died. As planned this stopped the looming world war as mankind banned together to defend themselves against this unknown outside thread. Not a perfect plan but it safes humanity or at least gives time to solve the problems that lead to this nuclear standoff. Now to the movie: With Dr. Manhattan as seemingly 7 framed bad guy I think mankind would surrender immediately instead of mobilizing the military as they cant kill him. Even a full disintegration is a small inconvenience for him and he has god like abilities that outclass everything mankind have. As perspective: Neither the Avengers nor Justice League would be able to stop him in a serious fight.

cinematic wise it was really good but it was sooo long and boring it made me go to sleep in fact I enjoyed the comic story within the movie (Black Freighter) more than I enjoyed the movie
