The script by Dan Hall is strictly paint-by-numbers — cut and dried and predictable. But the execution atones for some of that, and the performances give it that extra something that makes even a formulaic thriller worth your time.

Ik wist niet wat ik er van moest verwachten. Maar onverwacht een mooie film. De problematiek met gehoorverlies is op een mooie manier weergegeven en geeft een mooie dynamiek tussen de hoofdrolspelers. Vooral de dove dame acteerde erg goed. Het is geen grote kaskraker maar toch had de film wel een bepaalde charme.

Nothing in the plot is going to blow your socks off; it's a movie we have all seen before, and we know how it is going to play out. What saves it is the performances of Kinnaman and Frank and the overall execution of the film. A solid Sunday afternoon watch.
