This is a tragicomic fable about an all-too-real social predicament rather a wish-fulfillment fantasy, and the tragic result may be that hardly anyone notices how good it is, or the sickest, weirdest, most triumphant performance of Wiig’s career.

By turns touching, amusing and genuinely disturbing, it defies expectations and easy categorization, forgoing obvious laughs and cheap emotional payoffs in favor of something much odder and more interesting.

I was completely blindsided by how good Welcome to Me was. An incredible ensemble cast spearheaded by the fantastic Kristen Wiig tells the funny and heartbreaking story of Alice Klieg, a woman with borderline personality disorder who wins the lottery and uses the winnings to create a TV show about her life. I was rolling in my seat with laughter at one minute and on the edge of my seat the next. The rollercoaster/trainwreck unfolding before me in this movie was a sight to behold. The script is very strong, and gives a remarkably realistic portrayal of life with Borderline Personality Disorder. In a strange way, this movie is incredibly relevant. One only has to look up Christian Weston Chandler or DarkSydePhil to see what happens when the mentally ill are given exposure and enabled, and the damage they can do to themselves and loved ones as a result. The internet provides a platform that TV never could. In a way, Alice's journey is a mirror of what happens online everyday. This is a quirky, absurd, and at times surreal film, but there is never a dull moment. Alice's show is like something that would be aired on Adult Swim ironically as opposed to Alice's true presentation of events. If you like oddball movies that have an emotional message, please watch Welcome to Me.

I found this movie to be incredibly captivating. Great performances by the entire cast, and an especially brave and powerful one from Kristen Wiig. Although this movie may offend, it may also touch you deeply as it craftily explores the lengths some may go to self-medicate through action and behavior. It made me laugh out loud, got me teary eyed and gave me some new insight and empathy into the complex world of mental illness. Funny, shocking and disturbing at times; this film is pure genius.

As she demonstrated in “The Skeleton Twins,” the former “Saturday Night Live” comedian has grown so adept at rendering troubled characters without offering sideline commentary that you can’t help but fall in love with her, even as laughter gives way to uncomfortable silence.

Shira Piven, working from a script by Elliot Laurence, has directed a beautiful, sad, sweet and funny movie that deals honestly with mental illness while also earning big laughs and offering up some hard truths. And it helps that Kristen Wiig gives the best sustained performance of her entire career in the lead.

It’s a mesmerising turn from Wiig, but the script leaves her working overtime to carry a story that doesn’t delve much deeper than its initial premise.

Welcome to Me isn’t laughing with Alice, but at her, in what seems like a harsh reaction to mental illness.

The movie is nothing more than a labored series of skits that play like ideas from rejected TV pilots.

"Welcome To Me" é um dos filmes mais incomuns de sempre, porém, este drama/comédia traz consigo uma premissa única e um humor bizarro. A atuação de Kristen Wiig é fantástica.

more than a welcome.. Welcome To Me The premise is promising and has a potential to reach for something more colossal than it even attempts to, in here which may feel inadequate in the end. Despite of having, such a wider range the writer, narrows its priorities down to something simple and sensible which helps connect easily with the viewers. Eliot Lawrence has done a decent work on writing the script which is engaging for the most of the time and not pretentious or chalky which it could have been easily considering the premise. Shira Piven; the director, is in her A game as she executes the script aptly and offers palpable environment to the tone which it stays true to, throughout the course of it. Kirsten Wiig carries it off all on her shoulder proving once again, her amazing acting skills even though isn't supported to that extent by her supporting cast like James Marsden, Wes Bentley and Linda Cardellini. It is short on technical aspects like sound department and editing. Welcome To Me is more than a welcome to its creativity and the energy that it offers from the first frame till the curtain drops; something that can feed off the audience for its almost 90 minutes.

Welcome to Me may be about one woman's experience with mental illness and winning the lottery, but the film is also meant to reflect a little bit of us all. It's a deep one - and really, truly unusual. Not everyone will relate, but Kristen Wiig proves once more her comedic gold and dramatic acting chops.

Kristen is the new queen of try-too-hard quirky indie comedy. This film is dishonest. I know people will like this film and I can only speak for myself, but unfortunately for me, this film doesn't feel genuine. I either believe a film or I don't and I didn't believe for a second that this woman was real. Kristen in a lemon chiffon dress and heels with a purple fanny pack eating string cheese? Like I said, she's trying way too hard.

I watched this at home - on Hoopla. It sounded like a good premise, and maybe it followed this premise, but not very smoothly. Of course it was about a "borderline personality" mental problem, and that's just how it came out. After watching about half of it, I decided it wasn't going anyplace - and if it did start going someplace I wasn't interested in seeing where it was going.
