The show isn’t even close to fully formed yet--the relationships between characters are mere sketches, and the mélange of patients, interpersonal moments, and hospital politics is a bit of a jumble--but the foundation feels solid enough to hint that while this might not be the next ER, it’s certainly something that could grow into a fully realized, enjoyable show.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Chicago Med marks yet another routine entry and doggedly follows the same beats as its forbears, most notably the Chicago-set ER.

Chicago Med isn't bad. If you're looking for just another medical show, this is it. If you're looking for something that will reach out and grab you, you're going to be disappointed.

In a medium where drama junkies increasingly seem to need recaps to confirm (or explain) what they've seen, there's a place for a relatively old-fashioned medical show, especially one with a cast this appealing.

What’s odd here is that even with the influx of injured, Chicago Med never builds any dramatic heat.

The tired nature of the material suggests this could be one of those TV operations that’s hard to deem a complete success even if the patient lives.

There appears to be nary an original plot device or line of dialogue in the Chicago Med pilot which is both alarming and impressive.

It is always beneficial to have a show not concentrate on just one character, which Chicago Med does not. By having a variety of different actors, the plot lines can vary from week to week. I feel that Chicago Med is a far better program than the one featuring Chicago Police.

This has got to be one of the most listless and lifeless medical dramas I've seen in a long time. The characters are cardboard and need to be fleshed out further. The storylines are rather pedestrian, and nothing ever really builds into the type of action one would expect in a big city hospital. The main actor's in the series are not to blame, they do the best they can with the tired and boring formula... And, that's the real problem with this series. It's boring! One last thing I noticed, and maybe this adds to the boredom factor, but the hospital sets and doctor's offices, etc. are downright claustrophobic. The show looks cheap. Code Black it's nearest rival is miles ahead of this one. Sorry, **** Wolf.

I'm afraid that with the exception of "Chicago PD," **** Wolf's Chicago franchise is a sorry shadow of the Manhattan originals. Chicago Fire is puerile, and the latest offering, Chicago Med is formulaic in the extreme. Thank God for stalwarts S. Epatha Merkerson and Oliver Platt, either of whom could probably have saved the Titanic. This may be a greater challenge. Imagine an ER filled with narcissists, but wait, I'm not just talking about nurses and docs here, but patients as well! I'm sorry, was there a WGA writers strike occurring when the "script" for the first episode was written? Every hackneyed ER plot point from better shows was resurrected here. Even David Koch would not buy the naming right to this new ER center... and that's saying something.

This show is awful Marxist propaganda dribble. My lord they vote to turn the hospital into a for-profit business and they act like its some major crisis. I wish our entire healthcare system was for-profit instead of a welfare state crony socialist system, I'd be able to afford it if it was. Why do people watch this awful show.
