Terminator Genisys fires on all action cylinders when director Alan Taylor (Thor: The Dark World) follows the model James Cameron set in the first two films, still the glory of the series.

Terminator Genisys is a reasonably entertaining and niftily executed sci-fi action-thriller, and yet its ingenuity and craftsmanship are all in service of justifying its existence, resulting in a sequel that can be appreciated for its cleverness but otherwise regarded with a certain amount of ambivalence.

I have no idea how I missed this one - this is my favorite terminator movie now, with a logical and consistent script, stellar acting (Emilia Clarke is fabulous, it's a shame she left the franchise, and Arnold Schwarzenegger has ample screen time and dials in a splendid performance). I am confused about why this one of all the Terminator sequels apparently didn't do well at the box office, especially because not doing well at the box office apparently applies to the highest grossing movie in the series? The only thing not perfect about this movie is that the planned sequels were cancelled, and given how much I enjoyed it, I would have loved to see those.

Interesting and dynamic story with great characters but some visual effects is not so great.

The best thing in the movie is Schwarzenegger, who delivers the Guardian’s lines with perfect timing and creates an empathetic character, because as we know, nearly all the best movie robots somehow become just a little bit human as time goes on.

Terminator Genisys' ambition overrides sense and depth in the pursuit of a new direction, and then unwittingly proves how little life there is left in this franchise.

The stunts and CGI and attendant action scenes are all simply fine; there’s nothing here with the stark simple power of “The Terminator” or the strong-but-strange brilliant inventions of “Terminator 2.” Instead, it’s all less-than-spectacular “spectacle” and plot convolutions twisting around themselves at the whim of the summer’s least interesting killer artificial intelligence.

Terminator: Genisys is a catastrophic misfire on nearly all counts. It’s only saving grace? 2015 Oscar winner J.K. Simmons (Whiplash) as a Mulder-gone-to-pot-esque cop who believes in these “goddamn time-traveling robots.”

What could anyone have said of the finished film except that it was finished? Terminator Genisys plays like the worst of all outcomes.

Are on metacritic only sadists commenting who want to name good movies as bad out of principle because they are in the position to let their sadistic mind full flow? This is the second movie in 30 minutes that I really liked. My family has a proud and long US family dynasty with family relations to Hollywood itself. When I see within the next 30 minutes another of my favourite movies with negative to moderate reviews then I dig counter terrorist strategies out and accuse metacritic and imodb for hosting the presence of terror networks that want to ruin damn good US movies by negative critics.

A flawed but interesting blend of franchise fan service, blockbuster popcorn spectacle and general sci fi silliness. As many reviewers have said the opening 15-20 minutes is especially well done. Terminator 1 was a horror thriller. T2 was an action phenomenon. Where the Cameron originals had a clear line of focus, this movie sort of throws all the toys at you for a solid 2 hours of mayhem. Thus this film never quite fully develops its own personality beyond 'fan service blockbuster' but it does everything possible to expand from withing that tight constriction of possibilities. An entertaining mess!

Even though I know it's a corny movie, I keep enjoying it everytime I watch it. Must be a guilty pleasure for me or something?

PG-13 rating is the least of Genisys' problems. Making time travel the focus of the story was one of the worst decisions ever made.

Terminator Genisys is as much of a convoluted mess as its title. It's so weird and ridiculous that it almost becomes interesting. However, the lack of heart and the sub par performances leave a lot to be desired.
