Red One

Red One is a sour sugarplum of a Christmas treat, a cheerfully cynical action comedy for kids — especially the ones who asked Santa Claus for ninja stars and a Nerf gun.

For all its built-in cynicism and tired tropes, Red One is not as insufferable as you’d expect. At the least you can count on Evans and Johnson committing to the bit and selling all the broad gags they can, which should be enough to win over the elves in your family.

It’s constantly trying to build its own strange mythology to set up sequels that might never come, cracking jokes that rarely hit, and struggling to decide whether it wants to take itself seriously or be more self-aware about its general absurdity.

There’s a little bit of heart here, in the story of two people who have lost faith in Christmas for very different reasons, but more often this feels engineered in a lab to provide seasonal spectacle.

The movie takes on the shape of a video game, with the heroes swaggering confidently from one blowout action sequence to the next with hardly any thought given to making us care about the characters or establishing the film’s heart.

Red One is the holiday fantasy built on retribution, punishment and crushed hopes we deserve right now.

For the most wonderful time of the year comes the worst movie of the year.

I thought this was gonna be a cute movie from the previews but when I got in seat to see it I found out that it was so much more. Without a doubt I think this is probably one of Dwayne Johnson's best films in a while and the morals that come across through the story it's the perfect time for them to be shared. There were moments of levity and action that kept you on the edge of your seat but I think the stories about love and choosing to be a good person at this moment in time we're the best parts of the entire film. There is anything to be taken from this I do believe that this is the must watch holiday film of year and that Every family should watch It. Which brings me to the conclusion of my review 5 stars across-the-board one of the best Christmas movies that I have seen in years.

Oh yeah...I watched this movie, It's just entertaining with some good scenes, cough* Krampus. Anyway, if you are bored I'd recommend this film, it's not a bad watch and it's not as bad as people say it ****'s Generic and more like a Budget film that would have been released back in 2012, however, the budget of this film was incredibly high and it won't make its money back from theatres. Maybe from Streaming? I don't know it has a bit too much CGI in places and looks off. Anyway... 6/10, watch it, maybe you might laugh.

This was a flop. I gotta be honest, people say this is a good movie but it's because the dad and the son reconcile. It has a good ending and some big action scenes and that distract people from the actual quality of this film. (It goes up to a six because of the father and son's relationship)

Wrapped in slick packaging but wholly lacking in holiday magic, Red One is a ho-ho-hum action-adventure.
