Harpoons have never been more terrifying than they are here, and Robinson and Lansky expand Williamson’s once quaint universe so dramatically that it can be shockingly hard to see the Fisherman coming.

If genre fans will always know what it’s up to, that’s just another way it pays faithful homage to its by-the-numbers precursors.

I'm shocked to be writing this but this was actually the first film I've properly enjoyed for quite a while! It's incredibly cheesy, but in that classic 90s teen slasher kind of way that actually works. The original was a naff knock off of Scream anyway, and this works in the same way that Scream 5 did - it's not trying to be any more than what it is. The most pointless characters are dispatched quickly which gives you time to get invested in the leads before anything bad happens to them. There's some amusing call backs to the original including a cool cameo from Sarah Michelle Gellar (who's been de-aged really well, considering the low budget). And it ignores the poor direct-to-video third movie and the TV show. And unlike the latest Scream movies, people don't get up and run around with multiple injuries after being sliced like butter - the violence is more realistic. There's a quite hilarious girl-on-girl scene which screams "90s" because it's basically two hot girls going at it in a toilet. It's absolutely not going to win any awards and will probably be forgotten in years to come because it's just another Sony reboot of one of their old hits, like the Flatliners one from 2017 (but much better). Also the "last summer" incident in this one is strange as they didn't really do anything wrong? But it is VERY good fun to watch at the cinema and I'm glad I went to see it.

There’s a fun slasher buried beneath the too-faithful reboot plot of the new I Know What You Did Last Summer. Unfortunately, it’s overshadowed by too many callbacks to the first movie in the series and too little originality. The mix of new stars and returning favorites provides some urgency, but does little to give it an identity all its own.

I Know What You Did Last Summer is a lazy retread of an already mediocre horror film, with only brief flashes of promise peppered between kills.

Fortunately, Prinze Jr. and Hewitt are on hand to provide some much-needed gravitas to the proceedings (which is not a sentence I ever envisioned writing). Both are in excellent form, providing connective tissue to the original film and its sequel.

Not scary enough to thrill, funny enough to charm, or clever enough to convince, I Know What You Did Last Summer isn’t just forgettable. It’s actively irritating.

A tight, fast paced slasher that has a good balance of screentime for the legacy characters and the new characters. it is sure to satisfy the older generation that grew up with the original trilogy as well as Gen-Z. Just as long as they stream the original before heading to the theater. Because it does have certain elements that would be confusing to those who haven't seen the first one.

I Know What You Did Last Summer holds up as a solid, suspense-driven **** film benefits from its connection to the original, and I’d strongly recommend revisiting the 1997 version beforehand, as many of its callbacks add depth to the experience. Rather than relying purely on horror, the movie leans into tension and atmosphere, favoring suspense over outright scares. While it may not redefine the genre, it remains an engaging thriller that’s worth the watch.

Loved It, Loved The Characters, Cast and Acting and Brutality, The Act 3 Is Kind of Where it Falls Out. but eitherway a good legacy Sequel

I Know What You Did Last Summer cements itself as an unnecessary sequel that is dragged down by terrible characters, forced callbacks and a repetitive plot that fails to hook the audience in any way.

This reboot of the 1997 movie basically replays the original plot. After a group of friends accidentally causes a fatal accident, they’re singled out for revenge by the mysterious killer with a meat hook. One angle of these films is to provide some quick jump scares, which this one does a few times. The other reason is to see the brutal slayings, which are uselessly shot and edited this time, which makes them not at all horrifying. For a meta moment, Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. show up from the original. It helps to have seen that one, because there are references that don’t make sense otherwise. Sadly, this film offers nothing new and even the stuff it does revisit is rather bland. No suspense and no thrills make for a boring summer.
