This kind of story needs a heroine who's both charming enough to carry the action, and believable as someone whom no one expects to be good at detective work. Fortunately, McKenna-Bruce is slyly funny and cool in the lead role.

This is a clever, polished update of an Agatha Christie book with a charismatic cast, plentiful humor and a real sense of adventure. I hope they turn this into a franchise.

To be honest, I had my doubts during the first act of the series. The pacing starts off quite slow, almost testing the viewer’s patience by keeping the core mystery at a distance. However, as the episodes progress, you realize this was a calculated build-up. The tempo rises steadily, culminating in a final episode that provides all the answers while completely immersing you in its **** real triumph of this adaptation lies in its plot twists. They aren’t forced or added for mere shock value; they are seamlessly woven into the narrative, making the "jaw-dropping" moments feel both surprising and earned. I found myself genuinely stunned by the direction the story took in its final **** the acting front, Mia McKenna-Bruce is the absolute standout. She proves here that she is undoubtedly on her way to becoming one of the leading powerhouses of her generation. Her portrayal of Bundle is electric and carries the show’s energy. Of course, having veterans like Martin Freeman and Helena Bonham Carter in the cast adds a layer of prestige; they command the screen with their usual brilliance, even in the quieter moments.Visually, the production is flawless. The costume design and the 1920s period aesthetic are handled with great care, creating a world that feels both lavish and authentic. If you can push through the initial slow start, you’ll be rewarded with a clever, stylish, and ultimately very satisfying mystery.

Here, the journey isn’t necessarily thrilling, nor is it as intellectually adroit as peak Sherlock, but it’s lively and easygoing entertainment. And for most viewers, Mia McKenna-Bruce will be a most agreeable discovery.

Netflix's adaptation of Agatha Christie's Seven Dials takes a passably entertaining murder mystery and tries to raise its emotional stakes with mixed results.

If you have neither read the original book nor care about the changes, this is a diverting three-parter. Christie purists may feel differently. The ending is completely new.

Across three tepid hours, Christie’s killer story is wasted on a series that feels dead on arrival.

The latest attempt to adapt the Queen of Crime’s work is a dismal failure: There’s no regard for Christie’s prose, no idea who the series’ audience is meant to be, and no goal except to further increase Netflix’s intellectual property resources.

This was a diverting 3 hours. Enjoyed visiting 1920's England, I thought the London CGI scenes were quite well done. Martin Freeman and Helena Bonham-Carter were excellent, as always. In fact I could easily watch a mystery series with Martin Freeman and the 7 dials society. I had mixed feelings about the main female lead, played by Mia McKenna-Bruce. I thought she was feisty and played the part with the right touch of fear and playfulness, but at the same time she didn't come across at all like a 1920's aristocrat. Her accent kept slipping and she used modern vernacular too often. The actress is only 5 foot tall, so everyone towered over her in every scene, it was a bit weird watching everyone hitting on someone who basically looks like a 13 year old.

Acting is good. Main actress walks a bit funny, but perhaps that's just me. She is good though. I like her. But this is Agatha Christie. Her novels are for children if we are honest. Predictable. Simple. Obvious. So, the story is over simplified and a bit childish.
Acting is good. Scenery is great. Locations and camerawork is really good.
I liked the London overview of the crossing with 7 streets and the woods overview with 7 paths. A nice contrast. Sad that the lighting in those shorts doesn't match the rest of the connecting scenes. Please stop with the Agatha Christie novels as scripts for movies and series. There are much better stories out there!

This Christie mystery starts with a fancy party at a luxurious country estate in 1925. Once the inevitable murder occurs, it’s up to the disappointed daughter (Mia McKenna-Bruce) to investigate the loss of her love. This leads to a plot that meanders without much interesting happening. Usually, Christie stories include a few eccentric characters, but the only one here is the mother (Helena Bonham Carter who’s delightfully bored and blasé). Martin Freeman shows up to provide a few moments of mild personality and McKenna-Bruce is assured, but not especially charming. The potential for stylish production design and clever dialogue is lacking and the final episode spends too much time explaining everything. This is a disappointing adaptation of the author’s work that should be called “Seven Dulls.” (3 one-hour eps)

Not the best rendition of Christie's work. And the variation from the original is eye-rolling.
