The Gift is a very creepy movie with great acting from its leads and has an original, jaw-dropping twist ending that left me thinking for days after I left the theater. Kudos to Joel Edgerton for his first time as director. 9/10

Straight Outta Compton is definitely the best biopic of the decade. This is because of it's great script, great acting, and great chemistry between its stars. The performance I was most impressed with was by Ice Cube's son, who played Ice Cube. Paul Giamatti was also good in the film. This movie will definitely (well, I hope) a good amount of Oscars for its great direction

Tom Cruise is back for his 5th entry in the Mission Impossible franchise, and not like most sequels, this one does not disappoint. It exceeded my expectations by a long shot and delivered some incredible action sequences. Not as good as Ghost Protocol, but still a very fun time at the movies

Ant-Man is a pleasant surprise. Not only did it exceed fan expectations but mine as well. Another huge success from Marvel. The movie had many funny moments and action packed scenes with surprisingly good CGI. Not to mention terrific performances from Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas. The only con of Ant-Man is the villain. He's predictable and cliched. But, overall, Ant-Man is another action packed and funny Marvel triumph. 9/10

The Room is considered one of the worst movies of all time. It has horrendous acting, an atrocious script, and god awful cinematography. I gave the movie a 1/10 instead of a 0/10 because it made me laugh from how bad it was sometimes. If it was meant to be this bad, it would get a 10/10. But unfortunately this movie took itself WAY to seriously. It defines "so bad it's good."

Inside Out is a very well done animation that appeals to both kids and adults. It creates a unique take on how the mind works, but probably not the most accurate. But, it's a Pixar movie. Who cares about realism? Inside Out has the 5 base emotions as characters. These characters are Joy, Anger, Sadness, Fear, and Disgust. These characters all have like-able qualities about them and are very rememberable. Inside Out is another example of how Pixar can be extremely creative and adventurous. 9/10

Jurassic World is an incredibly solid thriller. Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) and Owen (Chris Pratt) were well written, and the indominus rex was a very awesome dinosaur and was a fitting antagonist for the movie. The CGI was also very good but there was an over-reliance on it and they could have used animatronics in many places, but the CGI was still very good. If you are a fan of the originals, you should definitely check this one out. 8/10

Mad Max Fury Road is an epic, insane adventure. The first thing to compliment this movie on are the special effects. It is about 95% practical effects which i love and they are well utilized. Not to mention the wide panning shots of the desert. They look astoundingly beautiful. Also, Tom Hardy does a good job at his portrayal of Mad Max because he show's Max's sane and crazy sides perfectly well. However, the characters I loved the most were Imperator Furiosa (Charlize Theron) and Nux (Nicholas Hoult). To say the least, Mad Max Fury Road is an epic and unique action thrill ride.

Tomorrowland surprised me. I thought it would be a run-of-the-mill Disney movie, which I was pleased about. First of all, the CGI is amazing. It blends in with the environment seamlessly and is the most impressive aspect of this movie. Another good thing is George Clooney's character, Frank. He's the most likeable character in this movie and is acted very well. But, unfortunately, the plot is extremely jumbled, which cripples Tomorrowland from being a "great movie."

You're Next really surprised me. I thought it was going to be a run-of-the-mill, cheesy B grade horror movie. But no, it is in its own way original and clever. It is less of a horror movie and more of a dark comedy, like "American Psycho" from 2000. It has a lot of witty dialogue and a new take on the home invasion genre. However, the movie does feel stale at times and the killers aren't creepy enough considering they show their real faces multiple times. Overall, You're Next is a solid, entertaining movie. 7/10

The Wolverine is an above average movie with some awesome action scenes and good CGI. The Wolverine character, especially, is more likeable than ever and has an interesting villian choice. Not the norm in most movies, but his motives were cliched and generic. Another bad part about this movie is the pacing. God it's awful. At one point it can drag on and on but at another point it can speed up really quickly! But the pros overall outweigh the cons. All and all, Wolverine is a solid action flick. 7/10

Batman & Robin

User ScoreBB_Critic
May 4, 2015
Batman and Robin is directed by Joel Schumacher and stars George Clooney, Chris O'Donnel, Uma Therman, and Alicia Silverstone. Batman and Robin has a reputation for being one of the worst movies ever made next to the Room and Plan 9 from outer space. It took the character of Batman and changed him to a overly cheesy one. Speaking of cheesy, that's exactly what the acting is like. The acting is if you took Adam Sandler and multiplied it by 1,000. The movie is overly silly and is to campy, especially from what Tim Burton's Batman showed us. If this were a comedy, this movie would get a 10/10. But unfortunately, that is not the case. 1/10

Ender's game is directed by Gavin Hood and stars Asa Butterfield, Harrison Ford, and Ben Kingsley. This movie is based on the book, Ender's Game. The plot involves a young boy named Ender Wiggin (Asa Butterfield) who is asked to participate in a Battle School to train him for the real enemies, which are called the Buggers. I personally disliked this film because of it's awful fast-pacing and it's sub-par acting, and the fact that the ending did not make any sense what-so-ever. I am the kind of person who looks deeper into the logic of movies, so if you are the kind of person who can shut their brain off and watch a movie, then you will probably enjoy Ender's Game. By itself, Enders game is an "eh" movie but as a movie adaptation to a book it is just horrible. 4/10

Super Size Me is directed by Morgan Spurlock and stars Morgan Spurlock. This documentary is about a man named Morgan Spurlock who conducts an experiment which is to eat McDonald's for a month for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The pace of this documentary is jumbled because bits about how McDonald's is bad for you pop up randomly throughout it. On the bright side, it shows how fast food consumption can destroy the body of any human being. This is a truly disturbing documentary, but a pretty good one at that. 7/10

Most people have issues with this movie because it is "racist." It is not racist it is true. Unfortunately, at the time a lot of middle eastern people were members of Al Qaeda. I, however, found the movie moving and emotional. This movie is not overrated, it is a Clint Eastwood masterpiece. 9/10

Whiplash is a fantastic and darkly comic drama about a drummer who wants to be "one of the greats." The only thing in his way is his extremely strict and overly mean music instructor, Terence Fletcher (J.K. Simmons). J. Jonah. Jameson pales in comparison when it comes to mean-ness. Throughout the whole movie I was entertained, yet disturbed because of how incredibly mean this music instructor is, but that doesn't stop the young drummer, Andrew Neyman (Miles Teller) from exceeding everyone's expectations. Furious 7 starts out with promise with a good setup for Vin Diesel's character and all the other characters, but immediately lets me down with its generic villain and generic action sequences. Very few times in the movie did I enjoy it. Many times I wanted to scream at the screen because of the ridiculous physics rules in the movie that don't make sense. But the movie's saving grace is with it's tear jerking ending. Furious 7 is not good movie on it's own, but is a good sendoff for paul walker 5/10
