The Coens are back with a vengeance, showing their various imitators and detractors what great American filmmaking looks like, and they have supplied a corrective adjustment to the excesses of goofy-quirky comedy that damaged their recent work. The result is a dark, violent, and deeply disquieting drama, leavened with brilliant noirish wisecracks, and boasting three leading male performances with all the spectacular virility of Texan steers.

Caught in the movie's grip, you are simply hypnotized by the damned thing.

Perfect in every way with one of the best movie villains of all time.

There is just something about No Country for Old Men that hits incredibly well for me. The story is told in a deep and intriguingly captivating way. Anton Chigurh is one of the best villains of all time. The random acts of violence and evil, while following his own lawful evil code is astounding to watch. I don't believe this movie will ever get old.

If watching movie violence is cathartic, then this film amounts to heavy therapy. It's much more than that, however. This is the best film the Coen brothers have done since their glory days of "Fargo" and "The Big Lebowski," maybe the best they've done, period.

The most measured, classical film of their (Coen Brothers) 23-year career, and maybe the best.

It’s a near masterpiece.

The Coens' typically superior filmmaking sustains the electrifying mood for most of the picture, but they are undone by being too faithful to the source novel by Cormac McCarthy.

I appreciate No Country for Old Men for the skill in the film craft. I understand No Country for Old Men for its penetrating disquisition on narrative conventions and its heroic will in subverting them. I admire No Country for Old Men for the way it tightens its grip as it progresses, taking us deeper and deeper into a hellish world. I just don't like it very much.

Action Horror is not a niche, but pretty cameral genre, which lacks great films that truly combine horror atmosphere and action elements. That really work in quite a special condition, and the Coen brothers manage to achive that balance and gave us a great representative of the genre.

I'm not saying its a bad movie, in fact, the acting is brilliant (specially Bardem), but I was so disappointed by the ending.

A well acted wet fart of a film. I have no idea why this film is so praised when it does little in the way of tell a decent cohesive story with characters that are in any way likeable.
They got lucky that they hired some damn fine talent to mask over such a boring and half assed story.
