"Chad" has something no other show possibly could, and that's Pedrad's unique comic style. ... Easy winner.

Chad is unbelievable cringe humor that will have you laughing with your mouth. Super awkward, super awesome.

Okay I literally had to create an account so I could leave a comment because I'm not sure if I watched the same show as all the negative reviews. I thought it was **** HILARIOUS. No joke I watched both episodes twice today. I was dying each time. My mind was blown that it was a 39 year old woman, but loved that fact because she was able to kind of mock the age she was playing, when a real 14 yo couldn't have. Not sure what all the negative reviews expected...maybe people just need to complain to be happy. Good job Nasim!

Because Pedrad is playing this character, with such affection and physical dedication, the show works. She nails the antsy tugging of a backpack strap while talking to a new classmate, or the brittle posture walking through the halls, or the brief stolen moments in a bathroom, wiping away tears before throwing yourself back out there.

“Chad” is sure to gain a cult following but it’s too niche to steal the thunder of the grand poobah of uncomfortable comedy, “Curb Your Enthusiasm.”

While the show features some sporadic moments of genuine growth and connection, Chad himself mostly operates in extremes. That his most defining characteristic throughout the first season’s eight episodes is “insecure” can make him hard to watch. ... Should “Chad” get a second season, it would be more interesting to see what he does with even an ounce more confidence, even if it doesn’t make for as many obvious punchlines.

[Chad] seems to have nothing but contempt for its title character, who says and does the wrong thing in very situation, then find ways to keep doing that again and again. [Apr 2021, p.75]

This show is ridiculous but in all the best ways. Yes it's cringe, but it's different! Go in with an open mind ready for cringe fest and you'll enjoy it.

I found this very funny, can't understand the extremely negative reviews. It's uncomfortably cringe at time(all of episode three). I wouldn't have known anyone that clueless at school, and I find him very hard to root for, or not at all, but it's still very funny. He's basically a clueless jerk

Cringe: The Show where all the critics are proven to be shilling at various levels, in the face of being exposed. The jokes are beyond flat, the timing and acting is terrible, and the fact that the writers are so out of touch they called a Persian boy Chad. Might as well spin out a new series Karen, about a Blue haired middle aged White woman who constantly tells everyone in management how to do their job to her satisfaction, regardless of how it inconvienences the rest of the customers. If you are going to waste money on garbage, you might as well go all-in.

If she was playing a grown woman trying to pretend to be a 14 years old boy then there could have been some comedy in it but no we are supposed to believe that this 39 years old WOMAN is actually a 14 years old BOY, that's really freaking pathetic, they couldn't find an actual young Persian BOY to play the role.
