The great continuation of the renowned original. All the aspects that made Hades the greatest game of that year for me, made their appearance in the sequel. Music, artstyle, remarkable characters and intriguing plot surround magnificent gameplay. There is not much to add, simply a well executed game in all the ways!
One of the most anticipated games took too long... We anticipated mostly the same gameplay but with some improvements and new content, and got exactly that, but what is a problem? First of all, all aspects of the game are perfectly polished. Fights are challenging enough and platforming sections demand a lot of precision. However, the main problem sounds like “it’s too much”. The game is too long and too full of enemies and bosses, but there is not enough gameplay variety to keep players occupied and entertained for such a long time. I have played for 70+ hours, and honestly, the last 15 were just repetition of the same actions hoping that it will end soon. To sum up, the game itself is great, but it should be like 50 hours or less, because there is not enough depth in the combat system to keep fights interesting. The best way to experience the game is to completely finish the first two acts, and on the third one just rush to the end to cut time as much as possible.
I had huge expectations from this game judging by its trailers and overall press reviews. In reality, the story, artstyle and main flights are really worthwhile to play. However, at the same time, all other parts of the game between main events are deadly boring. Really, who would want to go collect weeds or kill a pack of monsters just because it bothers local people and brings no interesting story or characters. The fight system is also a questionable element, it is too simple to be a slasher and too fast to be reaction-oriented.
One of the hits of 2025, but what is all the hype about? Well, first of all there is a unique artstyle and marvelous musical themes. However, besides pleasant art and music there is also a fabulous story and characters. There are some unexpected plot turns, but they are not made just for the sake of it, rather it feels like all should have come to this. So for me it is one of the best stories since BG3. Speaking of gameplay it is rather familiar for the JRPG genre with some new additions, but closer to the end fights get a bit boring and somewhat repetitive. Also there are some minor bugs and visual glitches, which does not spoil the game that much but should be mentioned.
A lot could have been changed for the better. First of all, the idea of instant death when a character collider becomes stuck between two others looks insane. Just push it to the side and deal damage instead of this. Another problem is boss fights. There is no balance between them, while one requires several tries and complex actions, others possess no challenge whatsoever. On the other side all of the other aspects of the game correlates well with the initial Sonic gameplay. As well as music and visuals which are remarkably fabulous.
So here we have a continuation of the long living franchise. Visual style, music and gameplay stands up to its name and makes a step forward. Fights are more challenging and each hero has a set of skills designed for it. Puzzles and boss fights are challenging enough to make you think, but not to the extent of going to watch a walkthrough. The only thing that is a miss is the story and characters. It's just there and I am sure that in a couple months I will not remember anything from it.
This game goes in a stark difference with most of the modern RPG and actually gives the player a choice. Since BG3 there were not a lot of games that actually pay attention to player’s actions and provide different outcomes. Here you can make a choice in a side quest in the beginning of the game and find out its outcome only at the very end. What is more, there is a fluent combat system that allows switching between spellcasting , heavy warrior and sharpshooter styles with ease. Side characters are remarkable as well as the world around them. However, I absolutely must mention that the local levels system is havely number based and depends completely from crafting and improving your gear, which is a turnover for me. Also, the main plot is not as intriguing as companion’s stories and in this case the real treasure was the friends we made along the way.
Changing lives is a bit of a saying that has almost nothing beneath it. There are some differences in a storyline depending on the **** you make, but they are so minor that I would not call it decision making. Visuals and music are great, but again not very remarkable. Overall, it is a great game, but not the one to be remembered long after.
Have not played this genre of games before and this one showed how much I was missing. Interesting unique characters that not only allow for different types of gameplay but evoke the whole new approach when used in combination make it possible to execute the same task in hundreds of different ways. Level design makes it possible to walk in the same places with a great interest and just a turn of camera can show a whole bunch of new opportunities. Visuals and sound are also on a high level! So, despite some minor issues this game is a must play especially for a newbees of this genre.
Really great game for a couple evenings. It has all you might ask of this genre. Pleasant visuals, interesting puzzles, universal funny humor and much more. I think this is a perfect game for returning to the old adventure genre and reminding yourself why it was so popular and how it still has something new to give.
It’s a shame the older games are unavailable on PC because now I want to know the whole story. Besides the excellent fight system there are deep characters with tragic but empowering stories. And overall this game has almost no flaws. The only one that annoyed me is evertalking characters when I try to solve a puzzle. I understand it might be hard for some players, but give me at least one minute to think on my own!
Do not play this game for the sake of visuals! The best way to enjoy this game is purely via screenshots. There is nothing to see but several scenes. Gameplay itself is horrible in the worst way possible. Shooting feels awful, puzzles are too simple and have no growth in complexity. Even death takes too long! I completely understand the idea of a powerless protagonist and its misery compared to a hostile world, but not at such a degree. Therefore, observing screenshots is the best way to enjoy this game.
All in this game about cards. So, if you like card games you can find very interesting patterns of gameplay and somewhat complex systems. However, this game has not much to show but cards. Story, visuals and other aspects of the game either will be pleasing for you or be a burden that makes no effect on overall experience. The game itself is not bad, but has not much to offer but iteration of the same system for a long time.
The continuation of the story of Cal Kestis has its pros and cons. First thing to mention is that I played it when most of the bugs and optimization problems were already fixed. So, speaking about the fighting system, it is as great as the previous one. There were some changes but it remains globally the same with minor improvements and logical enlargement. Exploration also played a huge part in the last game as well as in this one and I felt really curious about all the hidden paths and small lore pieces. On the other hand now we have a bunch of useless additional stuff like plants, fish, cosmetics and so on, which is only interesting for 100% playthrough. On the other hand, the plot and characters are mediocre to bad. It feels more like a number of tasks with some talking dummies than a complete story with drama and remarkable moments.
Aesthetic part of the game is made at the top level. All these small cute animations make every interaction unique and pleasant to do. On the other hand each part of gameplay is shallow and does not allow for great replayability. For example, the rogue mechanic is not flexible and large enough to create builds and try something new, you just get what you get and each run looks like a previous one. The base building is very entertaining for the first 14-16 hours and then becomes more of a burden. Overall, this is a great game, but if you want clear rouge or base building experience there are better alternatives with a greater balance and depth. However, I enjoyed it and got that long forgotten feeling of “just one more run, just one more improvement”.
The story and visuals are peak! I cannot possibly imagine how much work has been put into making the picture look so good and be stable even on weak systems. Characters are played well and coexisting of in-game cutscenes and real-life segments is really up to place. Some of the segments gave me more emotions than the whole other games, and the sound is just marvelous! I just can’t wait to see how the story continues and I WANT MORE!!
The only thing that aged really well is the sound. Music and sound design really make this game remarkable and still pleasant to listen to even now. All the other aspects of the game remain in their time. The fact that the player has to replay the whole level from the beginning after a singly badly calculated jump talks for itself. However, the main problem is the camera that not only does not give a proper view of the situation, but affects the character controls and sometimes makes it very hard to execute what you have in mind. The levels are good though and the best part of it is that some of them could be completely skipped and 100% is unnecessary to complete the game. Many people complain about swimming and flying and I agree with them, but not because of the control but because of the camera that shows everything but the desired direction.
From the main gameplay part I have no complaints or negative notes. Fight feels pleasant and while platforming, the character does exactly what I want him to do. Some minor notes are related to some enemies who are really annoying, and there is an insane amount of text in notes, which are kind of boring to read.
The only reason to play this game is aesthetics. All the other parts of the game are a mess. Fights feel unresponsive and even bosses are more annoying than challenging, characters and the story are also weird in a bad way. Technical problems and poor game design also does no favor to the final verdict.
As a storyteller this game is really well made. There are some interesting characters and the will to learn something about them dictated not by gameplay but by pure interest in their personality. Moreover, some important and difficult problems are observed, which makes you think about different stuff… However, some music does not fit to what is going on in the gameplay, like the electronic sound of ?acoustic guitar? , and the technical part is unpolished and has some bugs here and there.
This game is about shooting and every aspect follows it. Each weapon has its own feel and every single one of them can be used with pleasure, which is kind of rare for modern games. Skiing is also made surprisingly well and moving around huge open spaces is very satisfying. However, I have to notice that ally AI is not the brightest and the second act takes too long.
Art and music is something that follows you for the whole game and can surprise you with its beauty. As well as the story which has so many unexpected turns that some new locations might feel like from the other universe. On the other hand, the problem comes from the rather generic characters and fight system that have not enough complexity for such a long game.
This game might not be the biggest one I ever played but it was worth every second of time I spent on it. Story, characters and their development is riveting to the very end. Moreover, the gameplay, and levels are so well made that it is just so pleasant to be in this world and search for every little collectible and piece of lore. In addition, they even managed to make the triggers of the xbox controller work similar to PS’s!
It is a DnD but well designed and digital. If someone asks me what RPG is, I’ll just show them this game. Insane variability, intriguing story and marvelous characters makes this game a one of a kind masterpiece. I could have said that the fight system gets boring after some time, but it happens after 150 hours and might not be true.
It is a legend of its own time. Nowadays, playing this relic of the past is a task that requires a lot of effort. Visuals even are not such a problem as old-fashioned game design. I just have to notice that modern games have solved some of the old problems, but at the same time they created different types of thinking which makes playing old games difficult. The only thing that remained perfect is the OST and sound design.
There is an interesting story and the way this story is presented. Some abilities are interesting and some ideas look fresh. However, the game itself is ok and most of the time resembles many others. And what is the idea with the final fight, which is REALLY hard and breaks everything we were learning for the whole game?
Every aspect of the game is made to perfection. I don't even know what to add, it is just a perfect game as the previous big part. One minor thing that I have noticed is that exploring the ground level is less interesting due to the fact that it is mostly the same as in the previous part and movement is mostly defined by flights which gives a different pace and does not work as well for me.
First thing to mention is that I have not played the first two parts of the series and it is a miss that took away some pleasure from the story. Nevertheless, I was able to enjoy the characters and part of the story that is told. Moreover, there is a major improvement in an open world and economics system. Now fighting enemies and collecting resources is essential for improvement and this is what I needed in a main game. On the other hand due to the narrative, now the fighting system is not so variable and gets boring closer to the end. The situation gets worse the moment when you have to do all the side quests to level up and move forward. I know that it is a typical part of JRPGs but the main game showed to be better without it.
Going fast is the most pleasant thing in this game and there is nothing similar in any other game. As soon as you get the maximum amount of rings and rush at full speed somewhere, the game shines and the flow state in this moment is immaculate. Music also plays a role and makes all the boss fights feel epic. However, this works for the first two islands and then things go dull. The core gameplay loop repeats itself and soon enough gets boring and looks more like an obstacle rather than an interesting challenge. Some bugs, glitches and unpolished parts are included.
The game that became a cult for many. But is it well deserved? First of all, I have to mention that the story and the characters are great and deep. To understand everything several playthroughs would be needed and if you enjoyed it so far, I would definitely recommend doing so. Moreover, interaction between characters not only adds a new layer of gameplay, but plays an important role as a narrative. However, there is a huge problem and it is in the very gameplay. At first fights seem interesting and new mechanics are introduced for some time, but 10 hours in, it gets really boring. Animation of the actions takes too long and if you are able to find a strategy that works for you, the only thing you would want is to make it fast but the game forces you to go slow.
As a story and the characters this could be the best on the market. It tells the story and engages from the start till the very end. Emotion, which is a main theme of the game, depicted really well and could make anyone understand better what is inside every person. On the negative side, there are some optimisation troubles and an unformed visual style. It feels like there are multiple artists and all of them want to make a good game, but they lack cooperation. Therefore, if you are searching for a good story and do not mind some visual discomfort it will be one you enjoy.
The core of the game is one of the best made in the industry. Shooting and enemy AI is an excellent example of how it should be done! Each weapon feels unique and the enemy could surprise by their cooperation and way of combat. However, there is an open world that breaks everything. It is empty and the only reason for its existence is a tag to add on the front page in the store. This game could be much better if it was linear with more of its core gameplay.
It is an interesting game with multiple little riddles to find. All the systems are kind of generic and there are very few new and interesting ideas. Moreover, recently I have watched a developer's speech on GDC that goes deep into the game content and, truth to be told, I did not get it while playing. I mean that if you are interested in solving riddles and searching for every small detail then this game is must played, but I am not such kind of a person to spend on a such small game too much time.
Very solid representation of the magical world. All the little details and overall visuals make this world feel truly alive. It is just pleasant to be there, interact with cute animals and solve puzzles. FIghting system is also diverse enough to not get boring till the very end. I mean there is no need in hundreds for spells, if there are some amount but well integrated into gameplay. However, there is a major issue that shutters immersion. Dialogs and lack of response from the game world. It does not take into account what you are doing and what you have done, so it’s more like a painting that is good to look at while you do not touch it.
Surprisingly one of the best FPS I ever played. Shooting feels responsible and every weapon has its unique feeling while shooting. Movement and platforming are also surprisingly well made. The closest game that was able to make something similar was last Doom. Characters are also remarkable and iconic voices make their personality even better. I cannot help but mention that this game has a very specific humor that is integrated in the game process and therefore the final experience will be mainly defined by your personal sense of humor.
It is not a bad game, but now it’s not enough. There is no such atmosphere like in the first part and without it the game just does not feel as it should. Maybe it’s the visuals or the sound, but it lost what it had. Overall, it’s just a kinda ok game and the same as any other kinda ok games.
The most unexpected release of that year! It comes out of blue and shows how games should be made. Fights are impeccable and everything supports that idea. Those little elements like flickering lights and hi-hats when dashing gives so much pleasure just from interacting with this game. Artstyle and characters are also a great pleasure to look at. Some of them might be simple but their charisma is just overwhelming. However, I have noted some unpleasant small details that are simple to fix, but I have to point it out. Some cutscenes are unskippable and seated just before the difficult fight which is just annoying and takes too much time. And the platforming is not really good, but the game is not about it, so let it be.
I need more! The plot has all you can ask for from an overall good story to completely unexpected turns. Characters are interesting and their development could be noticed throughout the gameplay. But the game itself is too short to tell the whole story and deepen the characters. Overall, it is a great game with a short but great story.
Since it is a genre which heavily relies on the characters and the story it is its strongest side. Combination of scenes and different types of gameplay creates insanely good pacing. It has a great story and most of its parts could be replayed with completely different outcomes. However, the Kara line is extremely linear and some storylines end without a proper outcome and showing no final effect of our actions.
Despite many retries the flow state does not leave for the whole game. Combination of visuals, music and gameplay emerges into story and missions which makes it feel like a whole. On the negative side I might notice a stealth mechanic that is added and used only in two missions which results in breaking the overall mood of the game and makes you stop when you want to rush forward.
It is a perfect platformer. I don't even know what to add. Everything works as it should and it is more than enough to be an excellent game. When you fail, you know that it is completely your fault which motivates you to try again and again and again…
It is a masterpiece. I don’t know if it is the case with every JRPG, but for me it was an eye opening experience. Like it is an anime, but a game! The characters are so well done that you keep remembering them even long after the end. And the story… Other aspects are also made to perfection to some insane level. Battle system might look dull, but wait, here goes one mechanic and another and another till the very end! The world itself also feels alive and interesting to explore. The only bad thing that I could mention is the wrong platform, like the game of this scale should be on much more moverfull systems to unleash its full potential. And the economic system is broken, but I have not used it so let it be.
At first glance you can say that this is a game not for everyone. Nonetheless, with me it was not the case and I managed to pass the first 3-4 hours and it got really good. The more you explore the city and people who live in it, the more you get interested. Every character is well written and has a background story to share. The main plot is also intriguing till the very end and can surprise even after. The only thing that bothered me is a map, which exists but it is barely any useful.
The only good thing that i can say about this game is its level art. All the other aspects are screwed up. Characters and the story are written really badly and some actions only raise questions and the question “Are they that stupid?”. Level design is also awful from the invisible walls to episodes that are literally unplayable. Overall, I would rather replay the first part…
The best interpretation of its genre. The fact that death is integrated into narrative makes all the difference. In contrast to any other game, losing is a real part of the process and sometimes you just want to return back to the hub to hear what other characters have new to say. Moreover, the gameplay is also highly addictive due to its variety and good balance. Story and the characters are marvelous and it is really interesting to know them better. Only negative aspect that I have noticed is that the weapons are not all well balanced, or maybe it’s just me.
It has the most interesting mechanics and the pace that keeps me interested than in any other game. The story also combines not only an interesting turn of events but the gameplay as well. Moreover, I found a lot of easter eggs here and there which itself is simple but pleasant. Nonetheless, I have to mention that the characters are really simple and dull. Overall, it is the most unique game I have ever played.
The very idea of the game is great. The representation of inventory feels fresh as well as the combination of two different genres of gameplay. On the other hand, it causes multiple problems like the simplicity of the core mechanics. Fight and the shop management quite soon becomes routine and brings very little pleasure closer to the end of the game.
It is a game of its time and overall is not so bad nowadays. However, the lack of time and budget are really noticeable in some parts and when you try to play it today, it feels old and has some weak points.
There is an interesting lore and the world is interesting to explore. Platforming is also fine and has some fresh ideas in it. However, the battle system is a mess and it is impossible to remember all the quests you take throughout the game. And overall, exploration is messed up with an overall speed of gameplay which is too slow. If not for the world, I would not recommend anyone to play.
It’s much better than a film franchise and by a lot. The characters are well written and always have something to say. The story is huge and all its parts from the premise to the final part are completely satisfying. Even the fight system might seem rather simple, but it figures that it is kinda fun and does not get boring till the very end. For anyone who likes this franchise or someone who is searching for the starting point this game is a MUST play!
