The Weekend Away1

TV dreck of the worst kind. Shallow story, predictable script ticking cliche and "woke" boxes, horrible, hammy acting.

Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan: Ghost War1

Went in with low expectations, but wow, this is so much worse. Not just appalling nonsense, badly written, with all-round ham-fisted acting of unlikeable characters; and I am a fan of John K and Sienna M! But I am afraid it is much worse: Empty calories laced with propaganda poison; toxic slop for the sheep.

Naked propaganda financed by warmongering liars. Do not believe the lies. This is a smear campaign.

Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery9
Dec 26, 2025
The best of the "Knives Out Mystery" series yet. Some really tiny flaws in the story aside, this movie is a wonderfully entertaining accomplishment. Wonderful acting, both humor and mystery, and an evocative setting and script that brings in elements of true redemption to boot. A masterpiece.

Krampus9

Watched it at the recommendation of several friends and was not disappointed. Do not let the negative reviews fool you. This is a funny, scary and ultimately satisfying romp through Christmas lore, family anxieties and the dark side of the holidays.

Serviceable thriller if you are an African-American BLM boomer of a certain cultural mindset. Otherwise, it feels both try-hard and derivative in equal parts. Dialogue, script, music ...all fall apart within minutes. What makes it bearable is the underlying storyline, but Spike Lees has lost this plot. PS: The positive mainstream media reviews are inexcusable. "fo' sho"

Dark and very original. A tight script and excellent acting, and an otherwise well-executed horror mystery. No ideological point-scoring, no weird agendas, just a very fun and scary flick. Kudos.

Rebel Moon Part 2: The Scargiver1
Oct 19, 2025
Bafflingly bad. Derivative, tired slop of the very worst kind. Like eating a rotten Hamburger that never was tasty or healthy to begin with, but now is riddled with mould and parasites.

Rebel Moon Part 1: A Child of Fire2
Oct 19, 2025
An onanistic kitschfest and bombastic dropkick of a movie only children unburdened by taste, intelligence or a sense of humour will be able to enjoy. Brainrot for hoodwinked sheeple.

Honey Don't!2

Not just contrived, not just juvenile, not just try-hard. This snooze-fest is a lot worse: It is sad, flatulent and angry. Like an aged Karen trying to be edgy by being dumb, immoral, ugly, crass and rude. Lame and embarrassing.

Meh. Strip away the ucasual ideological posturing and lame laughs, and little remains of what was always going to be a tough proposition. The decent acting and often well-executed fighting scenes can not save what is an entirely superfluous exercise (if one discounts the money-grab this constitutes).

Great yarn and well told. Understated and seemingly sparse, but very, very rewarding. Well-shot and acted, too. Not a fan of Westerns, but this is a must-see.

Not an entirely terrible movie, and based on a surprsingly good premise. Terribly let down by some odd casting -- especially the AirBnB couple, good grief -- and an ending that makes absolutely zero sense.

The Brutalist2

Should not even have been a tele-movie. What a brutally boring, pretentious old mess, especially the less than mediocre second half. Several people had walked out by that stage already. Deserves no Oscar but several Raspberries. I was close to leaving but decided to sit through it, unfortunately. VERY surprised that this received so much corporate PR praise and mainstream media accolades. Who honestly thinks this bis a decent pic? No one, unless they are politically motivated or as shallow as the facads this director attempts to create. A badly executed, completely made-up account of post-war migration that pretends to be realistic, even real, when it is anything but -- lurid legend-building at its worst. What makes it an unforgiveable pile of excrement though: This dumpster fire distracts from the true stories of migration that need telling, especially from central Europe. Why two points? Technically decent attempts at storytelling, and overall some decent acting, from Guy Pierce at least, so I will be generous.

The Amateur2

Very disappointing. Especially for Rami Malek fans. Could have been a smart thriller, but alas it is a lukewarm mess, and not even a sevicable in-flight entertainment flick for imbeciles: The cumbersome plot plods along horribly on its way into absurdistan, iand the contortionist attempts to relevance, the gratuitous violence that makes you hate the virtue signalling tropes even more add insult to injury. Add to all that some lazy anti-German, anti-South African racism with baddies from 1980s Hollywood, and you end up with this dog's breakfast.

Ok, I will state the bleeding obvious for those still blinkered by legacy media and the weird ideology they perpetrate: Someone should have read the Brothers Grimm or other actual source material and tried an original, artistic interpretation instead of this ugly, crass and insulting dumpster fire.
