Marvel's Cloak & Dagger

Its great strengths are its restraint and simplicity. The show unfolds slowly and delicately, with greater initial focus on its enchanting young leads than their newfound superpowers

Like most other Marvel shows these connections are likely to be only surface-level for the foreseeable future, but it still speaks to the tricky balancing act all these shows have to achieve: exist in their own universe, yet walk their own path. Cloak and Dagger hasn’t escaped the problems that plague its brethren, but it has introduced some fresh components that make the latter feel like a real possibility.

Some of the larger narrative elements of season 1’s big mystery feel familiar (with a parent-killing Big Evil Company at the center of it all). But Cloak & Dagger finds a new groove when Tyrone and Tandy start talking. ... So there’s real potential here. Joseph and Holt have a nice rhythm, when the show lets them hang out.

While the show’s first hour doesn’t inspire much confidence in the series, save for a poignant scene between Tyrone and his mother (Gloria Reuben), the second episode gives the characters more depth and allows for a little more light to sneak into the generally dark (tonally and visually) proceedings.

Their journey should be thrilling, fascinating. It’s a chore. The young leads do the best with what the scripts give them, even as they are forced to run over the same story beats.

The series never feels fully comfortable being either teen-oriented or more adult. It never really seems comfortable anywhere, really, as it skims through its scenes without investigating its surroundings, including the feelings or motivations of its characters.

Tengo una nota en mi libreta donde voy anotando mis impresiones y demás, a principio de la serie, supongo que será, de los poderes de Cloak & Dagger, y es que, no se si en su momento acabaría de entenderlos, pero me parecieron absurdos. Una vez que los entiendes, siguen sin tener mucho sentido, pero por lo menos son algo útiles, pero mientras no los controlan ni saben de que van, un desastre total. Los protas, y en general cualquier personaje de la serie, tienen muy poco carisma, hasta el capítulo 4, no pilla ningún tipo de rumbo, una introducción demasiado lenta, y por llamarle de alguna forma a lo de pillar rumbo, porque parece que va dando palos de ciego toda la temporada. Demasiado confusa, en mi opinión, abre frentes que no cierra demasiado bien, eso sí, juega muy bien con la música, muy significativa dentro de la serie, de lo poco salvable vaya. El montaje no me va demasiado, peca mucho de ritmo, y por no hablar del final, una maldita basura, sinceramente, es malísimo en todos los aspectos, me fastidió la serie, que, no era, ni de lejos mi favorita, pero con ese final me bajó muchísimo, una pena.

if you are looking for a show that has nothing to do with the original cloak and dagger characters , look no further here is the 2020 style teenage angst series .. sadly the great basic story and implications of the original anti super heroes has not made it into the adaptation.. what a pity.. just to remind you Cloak and dagger were both used in illegal government drug tests and barely survived the treatment where they got htheir powers, cloak needs to consume and dagger can provide .. if cloak is not fed it will start to eat himself.. or other people around him.. he cant "teleport" but use his darkness realm inside to travel there, dagger is the only one that can "feed" him without dying making this a very unhealthy symbiosis, but an intertessting one.. this could have been REALLY interessting.. but here we are.

Killed by the woke monster. It's to bad, the powers and the actors had a lot going for them but it was just too preachy. More and more, movies and shows are reminding me of christian movies where it's all about "preaching" the SJW line. If I want a sermon, I'll go to church/temple...

The season 1 was very boring and very slow-paced. I expected that the showrunners would learn from their mistakes but (and I don't know how they managed to do this)season 2 even more boring and slow as a snail that stuck in gelatine. No jokes, I keep fast fording and literally nothing happens. And to think that this garbage is part of MCU? I i sincerely hope that Cloak and Dagger remained as dust after Hulk reversed Thanos' snap.
