Masterplan is a lot of fun, because it’s a kind of crime procedural involving likable criminals with lofty aspirations.

Even as the plot becomes increasingly ridiculous, ample bangs and explosions ensure that the nearly two-hour runtime doesn’t totally drag. The best you can offer Masterplan is faint praise: it could breeze by as company to your Sunday night takeout even if you will struggle to remember it a week later.

After that third-act twist picks things up a little, Masterplan's ending fittingly descends into utter nonsense, with more farcical twists added in place of actual narrative substance and a complete lack of logical build. Even the attempt at an emotional payoff rings hollow. I don't know what more to say, really, it's just a mess.

(Mauro Lanari) Thomas Vincent couldn't have known that at 9:30 on Sunday, October 19, 2025, the Louvre was actually being robbed in just 7 minutes: but didn't he even know that "Afterburn" was already about the theft of a code-named "Mona Lisa"? Or is it a heist movie that, produced by Amazon Studios, has the value of corporate self-referentiality?

Poor screenplay, lackluster humor, abysmal acting. Tucci is just fine but he is given nothing to work with. Just bad piece of cinema
