Practical Magic 2

When it comes to conjuring the Owens back on the big screen, Bullock and Kidman have already done the hard part. So, live a little! And let yourself fall for “Practical Magic” like you’ve never been hurt before.

It’s not going to bewitch audiences for decades to come, but Practical Magic 2 is still a cosy flick that puts sisterhood at its heart.

Despite all the talent, and sincere and even affecting themes about family and love, the film is rife with plot holes that undermine the story to the point of distraction.

There’s enough here likely to please fans of the original, and there’s no denying that it’s a treat to see Kidman and Bullock onscreen together, even if the movie is in denial about how much time has passed since the original.

If you love Sandy and Nic, maybe it will be enough to watch them do anything. I would have preferred a good script as well.

For the most part, though, it’s an eminently forgettable product that is more interested in rehashing the first film’s familiar bits than in giving viewers any new ones of note.

Even if Practical Magic was a beloved part of your childhood, it’s hard to see what would excite you about this sequel. Bier’s addition to the franchise is as bizarrely paced as the original and significantly less charming.

It was actually surprisingly enjoyable and fun. A touch too long - especially felt like the last 20 minutes really dragged on. Other than that, I thought they did a good job connecting what fans liked from the original, while also brining it into the 2020s. Kidman was my favourite part - who'd have thought she'd be the comedic relief in a film next to Sandra Bullock!!

Boa continuação do filme clássico dos anos 90. O primeiro filme tem um ar mais divertido e descontraído, esse já é mais sentimental e emocionante. As cenas das tias Jet e Franny são as melhores, o carisma delas é essencial pro desenvolvimento da Sally e Gillian em ambos os filmes. Inclusive elas voltam com as personalidades intactas, o que é divertido de se ver pois elas tem uma irmandade muito forte. O problema do filme são as filhas, a trama é focada na mais velha porém é mal desenvolvida, e a mais nova é escanteada. Além do plot, da Maldição Owens, ser bem forçado e ter um antagonista clichê esquecível.

Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman, one would think it would be a great show. How can they talk without saying anything, but this is where we are. If you like Coronation Street or EastEnders, you might like it.

Even though I don’t remember much about the 1998 original, I’m pretty sure it was more upbeat. Sandra Bullock & Nicole Kidman are back playing sisters with Bullock’s character also having 2 daughters (Joey King and Maisie Williams). When one of them falls in love, it revives an ancient curse that kills anyone that the witches fall in love with. Thus begins the journey to quell the curse. The film starts on a somber note and never gets any lighter. It’s much more earnest, full of “heartfelt” emotions and never-ending discussion about their loveless plight. Even the magic elements are minimal until the climatic scenes, which aren’t remotely exciting or wondrous. The focus is much more about sisterhood and love than having any fun with their powers, which makes it pretty much a yawn.

I so wanted to like this movie but it was a complete mess. Poor script. No character development and a complete loss of what made the original movie so touching and fun. Nicole Kidman is so wasted here with absolutely nothing to do and Sandra Bullock sounds like she ad libbed half of her lines. The plot is ludicrous and the fact that they had to go to England for resolution and leave their home makes the audience lose the connection to their home and hearth. So sad
