What an absolute disgrace. How could anyone working on this think it was a good idea? What is wrong with America that they feel the need to try and rewrite history the most idiotic way possible no matter how sacred the subject matter? The rest of the world still remembers the true brave heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice when it mattered most. Again, absolutely disgraceful and the people involved should be ashamed.

The Six Triple Eight exemplifies how good intentions can collapse into hollow filmmaking. The movie relies almost entirely on manipulative scoring and blunt inspirational rhetoric, substituting emotional signaling for actual drama or insight. Rather than allowing the history to speak for itself, the film insists on telling the audience what to feel at every turn.Characters are barely developed, existing as interchangeable symbols rather than distinct people. The script flattens racism, sexism, and wartime adversity into simplified narrative hurdles, avoiding discomfort, ambiguity, or sustained tension. Dialogue is stiff and didactic, draining scenes of authenticity.Visually and structurally, the film is inert—competent but utterly uninspired. Its repetitive pacing and risk-averse direction render a remarkable true story forgettable. In the end, The Six Triple Eight mistakes reverence for substance and uplift for meaning, resulting in a film that fails both as cinema and as historical reckoning.

This movie had a lot of filler and unnecessary scenes that had no correlation, however, it has a couple of good scenes and a good ending

A fairly decent yarn for a couple of hours that manage to make the concept of people sorting mail actually a bit interesting. There is enough emotion and drama to fill the remaining time. The movie has an competent production and I found few things to critique on in terms of the workmanship. The main problem of the movie is that the message is laid on way too thick. There is a lot of speeches about the adversity the characters are facing but since this is already shown by how other characters act; the old saying "show, don't tell" really should have been applied to the script before shooting.

The film can be critiqued. But bringing almost an untold story of courage, determination, belief and patriotism of an oppressed community in the face of gross injustice is what makes this film outstanding

The movie Six Triple Eight portrays the role of African American women sorting and ‎distributing mail to troops during World War II and highlights the importance of letters ‎between loved ones and troops. It is an excellent Netflix account 6888th Battalion of ‎African American women serving in the military and their role in streamlining the delivery ‎of mail. The newly published book A Sailor’s Song: Lost Love Letters of World War II ‎portrays this topic from the personal perspective of a sailor and his wife as they deal with ‎the separation of war. The book depicts on a personal level the complex role of mail in ‎morale and explains why the military was intent on establishing a rapid and efficient mail ‎system. Based on war letters, military recorders, Post Office records, and news accounts. A ‎Sailor’s Song was published in February 2025 and is available on Amazon or at bookstores.‎

The Six Triple Eight may have been shot like a low-budget Christmas movie, with its message laid on a bit too thick, yet I still found it enjoyable. As someone well-versed in the history of the World Wars, I find it impossible to watch films like this without being deeply moved.

Excellent balance of war story and racial conflict. This is HISTORY, forgotten history. These are the stories we need to be telling. This is the type of story cinema is made for. CONTINUE READING ON LETTERBOXD: ****/8eIypR

Tyler Perry co-wrote and directed this historical drama about Black female WACs during WWII. Despite blatant racist and misogynist prejudice, they managed to unravel the three-year backup of undelivered mail, improving the morale of the soldiers and their relatives back home. Lena Derriecott King plays a young enlistee who drives the personal story with Kerry Washington as the commander, whose main job is to boldly speechify. This is a fascinating true story about a remarkable troupe of women, but Perry leans heavily on melodramatic moments and personal drama, which drags down the momentum. It also leaves less time to appreciate the details of their accomplishment. If you just watch the first third and last third of the film, you'd get the compelling narrative without suffering thru the tears and trauma.

How does one turn a less than flashy **** a war drama into a highly entertaining film? I will tell you how, you hire and incredible cast lead by the amazing. Kerry Washington. Tyler Perry takes us back in time to 1945 during. WW II and tells the story ****.6888th.which was the first and only all-Black female Women's Army Corps (WAC) unit stationed in Europe during World War II. Their primary task was to sort and deliver a backlog of millions of pieces of mail to American soldiers fighting abroad. These ladies faced not only the dangers of war but everything women and people of color dealt with during that time period. In my opinion, this is the best movie Tyler Perry has ever done and I applaud him for bringing this true story to light. I hope he continues to make more films like this.

Boring... Skip it. Well, I did have some loud laughs because the dialogue was so cringe and some scenes were just ridiculous.

Amazon is very fierce competition but Flix still manages to outwoke them from time to time, a real feat. Given the many historical errors and , let's say, very lively versions of mail team contributions in a grand scale war , I still wonder.. who in the streaming boardrooms these days gives the final push to say.. what we need is an all non Caucasian cast in, what was still, a very white world back then , and you know what, the stories don't even have to make sense in the Era. Reminds me actually of the recent AI machine searches people came up with , showing pictures of a multi cultural **** squad , because the AI is also convinced that 1940 Germany looked exactly like 2024 Los Angeles.

Another uplifting slice of true WWII historyStarting with Band of Brothers and Saving Private Ryan, Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks made a long series of WWII history-book movies. This is one of the better ones. The best of the American spirit is again honored in show-not-tell manner. The WHAT HAPPENED is made clear; as well, there is no shying away from the racism, helping younger audiences understand what racism was and how many women endured it with nobility. Written and directed by Tyler Perry; it's heartfelt, non-stereotyped writing and acting, honoring both the will and competency of black women who served in WWII and their individual experiences as WACs. Also starring the wonderful state of Georgia. On the negative side, for younger males in the audience, the plotting is likely to seem just short of sappy. This a common problem with WWII material. For me as a white male, I enjoyed how they brought the emotions of the WACs into the foreground, not to dwell on them; rather, using them to move the story forward. This kind of screenwriting and moviemaking is easy for arm-chair critics to lash out at. Anyone who has tried to write something like this knows the challenges. When the emotions need to be the foreground, you can't please every segment of the audience.

Kerry Washington's great performance is the only reason why I didn't give this a Zero. I couldn't believe they opened with a WWI trench warfare scene in a WWII movie. They didn't have trench warfare in WWII. Tyler Perry movies are done so poorly.

"The Six Triple Eight" brings to life a remarkable true story of bravery and resilience, portraying individuals whose courage is difficult to fully grasp from our modern vantage point. As a viewer, it’s important to approach this film with respect for the extraordinary real-life events it depicts. While everyone is entitled to their opinion, I encourage those critiquing the film to consider the historical and emotional significance of the story before assigning a rating. This is not merely a cinematic experience but a tribute to real heroes whose legacy deserves thoughtful reflection.

I was greatly touched by this movie, although also deeply disgusted by the racist chauvinistic attitude of the General. If this movie helps to establish that it is not OK to treat fellow human beings (not enough had happened in that regard in eighty years), apart from giving credit for an amazing achievement by the portrayed ladies, it will have been totally worth it.

The Six Triple Eight is a brilliant and emotional retelling of how an all-black and all-female battalion managed to fix a broken mail system, despite the the culture of racism and inequality of the time.

"Six Triple Eight" is very average entertaining period drama that I had the privilege to be an extra on but the film doesn't really give you a lot details about these women to the extent of other drama.
