Be you a fan of basketball or basket weaving, Air will snugly fit the tastes of just about anybody.

The banter in Convery’s script is entertaining, but it’s truly the actors under Affleck’s excellent direction that makes Air feel like something special. It doesn’t nail every scene or sentiment; but when the film is good (which is often), it’s on fire.

A mostly CG-free, witty, grown-up drama that revels in strong, propulsive storytelling? Sometimes they do make ’em like they used to.

As always, Affleck remains one of the directors who can disguise a powerful parable as giddy, crowd-pleasing entertainment.

Air is shot through with an infectious energy, but it’s more poignant for the way that it rhymes the histories of its actors in the public eye with all that Nike’s creatives were struggling to reconcile when they were chasing after Jordan.

As he has shown in other directorial efforts—most especially 2007’s Gone Baby Gone—Affleck has a real knack for both building narrative momentum and attenuating a film’s emotions until they ascend into a satisfying catharsis.

This film winds up looking like the most expensive in-house corporate promo in history: shallow, parochial and obtuse. By the time the credits roll, we’re apparently supposed to be euphoric – not so much at individual sporting achievement, but at all the billions of dollars that Nike has been making.

Great movie with no b.s, just straight up delivers on what the trailer promises. It feels like a great old school film. You'll leave a movie theater with a good mood!

Won't say it was a bad movie, but I can say it is unnecessary. I love real-life stories, but this story doesn't have much to say. That is why the film is a bit boring. No action because the story doesn't have none

Air is a decent dad movie with good acting and a very easy-going vibe, but the characters are not that interesting, and, ultimately, it's strange to root for corporativism. Also, the constant needle drops feel forced, like if Ben Affleck wasn't sure we would this is set in the 80s. Not bad, and it has very funny moments, but like every by-the-numbers biopic will make you go to Wikipedia and look for the facts instead of making you THINK about the story after the credits roll.

This is an amazingly uninspired, drab, bland, telling of this story. It feels like a puff piece mixed with after school special level of writing. The end has a title card saying that Phil Knight has "given 2 billion to charity".... lolololol Was that part of the deal to get the rights??? Give me a break. This was a 30 min episode turned into a 2 hour movie where no one has a character arc, and everyone is boring but Michael Jordan's mom, who is barely in it. The acting was just so boring too.

This film is a missed opportunity. This could have been about Michael Jordan and how the Air Jordan's came to be. Instead it's about the agents and execs behind the idea. They barely go into how they came up with the shoe. It's just a black and red shoe, according to the movie. There's a scene where Damon's character makes a speech for Michael Jordan to convince him to sign the deal. It's meant to evoke emotion instead it just falls flat and is manipulative. In short, for a film with a predictable outcome, they tell it like the ending will surprise the audience. Bizarre.
