Your Friends and Neighbors is clever, intense, snarky, and carried by Hamm doing what he does best as an actor. It also keeps Apple TV+'s small-screen streak going strong with one of the streamer's most exciting new shows yet.

Hamm nicely keeps Coop anchored enough for us to stay invested in his well-being, while he shows remarkable chemistry with much of the surrounding cast, particularly Hoon Lee as best friend/business manager Barney and Lena Hall as his troubled sister Ali.

Besides Jon Hamm being a gorgeous person to watch this show was addictive. Fun intelligent and cool. Great entertainment.

I really like this show. Jon Hamm is great and it feels akin to tv made in the early 2010’s such as Hung. A down on his luck divorced dad that spirals, but is also funny. It seems to be moving a bit fast, but curious to see how this season will wrap.

Hamm’s performance in Your Friends & Neighbors is what will keep us watching, as he transforms from a guy who has gotten too big for his britches to a guy who now knows that was the case and is doing something about it.

The Travers Take
A second season refreshes its game with a lively Jon Hamm/James Marsden matchup, but the eat-the-rich plot still goes nowhere.

A good example of a decent enough comedy drama that would have been fine at one series, but because television is insatiable, the show must go on. As such, the second series throws new characters and plot lines into the same milieu and hopes that, once again, a snappy script and good acting will carry the day.

Something about the breaking-bad comedy (which, it should be stressed, Hamm is really good and basically perfectly cast in) isn’t quite clicking.

Has boundless contempt for its characters and their empty lives of not-so-quiet desperation. This would be OK if the satire had bite and wit or the lead character had a single redeeming quality. Instead, Coop is a self-pitying schlub without the brains or moxie to pull himself out of his tailspin.

Pleasant with too many divergences that they leave on the side of the road, including the major plot twist of his becoming a B&E guy. Hamm plays to his strength and we ride along. His sister and friend Barney help but the rest of the characters we don't care about. His attorney should have her license revoked.

The first 5-6 episodes of this shoe is amazing. It's Breaking Bad kind of fun. The main character has a drastic life style change and see hows wasteful and empty his former highfalutin' lifestyle was. Then he figures he'll steal from the morons that he used to be like. Lots of fun twists and turns. Then out of nowhere it turns into a silly who-dunnit drama. Why? Even without that there was a couple things I find frustrating. I hated his (2x) cheating wife and think it would be better if he just found a way to come to terms with their new relationship with her and the kids without getting back together. Basically he just fins a way to deal with his past and move on. There was more chemistry with his burglary partner which is just thrown away for no reason. I basically watched the whole show for the meme and was kind of disappointed with when and where and why is happens.. kind of a throwaway.

Enjoyable, but I'm not sure what it wants to be. Breaking Bad meets, Ozarks meets desperate housewives? It does try to paint some highly unsympathetic characters in a relatable light, but fails. Hamm, is good to great, Munn is solid as is Aimee Carrero. Amanda Peet is given a crap sandwich of a character. She does a good job in terms of performance, but it feels like we're supposed to feel bad for her when she is an awful person.

Typical scene: as Bruce approaches Allison stationary cycling in the gym, he says “What are you doing here?”. This high quality film continues to snowball. Forty minutes to watch spoiled brat adults is a lot to ask. As of right now, this is easily the worst show that Apple produced & is on Apple TV+.

It was an enjoyable show until they felt the need to disrespect the Catholic religion! I will be spreading the news to everyone with ears and eyes NOT to watch this! Why can’t writers respect religion and lay off!!!
