The emotional payoff felt "stagnant" and unearned, mirroring the high-tension boredom of my most dreaded 1.0-star records like "Gandhi." The 95% preservation of my memory is dominated by the rhythmic, "raw" agony of watching a once-great series crawl toward a "pathetic" finish line, creating a permanent, "sensational" scar of disappointment on my soul. Unlike the "vivid" soul of "West Side Story" or the "raw" tension of "The Machinist," this experience possessed no rebellious spirit, standing only as a "stagnant" 1.0-star artifact of "pathetic" storytelling. It remains in my 2010 record as a "vivid" warning against forced sequels—a "stagnant" encounter with a "pathetic" rhythm that failed to leave any "sensational" impact on my psychological archive.

The hell do you mean "WoRsT oNe Of ThEm AlL"??? Did you even WATCH Shrek the Third? That one was the worst BY FAR. This one has the strongest emotional core out of all of them, and while, yes, it isn't as funny as the first two entries, it still made me smile more due to the apocalypse of wholesome moments throughout. I PERSONALLY would have to say that the Shrek series ended on a stronger note than it began, DESPITE the loss of the series' quirky humour, DESPITE-- Uhm-- Wait-- I can't even think of any reasons why you'd hate it past that singular minuet point! Wow, Shrek grew up with his audience! WHAT A SHOCKER GUYS! It's STILL a god damn masterpiece! 8.7/10 second best Shrek behind No. 2 still a must watch. END. OF.

Shrek Forever After is by far the most deep and interesting movie out of the 4 movies, while the past 3 movies were goofy and kinda stupid with tons of repetitive clichés, this movie is an enourmous improvement in the franchise, deep character development and an interesting world.

you ever wanted to know what it be like to see shrek suffer character assassination, become a dead beat father, sell away his family and end up in another timeline where he creeps on and stalks on his wife who doesn't like nor know who he is? well then if you said yes then this is the prefect movie for you, guest staring poor animation.

Honestly one of my favorite movies, not sure why it seems so hated compared to the other Shrek's, I've never watched a movie 3 times in a row until this movie, it was that amazing to me.

I didn't like this one as much as the first 2 movies, but it's definitely better than Shrek the Third.

The perfect finale to a perfect trilogy. (Shrek the Third doesn't count) While it's less funny than Shrek 1 and 2, it makes up for it with a genuinely interesting and dramatic plot.

The first ever movie that I completely saw in theaters. Too bad it's the finale of Shrek, unless there is some spin offs of that series.

This is kind of an outlier of the Shrek movies, the first and especially the second movie were extremely funny adventures, while the third one was a bit lacking here and there. The fourth one is a bit better than the third one, given that it takes the established characters and turns them on their head, but it still ends sort of inconclusively. Sure, Shrek might live happily ever after, but the whole thing doesn't seem to have a real 'bang' that ties the whole movie series together. Still entertaining, but if you want to watch a good Shrek movie, just watch the second one.

Y'all Said Shrek lll Was The Worst, But This Is A Terrible Movie. I just hate that Shrek acts like a jerk in the beginning. But the scene when the other ogers are dancing is very funny!!!

Now, this, is what I consider shrek 2's true sequel, I'm telling you, if shrek the third didn't exist, everyone would praise this movie like the second coming of christ. It is so dramatically complex, even compared to the other shrek movies, it's just awesome. This is the kind of movie you hate as a kid but come to love when you get older. I'd even go as far as to say it's better than the first movie.

It's nothing all too special. It's a below average kids movie that doesn't try anything too unique.

Shrek is one of the most popular animated movie franchises of all time because of the characters. Everything that happens in the story is a result of the actions that some character take senate takes in it. Shrek wants to be left alone and does not care about anyone, because of which the first movie happens. Fiona wants her father to accept her husband for what he is because of which the second movie happens. Prince charming wants to take revenge for his mother's death and motivates evil character to do what they do, so the third movie happened. Basically Shrek is the Shrek of all animated movie franchises. Here also the movie is driven by Shrek's reluctance. In spite of getting everything one needs in the life Shrek is not happy. As a result he sells away the day he was born to Rumpelstiltskin. This causes him to disappear from the timeline thus making him realise his true self worth. It is only after he loses Donkey and Fiona that he realises how much he loves them. And not just him, he even realises how much the ogres mean to the fairy land. The thing I really like about Shrek movies is that they are set in the same world as all the fairy tale characters who stories we heard of as children. Fairy tales are something we emotionally relate to because of our childhood, and also don't get offended if someone makes fun of it. This is used very nicely in Shrek movies except the third one where they just make jokes that could have worked in literally any other film. Here I really liked how Shrek and Donkey met each other for the first time in this new life and how Shrek tries to meet Fiona again (though I didn't like that "My donkey fell in your waterhole" joke). The thing I didn't like about this movie is that it did not work too much over the franchise. It just reiterated the same Fiona story. This is a problem with the last two movies. They haven't established more of the world other than what was done from the first two movies. And even if it did it wouldn't have really mattered. This movie played it very safe after The Third's failure by making all the events disappear, just in case the movie isn't liked that much. This wouldn't have been a problem, except this is supposed to be the last movie of the franchise. It's a pity this is the last movie of the franchise, because the franchise could have been revived if there were more such movies. I hope if there is a fifth Shrek movie, they make it about Shrek moving to Far, Far Away so that their children have a better upbringing. So they behave in an ogre manner at school and Shrek learns to be a better person so that his children have a good role model.

Shrek Forever After is a great return to the Shrek series Shrek Forever After is about Shrek his life he is getting tired of and bored of so he gets angry at a party and finds someone stuck saves them but then gets carried away and Shrek wants to go back to old ways so Rumpelstiltskin gives it to him so he can go back to those days but there is a catch to it while Shrek did not know that at first So Shrek Forever After is a good ending to the series but I still want more tho anyway everyone is good I believe that Rumpelstiltskin is the best villain in the whole series at first I did not like this entry to the series I start to respect this movie now it is great what they were trying to do and succeed what they were achieving but I don't donkey that much and Puss in Boots there are weak in this entry of the series so all round a good ending to the series that I miss a lot so I give Shrek Forever After a B+

After three box office hits (with "Shrek the Third" not justifying half the ticket money, to be honest), DreamWorks bet on a fourth production. Truth be told, the producers seem to have learned from the mistakes of the third film and reinforced their attention to the script this time, but there is no way to solve the wear and tear of the material and characters. Without something really different or new, it is just another film to add to the sequence, and the ticket office reflected that, regressing in comparison to the previous film. The script is relatively simple: a year after the birth of their three children, Shrek and Fiona are organizing a grand birthday party for the little ones. They are happy and everything is going well but, to Shrek's dismay, his life has never returned to what it was: instead of the quietness of the swamp and feeling threatening as an ogre, he feels that he has become a tourist attraction that it doesn't scare anyone. Wishing to change everything, but not quite knowing how, he is deceived by the dwarf Rumpelstiltskin, who is an expert in fraudulent and deceptive magical contracts. So, with a signature, he sells him the day he was born, allowing the dwarf to change his whole life and create an alternative reality, where Shrek is sent, and in which he never lived in the swamp, never saved Fiona... and never was born. Honestly, the film seems to me satisfactory in that it does not seem as confused and as absurd as "Shrek 3". The story is good, but it can still be somewhat confusing for young people, who may not understand the paradox created in the film. Another problem with the script is the choice of the villain: in fact, unless we are avid fans of fairy tales, few will know who Rumpelstiltskin is! He is an unknown villain. In contrast, the film carries a very didactic message about the importance of valuing what we have while we have it, and not just when we no longer have it. And Fiona has never seemed so heroic to us or so distant from the regular fairy tale princess! We know the rest, we've seen three films in the franchise, and it's hard to do anything else that surprises us. The material is worn out. As has been the rule in this sequence of films, the voice actors have been retained and are almost the same as we have heard about since the first film "Shrek". In general, their work continues to be impeccable and, if there are failures, they are due more to the writing of some dialogues, and there are some that are quite cliché and loaded with sentences-made, but this ends up being a lesser evil, compensated largely by the general improvement of the jokes. At a technical level, the film is very good and does not lag behind the first two. The animation was very well done and the visual is excellent, with great colors and an excellent use of light and contrast. The film is much faster than its predecessors, with a lot more action and fighting scenes, and that helps a lot to make the film more appealing and interesting. The soundtrack is good and back to betting on pop music hits like "Isn't It Strange" by the Scissor Sisters, as well as a beautiful and welcome cover of the song "One Love" in the unmistakable voice of António Banderas.

Shrek Forever After saved everything. The previous part was forgotten here and the second part was forgotten here because of the fact (now a smaller spoiler) that Shrek returns here in time. To avoid spoilers, I won't say more. Let me just say that it works. The story is excellent in my opinion. The animation has also improved a lot and the soundtrack is nice. Overall, in my opinion, it's about saving the series and an excellent ending, even though there are still some rumors about the fifth part.

This story, is something that truly wants to be the shrek film just like how it was before, before shrek 3. And yet it brought so much new charecters and the fairly dark atmosphere is great. The story is brilliant, the villian is genius and the emotions is just wild. This film is an ultimate redemption to shrek and although some people don't like it,(For some reason???)I recommend you to watch this masterpiece if you haven't already.

Posso dizer com certeza que este é o segundo melhor filme da franquia. Apesar de não ter um humor tão afiado quanto o segundo filme, compensa-se na historia, que mesmo não sendo complexa, nos ensina uma lição muito importante. é quase como um aviso para que não cometa algo assim no futuro. Se você gosta dos personagens, vai se divertir, ou até mesmo se emocionar. O vilão tem seu carisma, e é bem construído, possuindo vários traços narcisistas. Os ogros são bem divertidos, assim como as bruxas. também gostei da versão alternativa do Burro, Gato de botas, Biscoito, etc. Isso porque eles já são versões alternativas. A animação está linda. Quem vem assistindo os filmes da quadrilogia, fica impressionado com a qualidade das expressões faciais, iluminação, cores, e tudo mais. As "citações" as obras passadas foram ótimas e marcam um final satisfatório e natural. E toda a jornada, em si, leva a isso.

Okay movie little less good than the 3rd one but 1st and 2nd will always be Classics!As per end of amazingly sarcastic series it didn't felt that great but as per side spin-off retelling story it was Decent!The music and end-credits songs was **** visuals and animations were improved and skeptical specially the castle and hidden world!the screenplay was okay,the story was decent it was like retelling of 1st one with some changes and new villain he was **** jokes were little less and the references **** core elements of Shrek felt missing like sarcasm with bashing rivals and fairy tales with awesome references. although 2nd half was Fun to watch as he wants to establish relations from start the donkey and puss both were **** start was amazing the repeat mode was funny the witches and fairy tale flute person was good,the discovery of Shrek's people was little surprise the moment puss entered it was amazing whole movie was fast as per story but very slow with every scene but 2nd half was total **** ending was good the return to home and fight was good the donkey and dragon was amazing but as per amazing series end it must be a better way to end it wasn't that emotional good-bye to beloved series it felt like just another sequel!Overall it was Okay movie!

Lying awake at night, Shrek, a husband and father of triplets, undergoes an existential crisis, as Fiona sleeps soundly, oblivious to the paradox that vexes her domesticated spouse, who misses the ogre condition of alienation and veneration. The sheer awe that Shrek's size and stature commanded from the townsfolk, in hindsight, so he thinks, was adequate compensation for his lonely bachelor life in the swamp. The marital bed, suddenly a coffin instead of a haven, inspires Shrek to take out a "Wanted" poster, the highlight of his outlaw notoriety, from the dresser-drawer and affixes the ephemeralia to the mirror, creating a jarring disconnect with the ogre's reflected self. Shrek realizes that he's half an ogre; his resentment lies in incubation 'til the next day at the birthday party, where he reveals his true colors. In the 1947 Frank Capra classic that loosely informs "Shrek Forever After", George Bailey(Jimmy Stewart), the stabilizing force of Bedford Falls, matches the ogre's disenchantment with being a household patriarch, in the housewarming scene where Mary(Donna Reed) gives her wanderlust husband a knitted picture that reads: "George lassos the moon." Like the lunar surface, Shrek can be his own man in the swamp, lonely, but away from the pressures of being a husband and father. In the Capra film, Mary doesn't realize the double-edged significance of the moon; she sees the sphere as merely a romantic object, and not an object of despair, the final outpost for George's wandering spirit. Like "It's a Wonderful Life", one wish made in haste and self-absorption transforms a town and its people for the worse. Rumplestilskin's rave hints at the noirish qualities of Pottersville, since a rave promotes bacchanalia and in this instance, a means of institutional control. The witches turn into good-time party girls as FarFarAway Land becomes a fertile ground for intolerance and nihilism.

The movie is such a heartfelt journey from start to finish. Realising what dreamworks has done wrong with the third instalment of the franchise, they take a step back. Seeing what it has become. A joke, something for children to enjoy but nothing for the mature ages. This movie is highly underrated and I urge everyone to rewatch and try and see what this movie is trying to show.

This is the TRUE Shrek 3. It's such a day and night improvement over the god-awful third movie. This isn't a "Cars 2 and 3" situation, because this isn't just an "okay" movie like Cars 3 is...This is an actually great film. Sure it doesn't have the same lighthearted tone as 1 or 2. It feels "darker" (well I might be using the term wrong but the tone is different, that's for sure) and larger scale and the "fairytale satire" the franchises is known for is almost absent here and the very few it has is more subtle here. It fleshes out its protagonist perfectly as well as other characters like Fiona (and hell, even Donkey). The story flows perfectly. There's not a single slow or boring moment. While it doesn't have the same amount of jokes as the previous movies, the few it has it's actually funny. The story it tells, the resolution and underlying messages are pretty powerful and all its emotional moments work really well. It doesn't feel like a spin-off or anything, it feels like the next step following the story set in Shrek 2. It makes Shrek the Third completely pointless because you don't have to watch it to understand anything. The movie makes sure through its writing that you can enjoy it without even having to watch any of the previous movies. It does stand on its own. I feel like this movie is pretty underrated and "overhated". I feel insulted when people say this one was the worst. Sure, I don't think it's the best but it's on par with Shrek 1 and 2. If Shrek 3 didn't exist, then probably Shrek could've been one of the best animated film trilogies ever. I do understand why this could be hated...Like I said, it doesn't have the same lighthearted tone as the previous movies, but that doesn't matter, because this is an example that you can change the tone of a franchise as long as you make it **** this **** just great. It deserved an Oscar nomination.

Schaffrillas Productions showed me the truth. I was blinded by the evil of "Shrek the third" but then his movie analysis freed me from my chains of stupidity.

Didn't blow me out of the water, but there is a reason that this is called the true 3rd Shrek movie- it is leauges better than the third movie and had some pretty cool and orginal ideas. Has a harder time standing up on its own without Shrek 1 and 2, but Shrek 3 drowns regardless of support. I'm really here to boost Shrek 4's reviews to make it better rated than Shrek 3

I have very little ideas as to why this movie gets so much flak. Sure, it's not as silly, vivacious or original as the movies that came before it (aside from Shrek 3), but it's got heart, atmosphere, emotion, action, and a **** awesome villain. It's an absolute masterpiece next to the third entry in the series, and is such a criminally underrated animated movie.

It has the best 2 lines ever spoken by Shrek in the franchise, one is in the climax and other is right at the end, and the movie did a perfect job to build up the delivery for those 2 lines, I couldn't think of a better way to end the franchise.
