I watched it again after all these years. Amazing. That’s for sure. A powerful story. No CGI. No action scenes. A clean, well-crafted plot. Quality. A real gem. Is it one of the best movies ever? Sure. Is it the best movie in my eyes, or one of the best? Not quite. Maybe in a few years I’ll watch it again and appreciate it even more, though it’s still an amazing movie. I don’t know what else to say. A great look inside a prison with a wonderful ending.

Best movie I've seen since Sharknado (peak). Not my favourite, but still the most well-done movie

Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman did a wonderful job of carrying the film. The background score was good as well.

Went into this film with high expectations and was not disappointed. Having to bear the weight of the highest rated movie of all time is a tall order, but this is one of the films that can stand up to this task. While its place might not be absolute, it is one of the works that will linger within your mind for years. The story is amazingly written and has a plethora lessons to teach the viewer who is invested in it. Every situation the characters find themselves in, every decision made, it all adds app to a phenomenal finale that will satisfy even the most austere watcher.

The Shawshank Redemption is a decent movie, but it's very overrated (in my opinion, of course). AFAIK, it has been ranked #1 on IMDb for 15 years now, and there are more than a hundred other movies on that list that deserve a higher ranking than this. I suppose it really appeals to "the curtains were blue" people, and Stephen King fans.

It is a strange comment to make about a film set inside a prison, but “The Shawshank Redemption” creates a warm hold on our feelings because it makes us a member of a family. Many movies offer us vicarious experiences and quick, superficial emotions. “Shawshank” slows down and looks. It uses the narrator’s calm, observant voice to include us in the story of men who have formed a community behind bars. It is deeper than most films; about continuity in a lifetime, based on friendship and hope.

Overrated film with a prison break that is so unrealistic. The film drags on a bit in the second act.

Greetings from Lithuania. It is very hard to call "The Shawshank Redemption" (1994) a masterpiece, but it is a definitely one of the most inspiring and beautifully crafted picture off all time. That said, i won't going into details, as plot and everything about this movie is so well known. To simply put, this is a story of two men in prison sentenced to life time and their journey to redemption. Seeing this movie ~ 5 times in my life i can say that when some time passes, you kinda feel a need to re-watch it again, because this movie is like a journey itself, with characters drawn so sharply that we do care about them and the outcome is one of the most powerful and hope inspiring there is. I brake every single time when watching sequence when Brooks gets out of prison and the whole sequence of living free - it is a powerful film making so say the least.Overall, No.1 at IMDb Top 250 says a lot - this is a movie that stays with you and inspires you not to lose hope. It is flawlessly paced - at running time 2 h 20 min it never drags - it should be studied at film making universities HOW to create a film with no women characters, when action takes place inside the prison and there isn't mainstream action at all. Good things never get old, and "The Shawshank Redemption" is one the finest examples.

By far, the BEST movie I have ever seen. I am not very emotional, but this was by far the most emotional I've ever got from a movie. Wish this is a requirement to watch in life.

The main character, Andy Dufresne, unjustly convicted of a crime, shows incredible fortitude and the ability to maintain humanity in the most difficult conditions of Shawshank prison. His relationship with Red creates a touching line of support and faith in a better future. Director Frank Darabont masterfully conveys the atmosphere of hopelessness and at the same time the inner freedom that lives in the heart of every person. The film is filled with deep reflections on justice, hope and the strength of the human spirit. The acting of Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman amazes with sincerity and warmth. The Shawshank Redemption is a classic that leaves an indelible mark and reminds us that even in the darkest circumstances there is a place for light and faith in the best.

Best movie ever made. When I Watch the movie I feel every emotion every time. I love this movie

Do I need to do anything for this one? This is my Second Time Watching this film, and it's one of those films that you don't mind watching from time to time. If you are alone, I recommend you watch this film, to real,x unwind and be immersed by a story, a film and characters that will keep you interested throughout, only making you want more and **** overall, it will satisfy. 10/10, we need more of these types of films. Focused, Grim, yet Hopeful.

The shawshank redemption is a great movie, the internet's favorite movie, but critics are usually right and this is a prime case. In the criitcs and cinema world this film is underrated, getting an 82/100 is not bad but it doesn't put shawshank in the top 200 movies oat, which I believe it deserves. Is it a top 10 movie? No. Not even close. Is it a good movie? Yes. It's a great movie, a happy yet sad movie but it's not a top 100 movie. I would give it an 86/100 as I believe that is what it deserves. At the end of the day it doesn't touch movies like The godfather which has 100/100 or Pulp Fiction which has a 95/100 but is it notably better than reservoirdogs for an example which has 81/100? Yes.

This was one of those films I can't believe how long it took me to see. The Shawshank Redemption lived up to the reputation that other have given it perfectly and I can understand why so many people or sites put this as their #1 movie of all time. The story of Andy is heartbreaking but the movie does such a great job with making you not lose hope despite how bleak things get.

A film tied from beginning to end, 2 characters that capture you, after a few minutes of the film you become intrigued, in the following minutes you become **** the film goes on, you feel like you've been friends with the characters for 20 years. At the end I feel a feeling that I still don't know how to explain.Something unique that only this film made me feel to this day. A film that doesn't move so much that it makes me cry, on the contrary, it moves me to the point of feeling a happiness that I don't know how to describe.A masterpiece of cinema.

You will never see a movie like this Ever. A movie which was theft of Oscar. The beautiful thing about this movie is its story that has been taken from the book by Stephen King and the actors that have done great acting.

Should watch while in the mood of normal. It talk about philosophy so should try to understand not just see the movie.

As the story dives in unexplained and reasonless in the beginning, every silence then becomes a portrayal of hidden interest for freedom and fresh air. Silence accounts for planning in this story.
