Critic Reviews for TV Shows

Furious (2026): Season 183
Jul 22, 2026
The show doesn’t subvert expectations or stray from predictable outcomes. But that doesn’t distract from Furious‘ strengths as a well-written, tightly wound thriller that consistently challenges its characters and their agendas.

Lucky (2026): Season 167
Jul 14, 2026
Perhaps the premise was better suited for a two-hour movie, instead of seven 45-minute episodes of meandering TV. .... But at least it comes with a propulsive start, a charming antihero in Olyphant, and that killer Fiona Apple track.

The Five Star Weekend: Season 167
Jul 9, 2026
The Five Star Weekend clearly has the right ingredients, whether it’s a solid cast or directors like Jennifer Morrison and Minkie Spiro—the female gaze enhances this material! However, the show’s interest in schmaltz over soul searching makes it less profound than it aims to be. Still, it’s escapism at its best.

Elle: Season 150
Jul 1, 2026
Unless we eventually learn that Elle suffered a memory wipe after returning to LA for college, the series—already renewed for season two—offers little more than surface-level escapism aimed at millennials who are nostalgic for the ’90s.

I Will Find You: Season 142
Jun 18, 2026
Somehow, the show takes itself too seriously and not seriously enough, leaving it an inorganic mess that not even its cast can elevate.

The Listeners: Season 142
Jun 10, 2026
Titillating and abstract by nature, with a tragic conclusion to boot, The Listeners ultimately ends up like the allegory at its center: Didactic and forgettable.

Interview With the Vampire: Season 383
Jun 8, 2026
The show is veering toward a more flamboyant, rollicking, and dare I say comedic energy. It’s an ambitious makeover that the cast and crew are well-equipped to handle, none more than Reid, who sinks his fangs into Lestat’s superstar avatar with aplomb. .... Getting to see IWTV‘s events through Lestat’s eyes and learn more about his origins makes season three enticing so far.

Alice and Steve: Season 167
Jun 8, 2026
Perhaps Alice And Steve (like a lot of recent comedies) would benefit from a longer run—more episodes to let the protagonists and the premise grow. But in the six episodes it does have, the series sharpens its strengths—well, mainly an exceptional Walker—for a mildly amusing time.

Not Suitable for Work: Season 158
Jun 2, 2026
It’s not exactly relatable or grounded, nor is it particularly hilarious, but Not Suitable For Work’s few bright spots and its impressive pedigree suggest that with a tighter focus, it could turn into the comfort hangout sitcom it desperately wants but doesn’t yet know how to be.

The Four Seasons: Season 275
May 28, 2026
There are enough one-liners in Fey’s characteristically scathing style to keep the ship afloat, but in this case, it’s mainly the banter between the core ensemble that makes the journey(s) worth it.
