True to the spirit of the original film, "Monsters Inc.", and matches its tone. But it never seems content to turn over old ground.

Monsters University aces a two-part test—first, appealing to kids with gorgeous, hyperrealistic animation that teases out every pink hair on a beastly art student; then luring in parents with several knowing jokes about strumming your guitar on the quad or playing beer pong.

Was skeptical about a sequel because there's a trend of them not being as good as the original, but somehow, they pull it off flawlessly, I'd even go as far as to say this one is better than the first in a lot of ways.

The ending takes an unfortunate detour that stretches the running time, but this is still quality Pixar work.

What hasn't advanced is the plotting, which was nothing special last time and is so formulaic now that it's basically surprise-free.

As a piece of summer entertainment, this strenuously upbeat prequel to Pixar's "Monsters, Inc." passes with vibrant colors and will, of course, excel at the box office...But as an offering from Pixar, the studio that set the platinum standard for contemporary animated features, it's an awful disappointment — and one more reason to worry about Pixar's future under Disney ownership.

The animation is snappy in the way it handles an extremely eclectic-looking bunch of monsters. The 3-D effects are nifty but, as with so much about "MU," not necessary.

What Monsters University fails to do, though, is to scare up any real emotion.

Masterpiece. I've watched this movie more than 3x within a Decade and that is a good sign.
Watching this for the first time you might think that it's okay, but when you watch it again you'll find out a lot is hidden emotionally. This movie resonated with me, and it can make you cry after a rewatch when you understand how these characters truly feel. Not only does it do respect to the Monster. Inc film makes the original film even more impactful, and to me, that is a 10/10 Animation. This is probably one of the few films that Pixar has made that retains that Pixarness-If you know what I mean. This film is great for families, children and Adults...Even my 50 year old Father was laughing and he rarely likes animations. 10/10, This is Pixar before they tripped over a little. Also Kudos to the Music man Randy and the directors, Writers and Everyone who helped to make this film, It's Truly a Family Classic Lost in **** even Disney doesn't Know what to do with Monsters anymore, they've just abandoned the Idea.

Ortalama ve üstü bir yapım. İlk izlediğim kadar keyifli gelmedi tabi ama keyifliydi...

Cute, inoffensive family fare; it's nice to get back in touch with two of my favorite Pixar characters, but this film is so light, airy and spacious I couldn't help wondering if we all might have been better served by a short featurette. Most of the returning secondary cast is relegated to brief cameos - particularly Steve Buscemi's serpentine villain Randall, who pops in and out in a set of very brief flashes - and their replacements generally play one note at best. In its heart, Monsters U is dying to mimic the kind of campus-friendly formula perfected by Animal House and Revenge of the Nerds, but it's kneecapped by a much younger target audience and the cast feels almost entirely shoehorned into unfamiliar terrain. It enjoys some lively moments and a few solid laughs, plus the banter between Goodman and Crystal is as sharp as ever, but the scope feels much, much smaller than the preceding Monsters Inc. and the story never really shifts out of first gear.

For a studio that made its name with storytelling strong enough for parents to enjoy, it's almost shocking to see something as trivial as a "big game" as the movie's centerpiece. Monster's University's story barely qualifies as a Disney Junior Original, never mind a Pixar product.

As much I loved Monsterc Inc. , I couldn't enjoy this prequel at all. Maybe it's entertaining for babies, I don't know, but the plot was non-existent and I could not find a single truly funny joke either. It's one of those movie which were obviously only created because the first one was a success and they wanted to make more money despite the fact that they did not have a single idea for a new movie. Don't watch this just because you liked the first one, you probably won't like this one.
