This inept 2003 melodrama has become a Rocky Horror-style cult favorite...As someone who's watched more bad movies than you can imagine, I'm mostly immune to the so-bad-it's-good aesthetic, though I can see how, viewed in a theater at midnight after a few drinks, this might conjure up its own hilariously demented reality.

Tommy Wiseau's film oozes sincerity, which is then slathered in a thick coating of oblivious narcissism, and sadly serves as an example that not everyone should follow their bliss...It's the emotional earnestness that places The Room squarely within Susan Sontag's famous definition of pure camp.

You can laugh at lines like: "Hey, everybody, let's go inside and eat some cake"; "Leave your stupid comments in your pocket!"; "Man, I just can't figure women out. Sometimes they're just too smart. Sometimes they're flat out stupid. Other times they're just evil." In Wiseau's worldview, if "The Room" were a woman, she wouldn't be "evil" or "too smart." That leaves "flat-out stupid." The Room marks the writing-directing-acting debut of Tommy Wiseau, who's not just one of the most unusual looking and sounding (with an unidentifiable Eastern European accent) leading men ever to grace the screen, but a narcissist nonpareil whose movie makes Vincent Gallo's "The Brown Bunny" seem the apotheosis of cinematic self-restraint.

That’s the trick to making a cult film. It can’t just be bad, it has to be memorably so, and The Room is.

Absolutely deserves the title of ‘Best Worst Movie of All Time’. An objectively bad movie that will give you so many positive impressions that will remain in your memory for a long time.

I will love this movie and hate it at the same time. Nothing about this film makes sense, the acting, the writing, the directing, and even the green screen effects are terrible. But what i will say though is that if you want to see a film that is so bad it's good, this is it, this masterpiece of garbage is overall highly entertaining for the common man realizing its major flaws. If you want to see a film with a good amount of quality and effort put in, don't see this, but if you want to see something so bad that you can make fun of it throughout the entire running time (with friends or relatives to share with) than this is the perfect movie for you.

One of the worst movies I have ever seen. And that makes it one of the funniest movies I have ever seen. The acting is so wooden. The script so silly. The camera isn't that bad to be honest. The only reason I am not rating this higher, is because there are parts that are so bad they are just horrible. If you are making this movie, watch this movie so that you know that at lest you are doing something right.

A completely artificial and shameless film that is a great insult to the audience! Of course, if we look at this film from a comedic point of view, it is a good film because the whole film is playing like a circus! But I do not think that Tommy Wiseau made this film for the comedy genre because it is quite clear that it is a very weak drama.
