Genuinely some of the most fun I've had playing a video game this year; if you are a fan of 40K this is a no-brainer must play title. If you are not a fan, this is a great way to get glimpse of the universe. The titanic scales of the WAR in Warhammer 40k shines through at several points; at least to me, it really does feel like you're taking part in battles at an apocalyptic scale. The number of allies and enemies that can be on screen at once is truly impressive, let alone when combined with the scale of the backdrops. There were many times where I just stood and gawked at the sheer amount of battle going on around me. The main campaign is a bit short, and that's the only reason this game isn't a 10/10. However; you CAN play all of the Operations offline and solo with bots, which is a completely valid way to extend playtime. The operations also do not skimp on content; their levels are designed with their own massive scale; unique locations, unique boss fights, the feeling that you are fighting alongside an army... That is all there in the Operations missions. Also, as a side note... I'm just so happy to have a linear, level based, single player shooter in front of me again. It almost feels like a lost art when everything else seems to be chasing open world design.

The two reviews below mine, from JrDouble and iTarnishedShura, are so unbelievably stupid it makes me want to die. Disregard anything they have to about anything in the future. Speaking as someone who loves FPS games, this is one of the best I've played in a very long time. Shooting feels GREAT in this game; all the weapons are punchy, enemy reactions to being hit are phenomenal, and their combat chatter is great. It also has the best shotgun in a game of the last few years and it's not even close. The movement mechanics are phenomenal; it will never get old taking someone hostage and then throwing them like a ragdoll into a group of their buddies after you pull the pin on their grenades. The story is on the light side, but what's there is interesting and there is a surprising amount of background lore. Overall; this game is amazing and I do not regret a single moment I've spent playing this. It is, by far, the most fun I've had playing an FPS recently.

Speaking as someone who only ever plays Call of Duty for the single player campaigns: Jesus Christ, what a letdown. If this game didn't have such good moment to moment gameplay, and if the guns didn't feel so good to shoot each and every time, this game would have literally nothing to offer. Too many missions where you are on your own and one-man-army your way through a recycled Warzone location. You only fight alongside NPC allies a small handful of times throughout the entire campaign and there are nearly zero "epic" moments the entire experience. The more I think about this game, the more my disappointment grows.

I don't give out this 9/10 lightly, but I seriously can't think of another game in the last year that deserves it as much as this game does. Made by a solo dev, OXTO is the most fun I've had playing a top down shooter since Hotline Miami, and honestly it might even be better than that in some ways. The music is amazing, the guns all sound incredible, the moment to moment gameplay is top notch, the powerups are great... this is seriously a game I'd recommend to almost anyone if they like shooters. The ONLY negative is the nearly non-existent story. It's there, and there is some background lore, but unlike Hotline Miami, the gameplay is clearly the pure focus. Check this game out ASAP.

A nearly perfect experience, I don't regret a moment I spent with this game. Genuinely phenomenal atmosphere, great graphics, and gameplay that doesn't hold your hand while still giving you every answer you need if you just use common sense and pay attention. If someone thinks this game is badly designed, they are likely deeply unintelligent and can safely ignored The only complaint I have is how short it is; you can wrap this up in about 6 hours if you're going slow and getting killed a lot like what happened to me. Also; it is SO refreshing to play a game like this where you can actually fight back against the monster chasing you instead of just hiding. More first person horror games with combat mechanics, please!

The only thing that would ever bring me back to Blood Drive is knowing it has a kick ass main menu theme. Especially now in 2020, there is no reason to play this beyond curiosity when you see it in the bargain bin for $5 .

Extremely well executed ideas within the game itself and a company that has been releasing massive pieces of new content for this game (story mode chapters) for free, for years at this point, alongside continuous patches and QoL improvements. A truly respectable commitment to this game and the community has been displayed by this developer and it should be applauded.

One of the purest examples I know of an idea elevating subpar to average gameplay to something greater. This game is extremely cheap nowadays, and if you want a unique FPS, there is a LOT worse you can do than this.

If you like Generation Kill, you'll like this game. More accessable than Dragon Rising, and better game feel overall. The sense of scale is impressive, with at times dozens of friendly AI to fight alongside and against in enormous environments. Any review, like the one immediately before mine, that says this game looks bad can be safely discarded. This game looks great when you realize the scale of the map and the many AIs that run at once. A negative would be the main platoon leader you fight with on every mission, the guy never shuts up. He never develops as a character and is definitely a low point. That said, his dialogue is authentic if you know any actual Marines. For that matter, this game does pull off dialogue and voice acting generally well. I think this game has a great progression of conflict, starting with fighting insurgents like what Afghanistan was before morphing into a modern war between the US and China. Not a game a game for everyone, but if anyone rates this game 0, you can bin every other review they've ever done because they are incredibly stupid.

I've played and beaten every aspect of this game solely because it's the only third person zombie apocalypse in progress game I could find on PS4. As a fan of all the previous Dead Rising titles, this is absolutely the worst one. If I were a non fan, I might be able to give it more of a pass because it is brainless fun to massacre zombies. That said, the writing is so damn bad it hurts. How the studio managed to make writing worse than the recent Saints Row reboot is astounding.

The very definition of average. Good sniping mechanics bogged down by really hit and miss graphics (hello, PS1 era textures on the enemies in the first 3 chapters especially, good Christ how did they misuse CryEngine this bad?) and a cliche plot held up by occasional good voice acting (hello, Troy Baker playing the MC). With it now being 2022, this game is dirt cheap. If you want some single player FPS sniping, it will scratch the itch, but don't expect much else besides.

Since it's 2022, all we have left of this game is the single player content. Sadly, I missed the boat on this game when it released almost two decades ago (jeez, where did the time go). From everything I know and have seen, if you played this game for the multiplayer when it was active, it was a solid, above average game. That being said, I hope nobody bought it for the single player. Rarely has a game struck me as so boring, slow, and drab that I can barely play for more than 30 minutes before I need to switch it up. It's very clear that the single player was designed as a big tutorial for the multiplayer because although there is a decent selection of missions, each faction your mercenary works for focuses on a different type of mech. The story is very dull and uninteresting, the graphics are outdone by the first MechAssault on the original Xbox, the gameplay is slow and plodding... I have no desire to ever play this again.

Even in 2022, I believe the single player campaign of this game more than holds up. You can find it for about $5 anywhere you look, and although the campaign is only about 4-5 hours long, there's a reason why I've revisited it so many times over the past decade. It has something that's really hard to describe: feel. It just FEELS good to play. The firefights are loud, the sound effects are fantastic, and the engine uses what could be some of my favorite realistic ragdoll physics in a 7th gen game. When someone is shot, the reaction and feedback is solid. On the player's end as well: you can't Rambo the encounters; even on medium difficultly, if you stay in the open, you'll die quickly. Utilizing the peak and lean feature is sometimes essential and adds just that little bit extra of interactivity and interest. The story, following Tier 1 operators and Army Rangers clearing out a region of Taliban and Al-Qaeda fighters in Afghanistan, is played very straight, as it should have been. There's no overarching bad guy, no super epic moments where you save the world... it's a realistic and well done depiction of a modern war. The fact that it's now over 12 years since the game released also makes it feel, in a way, like a time capsule. That occasionally reaches the graphics; sometimes they are muddy and blurred for a few moments before loading in, but overall the game still holds up all these years later. One thing that I cannot overstate is how much the ending to this game has stuck with me since I first played it. Sure, it plays a bit on the patriotism of Americans, especially of that time, but moreso than anything else it's a dedication to soldiers, those who do what most couldn't, the sacrifices they make, and the brotherhood shared between them. It's clear throughout the whole experience this game was made with the input of and by a lot of veterans. The reverence given to them is best summed up by the opening words of the final screens of the game, "To all our brothers, past and present". The following paragraphs of dedication and remembrance of the fallen, accompanied by a beautiful score, can still move me to tears to this day. Like I said near the beginning, this game is dirt cheap nowadays, and if you're looking for a good FPS single player campaign, you could do a LOT worse than this.

If we are looking at just the single player campaign in the current year of 2022, is it the best ever made? Hell no. Is it one of the worst ever? HELL no. People need to get more perspective on what a truly awful experience actually is. I still come back to this campaign occasionally, because there are some genuinely good moments sprinkled throughout. It uses the same engine as Battlefield 3, so you'll see some familiar animations, and that also means the sound effects are very well done. Firefights feel good and the gunplay is solid. I think it holds up graphically even today... If you squint a bit. It's about 5 bucks to pick up now, so if you want a return to when FPS games had campaigns that were at least slightly above average, or at worst average, TRUST me, you could do a lot worse than this.

To start, I'm a little biased. This game came into my life at a near perfect moment, and it's never left. This is one of the few games that I've ever platinum'd/ gotten every achievement for because I enjoy it that much. That being said, this game is cert not for everyone. It's Ubisoft open world, which means lots of map icons, lots of repetitive objectives... We all know what Ubisoft open world is. However, something about this game being one of the few I can think of that has a drug cartel as the main enemy faction just keeps me coming back for more. Any review that says the story is subpar is frankly kind of an idiot. The main bad guy is extremely compelling, the cutscenes that tell the story are all extremely artistic and well made, and the voice acting, while horrible in some parts, is really nailed by the main characters.

To be absolutely clear, Breakpoint as it released years ago deserved the scathing reviews it got. It was terrible, horribly implemented, buggy... It was a mess. That being said, props need to be given to the team behind this game, because they have stuck with it and have made it one of my most played games over this past year since I picked it up along with the season pass. First and foremost, TURN OFF THE LEVELED LOOT SYSTEM. It adds nothing to the game. If you see any other review of this game from any point past early 2021 complaining about the leveled loot, disregard it completely because the author isn't smart enough to tie their shoes let alone write a game review. Breakpoint is now one of the most enjoyable TPS games I've played since Wildlands, and although it's not perfect (the always online requirement on its own will ensure it never could be even close to top marks), it's good enough that I've put in over 115 hours. I wish the AI was just a little bit smarter, but if you crank up the difficulty and turn off assists and make the HUD minimal, it can get extremely immersive. I'd almost call it one of the best tactical roleplaying games (if that makes sense to say) you can get on console. The world designers at Ubisoft in my opinion never get enough credit: the island of Aurora is very well designed in my opinion, not just in how good the graphics are but in how logical the layout is and what facilities there are. It's like they hired an actual city planner to help them with developing a realistic layout, and what types of support facilities would be needed. Even with no civilians on the roads, the areas where they would be under the martial law the setting is under are brimming with life. I have to give the developers props for the amount of customization you can do to your experience: you can change many aspects of the game, from how many or few helicopter patrols there are, how many drones you deal with, , how much or how little you want to interact with the survival mechanics , how many guns you can carry, if you have AI teammates or not, every single piece of the HUD can be toggled on or off and have its size changed... I've barely ever seen a game so customizable, experience wise. It's honestly remarkable. With it being a live service game, they did several live events at certain points. One of the other toggles they added was the ability to set the "world state" to that live event. This is a really great way to make sure that no player misses out on any content that they released over the years, because they were substantial, changing the world map in several ways, from adding poison gas clouds across the island with a story to investigate, to the resistance movement finally going to all out war against the PMC, to even a crossover with the Terminator franchise that has Terminator robots invade. The story is...Okay at best, but good enough for me to want to kill the bad guys, and honestly what more do you want from a Ghost Recon game? If you're buying the base game and coming from Wildlands, it's important to note that you will not be chasing down and destabilizing different provinces anymore. The base game only has a few missions where the goal is to take out a target, which honestly was disappointing as those were my favorite missions in the last game. However, upon starting the third chapter of the game every one of the objectives is to assassinate a target, which was implemented after player feedback to introduce more Wildlands-esque objectives. That brings me to something else I need to mention: jumping right in, it can be very confusing to understand what's going on. Especially if you have the Season pass, all DLC expansions are displayed on the main map with barely any explanation as to what to play and in what order if you want to experience all content in chronological story order. For clarity, play Chapter 1 missions first, then Chapter 2, then Chapter 3. It sounds simple enough, but when everything in thrown on the map at the same time, believe me, it gets a bit confusing, especially when you tack on the optional side missions. Chapter 2 adds in several missions with Sam Fisher from Splinter Cell, which is pretty entertaining if you ignore the fact that Ubisoft still hasnt given us a damn Splinter Cell game in over a decade. You can turn on the world events I mentioned earlier at any time separately, and I did so at times in the story that I felt made sense (i.e. turning on the Resistance! world parameter after I did the rebellion quest chain up to a point where it would make sense they go to war). All in all, Breakpoint is better than it's ever been. If you enjoyed Wildlands, and you can get all the content on sale like I did, there is no doubt in my mind you'll find many hours of enjoyment.
