This Uzumaki adaptation is basically everything I had hoped for. Its audiovisual touches help elevate these scares, as intricately crafted horrors unnerve just like they did in the source material.

Uzumaki’s premiere is not only a great companion piece to the original manga, but a fun watch in its own right. Though slightly reduced in scope and unable to give itself room to breathe, it’s a greatest-hits of a widely loved manga that lives up to immeasurable expectations.

Uzumaki is a triumph in horror that’s difficult to describe. as someone who has never read the book, (Made By Junji Itō) whilst intrigued of its concept by the same name, the show does an amazing job at encapsulating the feeling of dread, & uneasiness that the book mastered, and so far, there’s only one episode that’s aired prior to me making this review. I don’t have any negative criticism for this show, because what the book already did successfully, the format of being a show sets the books concepts to another level. everything stays true to its source material in it’s animation, the pacing, & the art direction, with the only exception being the music, (Made By Colin Stetson) which heightens its quality even more then it needs to be. Important reminder, this show is not for everybody, nor the books. there is a huge emphasis on body horror, and neither the show or the book shy away from how brazenly violent/vulgar it can be with its visuals. if you’re not into that, Best leave it alone, but if you are, that’s great. I won’t go into detail for the sake of spoiling, but whatever expectation that you have on what a horror flick can be, it won’t matter. If you’re going in blind with no knowledge about the books, I mean this in the best way possible. you won’t know what’s about to hit you and how hard it’s gonna hit. so be ready for the worst horrific outcome you can think of, but in truth it’s probably not gonna be enough to keep you from being scared.

I have just watched this first episode and it was amazing but I have a little problem. As we know, Junji Ito adaptations failed to capture the beautiful and creepy drawing of this mangaka; however, this new adaptation is a complete madness and it will probably be one of the best animation of this year. The animation of this show is a completely copy of the original manga having a fluidity with 3d and 2d that looks great. Nevertheless, the rhythm is too much fast making the story not very engaging in some parts. It feels like everything is happening very fast making characters development get **** you like Junji Ito stories, you have to watch this show right now :O.

Tbh I’m glad it was only 4 episodes bc the whole premise of it was super weird. Like it was definitely an amazing concept and the horror aspect was really cool and definitely made me feel uncomfortable sometimes. But overall? It’s meh

Loved the creepiness of the series and the story about the cyclical nature of self-destruction but the quality drop in some episodes is a letdown. And it feels somewhat rushed. A couple of more episodes would've been great to explore more about these tormented characters.

They turned one of the most iconic mangas of all time into a mediocre horror anime. It has a fairly unique visual style and an interesting soundtrack, courtesy of avantgarde maestro Colin Stetson, but aside from that it's a complete failure. It's not scary. The narrative is disjointed and is comprised of almost standalone stories that lack any sort of cohesion or logic to them. Plus it's cut super short, with a runtime of just around two hours. You're telling me THIS is what they've been working on for five years? What a joke.

Lurching far too quickly from one strange happening to another, Uzumaki failed to hold my attention for very long and after the first episode it's not even animated very well...

One of the strongest achievements of the series was the animation in the first episode, wich finally was up to Juni Ito's manga and concept, but in the second episode it all went down and now there's no point in the existence of the series if the manga is a better experience than the TV version.
