What I found in the first two shows was a lot of smart, pointed humor aimed at corporate bureaucracy, mendacity and absurdity. I didn't even notice till late in the second episode that the animation itself was something less than eye-popping.

A severely underrated show filled with amazing plots, witty jokes and lovable characters, all done while never losing the taste of the original Dilbert comic-strip, where insanity and outrageous situations reigning the world is the accepted social norm. Like Freakazoid, its a show way ahead of it's time and audience; its kind of reasonable for this show to fail and vanish in the current market, given the audience nowadays have to be blasted with popular culture references and toilet humor every single minute to keep them on their seats; its kind of sad to see how a great show like Dilbert have to fade away almost unrecognized. Although I can still go back to the comic strips even if this show is discontinued, I will still miss this fantastic show.

Heavily underrated TV series. Sharp wit, a clever satirical depiction of white-collar jobs, and pure comedy gold. This, like 'Office Space', was unsuccessful due to the inexperienced marketers, who can't seem to sell 'smart' humor that's not overtly raunchy or ridiculous to where it's funny. And just as good as the comic strip.

It is based on the legendary comic strip Dilbert from Scott Adams. The comic strip is about the insanity in (big) companies with the themes being leadership, quality assurance, IT, product development / testing, (mis)management, social relationships, fraud, all kinds of estimations, social interactions and more. Scott Adams has a great sense of humour paired with a good observation skill and many ideas. He uses hyperbolism, sarcasm, dark humour, subversion and irony in a most entertaining way. Often you think it is too much of hyperbolism or insanity until you find things that also happened in the company you are working for. This happen to me 3 times since I started reading the daily comic strips and it is frightening. The others strength are the memorable characters and stereotypes. We have Wally the Einstein of avoidance of work. Alice is the best engineer with only Dilbert close to her level. She has anger issues and her fist of death is feared (only in the comic). The not name pointy haired boss is incompetent on all levels and nearly always lacks the basic understanding. Dogbert is the smartest dog of the world and a master of persuasion with nearly no moral boundaries. Catbert the evil director of human resources likes to make all employees life worse. Loud Howard is just what the name says loud. Finally Dilbert the protagonist is the stereotype for an engineer with lack of social competences. The cast carries the insanities of management and work through the stories. Season 1 starts good but the next episodes are nothing special. Towards the second half each episode gets better with the final episode being a masterpiece. The art style is well transferred from the comic strip and initially recognizable. The intro and soundtrack work great. The humour is the strength of the whole show. While I don't find all episode great even the weaker once were entertaining. It only got better with the next season. Overall a great start for a new show.
