I wasn’t sure what to expect with this movie going in. I’d heard it was captivating and the performances were brilliant but beyond that, nothing. Well, now that I have seen it I can confirm it was amazing. Only four actors, one set piece of the apartment and four very talented actors who gave incredible performances. The characters were human, flawed, relatable, offensive and searching to connections…so like many people we all know. I highly recommend this film.

After the relaunch in 2021 I had great hopes. But this movie was a huge disappointment. It all seemed to be shot on a soundstage instead of outside / on location like the 2021 film. Also, there was way too much focus on Johnny Cage that made the characters we loved from the relaunch just window dressing. And in my opinion Karl Urban was way too old for this role and the entire film it just seemed like he was playing his character Butcher, from the boys.

It was beautifully written and the animation was top notch. My rating is primarily because it was a Jessie focused story - finally - and the great Joan Cusack’s voice acting was top notch. This movie was also so much better than Toy Story 4, which just seemed like a cash grab. All of that being said, this franchise should have ended after Toy Story 3 - which was close to perfection. I saw it. I’m glad I saw it. Kids loved it. It was high quality. I just seemed like we are starting to repeat ourselves with these movies. And I want to keep these movies precious and unique.

This movie is so bad, like badly made, cheaply made with bad sets and poor acting. The story could have been great, but even that was lost with the hodgepodge of killing and characters that had no development or even had a moment that made the audience remotely like them. After the very entertaining Evil Dead Rise, this movie was such a disappointment. First of all there was no consistency in the story and the “home” of a prosperous family looked like it was abandoned years ago and looked like an adondoned farm house in rural Kansas. I just don’t know how this movie script was even greenlit. So bad…bad acting, bad script, badly directed. What a complete waste. And the bonus scenes don’t even make any sense. “Let’s just throw these in because we know the movie ****”

It was colorful and charming and had its moments, but honestly I was thinking what it the point? Was this a remake that had to be made? Especially right after Moana 2 was just out in the theaters a couple years ago? This seems like a cash grab to me. The kids will love it because it’s the same story as the animated film and that will allow them to enjoy it without any uncertainty. But it’s not worth seeing several times and will most likely be on Disney plus in weeks. If you want a couple of hours of distraction for your kids, go and see it.

Weak script with an annoying young sidekick that was more unhelpful than entertaining. And although the lead actress was amazing in her role as supergirl, she never seemed as super as her cousin. The real story should have been between Kara and Krypto, but it went a different way. And I say this as a very woke, very liberal man… it’s just not a very good movie. I loved how Superman made you believe in good and justice, this movie just leaves you with nothing. How this script was approved by James Gunn is the real mystery that needs answers.

It was fine. Like a glorious episode of the show, but longer. The first half where the empire is the foe was much stronger and exciting, but once we got to the Hutt swamp it started getting monotonous and overly long. Also, just confit, Grogu’s power levels, please. At the opening he is barely sliding a bowl of food across the table and at the end he is levitating a fully grown Hutt. Not a bad film, but not a good one either. It was fine.

There are some real great things about this installment of Scream - the return of a Sidney, the inclusion of Chad and Mindy from the last two Scream movies, the opening sequence, the actress who plays Tatum, Joel McHale as Sidney’s husband - who gives the strongest performance in the movie - and the return / entrance of Gale was so awesome the audience screamed and applauded. All of that being said, the killer reveal doesn’t really hit with any impact and the killer(s)? was / were pretty easy to identify. Also the use of technology - no spoilers - didn’t really work for me. All in all a solid entry with some amazing horror scenes with a somewhat weak ending. Worth seeing on the big screen.

And the ending…seriously? WTF. Whatever studio exec read this ending and said - looks good let’s do it - should be fired.

First of all, this movie is very long…actually, it’s way too long for the story. I went into the movie with high hopes but it felt like a retread of the second one with elements from the original movie. It was plodding and long winded in the storytelling, it needed a script editor before it was filmed. I don’t see how it moved the overall story of the attempted conquest of the world forward. I wanted to love this movie, but it just dragged on in places and felt like it was an a filler movie until the ultimate finale. For the love of the future movies, tighten up the script and plot and make it more focused on a story and the family.

This is a good, solid movie that does have some pacing issues and some weaker songs than the first movie. The new songs are okay, but nothing spectacular. However, the last 45 minutes are a tour de force of action and acting and the climatic “For Good”. Cynthia and Ariana are superb and make the most of their screen time. And a special shout-out to Jonathan Bailey who really owns the screen this time around. Not as good as the first, but a solid sequel.

I am not sure how to feel about this movie. It didn’t have the intensity of the first one but it had more scope and breadth than the second one. I find it hard to believe that no other nation would attempt to exterminate the zombies from the air or using drones. For me, the best scenes were those with the young army troop and the final soldier. Those showed real terror and tension while the other wandering of people on the island seemed stupid and lacking of any survival instinct. Why wouldn’t the UN air drop to these pockets of humans? But the worst part was the Kung fu ending with the band of merry fighters trying to Kungfu panda their way through a hoard of zombies. Really? WTH.

And Candy, the young niece who lost her parents in the first movie somehow has become a genius robotics developer while still in middle school? Come on. What a complete cluster. During my screening people were actually leaving in the middle of the film. The team dynamic doesn’t appear to be here and it’s very much focused on Ethan, which isn’t bad, but it takes away from the other characters having their own stories. It is also way too long, at one point in the submarine scene my nephew actually said “we get it, it’s a long swim and things float by, find the code already” and I agreed with him. So there is a lot of negative energy around this film…the problems of its star Ezra Miller, the fact that the actors who originated the roles are all scrapped by the new bosses at DC and an overall “why should I go and see it if it will lead to nothing”. That being said, I did go and see it. The first 20 minutes were great…Ben Affleck as Batman was awesome, Gal Gator as Wonder Woman was great in her brief cameo. Then it all kind of goes to hell without any real reason or direction. There are some cool scenes but overall it just felt like an overly long movie with no real story to tell.
