Bodies takes what could be a confusing premise and crafts four distinctive stories that will eventually be linked together.

It was high time Netflix came for its slice of the quantum physical pie, and Bodies is more than able to keep up with the pack.

For the most part, Bodies is beautifully told. Yes, there are twists and turns that will keep you gripped, but the real test of the show is the capability of its leading cast (tick) and whether it gives us some heart to ground the, let's face it, absolutely mad story (tick). All in all, Bodies is well worth the watch.

The web of interconnectivity just about holds; each detective is given their own story arc; malevolent characters keep things interesting; the graphic novel origins are stylistically echoed, with hues, shadows and clever camera angles. It’s just a shame that an intriguing premise (the same crime investigated in different eras) turns into such a lumbering, high-concept logjam.

Though it takes a fairly conventional approach to its craft, the unconventional premise behind Bodies — a time-hopping murder-mystery — will keep you modestly near the edge of your seat.

The problem with Bodies is that it is anti-fun: it takes itself as seriously as a judge in a wig. There’s nary a wink to camera nor a funny line to be had across the whole eight hours. If earnestness is a sure sign of a slow mind, as Nietzsche said, then Bodies isn’t half as smart as it thinks it is.

Ultimately, Bodies ends up being an exasperatingly disappointing adaptation of a good story filled with thrilling possibilities that remain largely unexplored.

Surprised by the average reviews for this. It was a complex and intelligent story, which overall had great production and performances. I had some **** with character portrayal, particularly towards the end, but other than that a great series.

Bodies is a classic detective mini series from Netflix. It's sterile and that doesn't surprise me at all. The plot is interesting, 4 timelines are always interesting. But the way it is implemented raises questions. First of all, the time lines themselves are connected indirectly. Sci-Fi is the weakest part here. The timeline of the future causes only laughter from the helplessness of the screenwriters to describe it somehow. The time line of 41 years is also more of a plot load than a branch significant for the plot. So it turns out that only 2 out of 4 time lines are prescribed more or less adequately. And the plot is built on 4. As a result, all this falls apart in the last episodes. And they try to glue the plot together, but it turns out lousy. The main advantage of the series is that there are only 8 episodes. Although I would have reduced it to 6. You watch the last episodes already on inertia. I can't recommend even fans of British detective series to watch it.

The threads **** story are here, but alas it is shoe-horned into a series more content with pushing "modern" messages. A pity really as the main actress (strong black female) is excellent and other than the future actress (wooden, boring) are mostly well played. The homosexuality of one of the protagonists actually plays a role in the story other than simply checking another DEI box. Unfortunately this particular box comes at the cost of excessive nudity.

After a few eposides of exposition, laying out the mystery set-up everything goes downhill and quickly.... The more it is revealied, the less you are amused or care... Ambitious fail.
