The pilot for this series, with its completely unique premise, blew me away.

With its small cast and heavy reliance on CGI, Brave New World has the look and feel of a modestly-priced Syfy miniseries. It will appeal strongly to some but not to most.

Critics that dislike this show sound like old fashioned fuddy duddies who don't understand nuance. This show is a beautiful, modern retelling of a rather boring (though important) novel. Yes, some of the storyline is familiar; it's based on source material that has been borrowed from for decades, but the world that is built for the viewer is refreshing and vivid. The acting is phenomenal and each episode has important action and stakes. Alden Ehrenreich and Jessica Brown Findley will take your breath away. There is lots of nudity, which makes the old timer critics upset. If you were born after 1980 this series will probably speak to you on a deeper level than it does to the decrepit old humbugs that think anything that isn't 100% original is hackneyed. Watch it and love it, and let's all pray this show gets sold to a network that will appreciate its greatness and give us a season 2!

For all its group sex and pill-popping, this adaptation doesn’t take many risks. It’s a cautious old world, and Aldous Huxley would surely have been disappointed.

The main problem is that the stakes just feel too low. Nothing is really on the line until around eight hours in, and the story doesn’t really go anywhere that isn’t largely predictable.

Huxley's novel was a warning against blind ideology and the numbing comforts of conformity. But much of that has been lost in the wash in the new, nine-part adaptation which in the main settles for being a silly, if action-packed and excellently-acted, chunk of escapism. It passes the time – but that is where its ambitions end.

It spends so much time reveling in its own aesthetic that dramatic momentum becomes an afterthought. ... [Series’s creator, David Wiener] has made improvements that are anemic and uneven.

On paper, it has the elements of a hit. But in practice, it's another example of how many things have to go right to make a successful show, and Brave New World has too many parts out of place to be a success — and stripped out one of the most important parts that would have made it a success.

Excellent and brave performances throughout, beautiful aesthetics, seriously thought-provoking TV. I'm confused by the low mainstream reviews. Possibly they're too past-it to get it?

This show is absolutely fantastic, a beautiful mirror of contemporary society, while coming from a book 100 years old. Aldous Huxley was a genius, if you can see The Devils (1971) it was a tremendous commentary as well. This was well acted, photographed, filmed, scripted everything, a top notch production.

Short and sweet review: Starts off strong and riveting. Ends as a nonsensical train wreck.
Don't get **** in. It is just not worth it.
