Battleship

Battleship is a sound vessel floating in Hollywood's oil-slick sea of "Transformers" sequels and vampire riffs.

It's no "Das Boot," but Battleship is a boatload of popcorny fun.

Battleship is dopey, preposterous and unintentionally hilarious in all the wrong places, but as directed by Peter Berg, it is also energetic, fast-moving and bracing.

Overlong and underwritten even by the standards of summer f/x extravaganzas, this Battleship will nonetheless float with many on the strength of its boyish, eager-to-please razzle-dazzle.

Miss.

Its endless parade of explosions, battles and general mayhem makes Michael Bay seem like Ingmar Bergman in comparison with Battleship director Peter Berg.

The worst humans-fighting-aliens movie I've ever seen. And I've seen a lot of humans-fighting-aliens movies.

Lots of people attempt to ruin their own and others fun by being 'critics'. Just shut up and enjoy the damn movie. It's got explosions, military/navy stuff, lots of '**** yeah!' moments, lots of CGI. Feels more like a Transformers style of action and I 100% love that. I've seen much worse than this. It's decent. Giving a higher than usual review to offset the smooth brain elitists leaving 1.0 reviews.

Battleship is an example of how you can create a good action movie without having any plot. A classic plot about an alien invasion, not the most star cast and a very fresh predictable plot. And it's all served together with well-staged action scenes. There's literally only action here. Of course, here the absurdity is elevated to the absolute, the battleship museum suddenly still knows how to swim and even shoot. But how cool it looks and most importantly fresh. A movie for one evening, you'll forget the next day. And surprisingly, Rihanna saw in the film, I didn't expect that she was also an actress.

If you like lots of stuff blowing up, as do I, this movie doesn't disappoint. These are not Shakespearean actors, folks. But the film is enjoyable. Just be sure to suspend your disbelief before watching.

It almost felt like something Michael Bay would cook up if he weren't doing any Transformer movies. The story was dumb from the get-go with no depth or substance in it what-so-ever. Liam Neeson was really the only redeeming quality in this overly dumb, Transformers rip-off.
