The result is a show that satisfyingly deals more in intimate moments rather than overly relying on big action set pieces or CGI'd mythical creatures to conjure excitement. ... Like any good fantasy epic, The Wheel of Time is one that promises very impressive returns, provided audiences are willing to settle in for the long haul.

It instead serves up a vast tableaux of plucky heroes and heroines, homicidal wizards and curly-haired ogres. Game of Thrones buffs may very well be devastated by the lack of nudity/ incest/ Kit Harington looking sad. For everyone else this fantasy saga has the potential to cast a spell entirely of its own devising.

The show's early days were disrupted by COVID, particularly post-production with the addition of CGI. We then see steady progress with each new episode. All this evolution will ultimately create the best epic series currently available.

This show only grows from here, but episode 4 of this first season alone made it my favorite show in television.

It’s absolutely fine. It’s got brio, it’s got style and it’s got enough portentous voiceover book-ending events to make everything feel high stakes.

While the lavish first season is eventful, it's burdened with clunky exposition, a deficit of whimsy and wonder, and thinly developed characters. [22 Nov - 5 Dec 2021, p.9]

The result is a show that may well please Jordan’s core fandom from the first but which makes for a frustrating watch for viewers who care less about whether “The Wheel of Time” outdoes “Game of Thrones” for spectacle than about whether the show they’re watching is coherent and well-crafted on its own terms. ... There is potential here: The sixth episode, of six provided to critics, is the strongest of the show’s early run.

It's hard to get lost in this world when it feels so emotionally distant, so scattered, and so packed with thin plotlines.

It’s a show that is so serious in terms of tone and dialogue as to verge on parody. There’s so little personality here, which is a hole into which almost all of the mediocre “Game of Thrones” riffs fall.

Not a perfect adaptation, but I agree with most (not all) of the changes made from the books. There are also some rough patches in the writing and FX, but I know covid and mid-season cast changes really threw a wrench in things. Despite my flags, I am overall THRILLED to see one of my favorite book series brought to life with so much passion and care.

The book story has a passionate following, and there are changes in the TV version that have thrown people off. If you've never read the books or read them a long time ago then you might like this. I made the mistake of starting a "re-read" before the show came out. The differences are so jarring that it pulls you out of the story. The episodes are also hit-and-miss. I really liked 4 and 7, for instance, but 5 and 8 were terrible. I think I'll end up sticking with this but all the excitement I had for this series has evaporated.

Edit Episode 8: I enjoyed it, but... :)) Yeah, too little consistency overall, too little explanation, a lot of the logic is wrong... and too little focus on the men and boys... It's a somewhat dumb show, but I shamelessly enjoyed it :) 6/10 last scoring Edit Episode 7: This one was great :). Back to the standard that the 6th episode lacked. Can't wait for the last episode :D. It didn't resolve everything that was "weird" in the 6th episode, but it started to. Increasing my rating. 2nd Edit Episode 6: Thought more about this, about the things that made me feel cold. I can't find any explanation for some of the things happening in this episode... so it's an episode full of plot holes and I think it expands to past and will expands to future episodes... So yeah. Still curios, but it's turning morbid :( Decreasing my rating. Edit Episode 6: I generally loved this episode, but the ending and the thing that Moiraine used to meet with you know who, those two things left me a bit cold, hmm. Also the EOTW explanation, but that did not last. Still extremely curious :D :) Edit Episode 5: I really love what they are doing... So many scenes that do multiple things (lore building, relationship expansion, foreshadowing, character development)... I loved the pacing and the themes in this episode a lot :D Episode 4: This is amazing and I want more of it :). The unreliable narrator (or whatever is called for Videos) is very strong here :D. Review after 3 episodes: Not perfect, but I am hooked. I really want to see what they do with story. I found the acting (almost) perfect to what I had in mind while reading the books. Writing was fine or better than fine most of the time, but I think the delivery of some things/ideas of the story was rather clunky (the Red Ajah chasing scene, the Moraine/Lan arrival at the inn scene). Special effects were pretty good (quite amazing half the time), but it's early in the season. Pacing was perfect for me (maybe a little slow in the second and third episodes)... don't know quite why :).

Ekranizacja odbiegająca od materiału źródłowego. Na siłę dodane elementywolę, które mocno komplikują późniejsze wstążki z książek.

Weirdly stilted show that feels extremely low budget even though I'm sure it wasn't. I haven't read the books so I can't compare it to that but from what I've heard it's a big whiff on that side as well. They're marketing this as the next Game of Thrones, I wouldn't rate it as high as BBC's Merlin if with sticking with the genre.
