When a movie is frequently talked about, it is difficult to ignore it. You feel compelled to examine the movie yourself with a frown, normal face, smile, tears, or fascination. For me, it was indeed fascination.

Having seeing the face of Selena Gomez on this film's poster gave me diverse thoughts on this film's performance, but her musical talent and Zoe Saldina's Spanish fluency bring this film's chances of being one of the year's best to an entitled level.

The Wild Robot10
Sep 30, 2024
Not hearing of this film until seeing trailers of it a couple weeks prior to its release, "The Wild Robot" seemed like a simple animated film, until hearing Lupita N'yongo's idiosyncratic voice as the stranded robot Roz, who knows how to enhance the quality of a motion picture. Roz, stranded on an island is being treated like an intruder by the island's inhabitants by unintentionally killing a family of geese, except for a surviving egg of its kind. The egg hatches with the baby goose confirming Roz as its mother and comes of age, but at a slower pace than usual, while Roz reboots her own breed after being abruptly ashore.
This is a film that has a simple story, but director Chris Sanders finds the most palpable voice for Roz and composer for the tethering soundtrack.

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga7
May 25, 2024
I was prepped with hype and chaos for George Miller's "Furiosa" upon arriving at the cinema. Upon leaving the building, I thought "The second sand film of 2024 (first being Dune: Part 2), that gives a merit to my eyes, except this one does not reach fully cogency. Heavily disciplined Anya Taylor Joy rides out to Outback Australia to work under the thumb of native George Miller for a prequel of "Fury Road." Anya plays young Furiosa who gets abducted by wastelanders while she fends for herself. She comes of age in the wasteland, and she learns the ways of her kidnapper while playing a servant and secretly seeking revenge on those who foiled her. George Miller has made a substantial amount of pictures that are shot in widely open areas that tell us his fast paced action in these areas are the best place for him to reach his every nuance.

Challengers8
May 1, 2024
Zendaya has taken simple roles during her youth but has subsequently stiffened her nerve into taking on the foray of adolescent impersonations, given this and last month's "Dune: Part 2." The story of "Challengers" goes out of order like "Pulp Fiction", but gives audiences ample time to follow. Taking us a couple days prior, Zendaya plays a wife and former tennis player who coaches her husband played by Mike Faist where they encounter an old friend of theirs on the tennis court to inspect each other's aptitude, with a love triangle making an appearance. There are scenes where the actors make out, some of which are done in a single shot that impresses me and also questions me on how many takes these shots required. The film knew that it was going to produce a simple sports film, but knows better to keep the audience attentive with Trent Renzor and Atticus Ross' fast-paced score and Zendaya keeping her mind off ease during her time in front of the camera.

Ethan Coen, but no Joel Coen as the driving force of this film are disemboweled in regards to reception. An integrated plot reminding me of "Thelma and Louise" and "No Country for Old Men" that loses my interest with two women; a roisterer and a self-starter loving each other too much during the movie that it has nearly purpose of being there.

Over the Hedge5
Nov 6, 2022
A raccoon who is desperately hungry inserts money from a vending machine that amateurishly gets jammed before completing the transaction and does whatever juvenile maneuver to complete it. Resulting his failures, he turns his head to a bear cave that is more convenient at the moment from a bear who has no origin of his idee fixe for human food instead of fish. While making a robbery from the bear he accidently loses the load of food to a truck and is to retrieve it all before the spoiled bear's hibernation is over with the help of critters who come across a hedge that has been sitting there for who knows how long, along with their residency.
It looks like a charming and delightful computer-animated cartoon for the whole family, but the analogy of the film's animals remains absent and left my involvement unassured.

Three Thousand Years of Longing7
Aug 31, 2022
Even as George Miller's first film in 7 years, his peculiar, but honest and focused style of filmmaking is brought to the big screen regardless of how long the film took to make. While a majority of the film is storytelling of one character, it is to persuade the feeling of solitude, diligence, and misery.

The Lost City6
Mar 25, 2022
When I sat there in the theater, it felt like I was watching an adolescent version of "Dora and the Lost City", but without Dora; and the "Uncharted" movie, except I was admired by the better casting choices and had a plot that was more from scratch. This movie has an interesting theme where a reclusive author, Loretta hides her ideas of a fantasy novel from society as a surprise. While promoting her new novel, she is faced with exaggeration when a lunatic kidnaps her and Loretta faces visualized aspects from her novel on an island. The contemplations this film had me wondering if an imagination of an author had a perfect scenario for Loretta to reflect vividly on characters that she created and what she would be able to do with the materiality of them.
It feels like this film wanted to have a little simultaneous competition with "Uncharted" and as I see it, the visuals here required less effort than in "Uncharted", while that movie had a plot that was more befogging and this film followed through better.

Paddington 29
Mar 23, 2022
With Paddington finally safe with the Browns in harmony after dealing with the diabolical Millicent Bystander, I mean just **** bear cub is back with an unanticipated payoff in a sequel. Wait, a payoff? That is right, in this glorious family film that strikes again with a vengeance. When I said the first film was like Paddington being on his own for the first time, just like a fresh high school grad goes off to college or moves into his or her own house, this one shows a secondary function when certain unexpected dilemmas can clash into you and have to think fast to get yourself out of it. Paddington works until he loses his fur to pay for a surprise book that he wants to give to his aunt for her one hundredth lap lap around the sun. He becomes treated in the opposite way of the first film: a jailed hero when mistakenly accused. There is great satire in this movie when it becomes stylized in the same way as the films acclaimed films One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest and The Shawshank Redemption when there is motivation involved to inmates. Most movies do not always result the way as planned, but there is always maximum effort shown by the characters. I do not only see Paddington 2 as a rare sequel that is better than its predecessor, but I see it as a film that makes the characters revitalize their self-identities and hope, even if a coincidence is likely to ensue.

Paddington9
Mar 23, 2022
Most movies that have a protagonist enter a new world of their own is a recycled plot for a family movie, and Paddington complies with it with something better than expected. This is a film with highly focused slapstick comedy and a script that is virtually utilized perfectly that is like the live-action version of Wallace and Gromit. My spirit animal has been a bear because it is a creature that I wish was on the list of . Paddington comes from the grovey land of Peru and is forced to evacuate when his land is dismantled. When the film shows the young cub leaving his home, he shows the audience the feeling of what it is like to move out on your own for the first time, just like when fresh high school graduates are moving into college dorms or their own residence. The cub takes two boats to its destination: one on water and the other he hides in from the humans. The bear on this film’s poster is called Paddington by the Browns, an human family who find Paddington at a London train station, unanticipated and subtle to all the passengers. One day, while the Browns are doing their weekday routine, Paddington loses his subtlety when he becomes a hero after he sees a man drop a wallet that is believed to be his, but is eventually tackled and unveils wallets from his overcoat that tells his true identity is a theft. Worthy for his valor and recognition, he catches the attention of an animal tracker played by the diligent and intelligent Australian actress Nicole Kidman that has a very adjacent English accent.
Paddington is a film loaded with charm, mischief, exhilaration, and magic created by director Paul King and producer David Heyman from the Harry Potter film franchise.

A Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon10
Mar 19, 2022
Usually a movie shows and tells a story. In the world of Aardman Studios' stop-motion animation, there is no telling but showing for the first three minutes within the introduction of the protagonist(s) who use their gestures for, just like in "Chicken Run" and "The Curse of the Were-Rabbit". However in this farm-environmental flick, this no-dialogue implement is not used for the first three minutes of the film, it is used for the entire eighty-five minutes. This artistry reminds of a "Tom and Jerry" cartoon where the precocious mouse and the inelegant cat do not use verbal communication on screen, just like Gromit the dog and by all means, in our world of lucidity. I did not put on such a large grin on my face to an Aardman film like this since "The Curse of the Were-Rabbit" and I think Aardman studios are well on their way to bringing back their respected faith to the public eye.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire8
Mar 17, 2022
The Prisoner of Azkaban was rated PG, just like the first two films; but this is the first in the franchise to receive a PG-13 rating due to more disturbing images and more adolescent characters. Heck, the opening scene shows a character being cast by the killing curse that we hear for the first time, but hear only a fraction of from the Chamber of Secrets. An intriguing irony is shown in the beginning of the flick where Harry finally has a satisfying summer with the Weasleys abroad the loathsome Dursleys and even attends a Quidditch match for the big leagues along with them. Following an exuberant night with his generous pals, a hellfire emerges and anarchy ensues, symbolizing that each moment in the movie is becoming more darker and minacious than Harry’s previous adventures, making the images look virtually like a horror movie. Harry’s adventure this year covers an integration with two foriegn wizarding institutions, who are more preparatory as each enrolls only one gender and they are at Hogwarts to compete in the Triwizard tournament for an unretentive prize: an empty trophy-figured cup. The tournament is more like a fatal pop quiz for the underaged Harry Potter who has no means of escape for his qualification in the top-notch survival alley for training wizards, envisaged with dragons and undersea venoms. Sensitivity and virtuosity is the key to finding the exit from these arduous obstacles. The triwizard tournament has a strict adolescent policy whereas all members must be at least seventeen years of age, equal to the lack of the Trace on wizards. While Harry Potter, only fourteen has his hat thrown in the ring with his normal fellow opponents and is believed that he will cheat his way through the competition and will refuse to watch him suffer the excruciating consequences, but with Harry’s speciality, he exert himself to prove his doubters wrong.
The legendary John Williams forwent to compose for Harry’s enrollment in the Triwizard tournament and that meant there is triumph, but less charm and delight manipulation towards the audience. We can understand that the actors are growing more adolescent as they make more footprints through Hogwarts and that also means how the crew are profoundly making the movies.

I had negative omissions for this film at first because of the casting of actors, but I just saw this movie and I was infinitely prevailed until the moon was born by the film's 3-hour advantage by its bee's knees in combat and setup. Robert Pattinson spent a whole decade finding the right fang props for his minion bats on set after relinquishing his incommodious vampire pairs from "Twilight."

The Power of the Dog7
Mar 13, 2022
I liked it, but I did not love it because it feels like a mix of "Brokeback Mountain" with the herd of mammals and "There Will be Blood" with identical cinematography, set design, costumes, and a supernatural music score by the selfsame Jonny Greenwood. My thoughts on the amount of art produced in the movie weighed a smidge more than the narrative structure that has a bit of nil, but is able to be accompanied all the way to the end credits.
