On the plus side, Allen's basic movie-making skills are sound. The $13-million film looks crisp and clean. An idiot could follow the story line and two hours could go by without many glimpses at the wristwatch. In short, the perfect made-for-TV movie. [15 Jul 1978, p.E1]

Hammy action yarn with an entertaining performance from Michael Caine.

Mr. Allen might just as well have devoted his talents to man-eating goldfish, poodles on the rampage or carniverous canaries.
30
Killer bees periodically interrupt the arch writing, stilted direction and ludicrous acting in Irwin Allen's disappointing and tired non-thriller.
25
A poorly made and utterly laughable film that has gained a minor cult status with "bad film" fans.
20
A risibly inadequate disaster movie.

Appallingly bad. Silly, laughable, and dumb, Zero thrills and suspense Cheap looking fx. The once dependable Irwin Allen seriously has lost his touch. Maybe except for convincing top stars to appear in such dreck for an easy paycheck.
