I like movies like “Rosario” — creepy little horror films with enough scares to keep you on edge and enough of a story to keep you invested.

An imperfect hidden gem worth ticking off for genre completionists, it’s also a suitable pick for Mother’s Day 2025 — one that will remind true horror myrmidons why the best springtime releases so often lurk in mess.

Rosario was okay. I wanted it to be more scary especially with the “voodo/withcraft” aspect. There was hump scare moments but nothing to be super afraid from. I would recommend this for a watch if you are bored and wanted to learn a little about Mexican witchcraft.

If you haven't seen many demon possession movies, or on the opposite spectrum, if you can't get enough of them, Rosario is a decent 90-minute watch. It's not awful, it's not going to insult you, but it's a retread of better movies with every predictable plot point you can imagine.

Rosario stretches the material of a really good short film into an underwhelming feature.

Rosario had strong potential with its eerie atmosphere, solid production design, and a cultural premise that could have offered something unique to the genre. Unfortunately, the plot is incoherent, the pacing drags, and the main character’s decisions often defy logic. The emotional beats don't land, and the horror elements feel more confusing than frightening. Despite a few strong visuals, it’s a disappointing experience that left us more puzzled than entertained.
