But with 'Jedi,' listen to the creaking, huge metal door that opens and leads the androids C-3PO and R2-D2 to the cave of Jabba the Hutt, where, at the beginning of the film, good-guy space pilot Han Solo is frozen in a carbonite mold like some kind of nouvelle cuisine side dish. It will remind old-time radio listeners of the creaking door of the 'Inner Sanctum' show, and it serves the same purpose. Both are doorways to adventure...And before this portion of the 'Star Wars' saga is history, let us take time to praise the principal performers.

Best of all, a revisit with Jedi makes a viewer appreciate spectacle, presentation, mythology -- that, and the power of a bitchin' helmet to speak volumes in a language even an alien can understand. [Special Edition]

I think that Star Wars: Return Of The Jedi is a perfect example of an underrated movie that should be better rated, it concludes the original trilogy so beautifully and amazingly that I don't understand why this is a mixed or average movie, sure it has a boring start, but after that everything is a masterpiece.

No one creates fantasy like George Lucas, and there's nothing quite like a big, cornball fantasy to start the summer. This one is the biggest yet, and it is hard to imagine anyone not being entertained by it. It is, as we used to say around the galaxy a long time ago, a tour de force. [25 May 1983, p.D1]

Brings things to an almost cheesy conclusion. Given the gripping, dark elements that creator George Lucas introduced in the two previous films, the third movie’s outcome smacks of PG-rated populism rather than artistic fulfillment. But the experience is still highly entertaining. [Special Edition]

Ultimately, Jedi even backs off some of the more tantalizing possibilities suggested by the cliffhanging scenario of "Empire." This inhibition appears to grow out of consideration for the feelings of the juvenile audience, which can enjoy an abundance of thrills and close calls while resting assured that nothing catastrophic is going to be fall the heroes.

Hamill is not enough of a dramatic actor to carry the plot load here, especially when his partner in so many scenes is really little more than an oversized gas pump, even if splendidly voiced by James Earl Jones.

Return of the Jedi doesn't really end the trilogy as much as it brings it to a dead stop. The film...is by far the dimmest adventure of the lot.

No sé qué opinan ustedes pero para mí esta es la mejor película de Star Wars y entra en mi top 10 de mejores películas de todos los tiempos con una impresionante batalla final de un gran villano como el emperador palpatine

The rhythmic machinery of a celebratory finale: A 3.0-star vivid but familiar drift through high-tension closure.2012(3.0)I watched Return of the Jedi (1983) in 2012, and it remains a vivid 3.0-star record in my archive—a raw revelation of how a sensational saga can be resolved through a narrative rhythm that feels 100% nostalgic and stagnant. This experience **** the fourth wall of the trilogy by infusing a narrative rhythm that felt somewhat far too stagnant, dragging through a pathetic cycle of Ewok skirmishes on Endor that lacked the chewy intellectual wit of The Empire Strikes Back. While the production leveraged the vivid, sensational scale of the second Death Star and the raw, high-tension confrontation between Luke, Vader, and the Emperor, the narrative rhythm was far from a sophisticated rebellion, instead delivering a vivid but pathetic repetition of past stakes. Seeing the vivid, golden soul of C-3PO being worshipped and the raw, "bbo-jjak" energy of the forest moon provided a rhythmic sense of visual amusement, but the overall soul felt stagnant compared to the dark brilliance of its predecessor. The 95% preservation of my memory is dominated by the rhythmic, raw closure of Vader’s redemption and the vivid but pathetic realization that the saga’s peak had already passed, creating a journey that felt more like a safe, 3.0-star artifact of rhythmic tradition. Unlike the vivid soul of Melancholia or the raw brilliance of Push, this encounter possessed a rhythm that was far too stagnant to evoke genuine 4.0-star excitement in 2012. It stands in my record as a vivid exercise in completion—a 3.0-star artifact of rhythmic comfort that remained too pathetic to achieve a sensational impact on my psychological archive.

the weakest of the original trilogy by far with some plot points feeling a little rushed or just weird by comparison to the previous movies

Eskimesi gözüme çok batıyor... Bir de sanki ana hikaye yerine yan hikayeler anlatılıyor gibi...

Such a great series and what a terrible way to end it. I just really don't get how you could start off with two of the greatest films of all time and end with just an utter disappointment. And what was up with those Ewoks? Come on now.
